Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 196: Holding the Wedding Together
With his reminder, Raine Sinclair suddenly remembered that the media had previously exposed her acceptance of Leon Grant’s marriage proposal.
The outside world was abuzz, yet she had almost forgotten.
It was unexpected that Jonas Hawthorne remembered so clearly.
It was just all an act, but being asked so directly by Jonas, she blurted out, "So what if I did?"
"Raine Sinclair." Jonas Hawthorne lowered his voice, rarely calling her by her full name, but it was filled with anger.
Raine Sinclair did not pay him any attention, instead she turned and pushed open the car door to exit.
Leon Grant, who was walking from the front, recognized that it was Raine Sinclair’s car and approached.
Seeing her step out of the car, his lips immediately curled upward slightly.
"Raine, you..."
The words that followed had yet to be spoken when he saw Jonas Hawthorne inside the car as well, causing his expression to instantly stiffen.
The atmosphere turned awkward in an instant.
"You..."
Raine Sinclair was about to speak when Jonas Hawthorne beat her to it.
"Mr. Grant is here too? What a coincidence."
Leon Grant raised an eyebrow slightly, the smile on his face gradually fading, as he coldly responded to Jonas Hawthorne, "Mr. Hawthorne seems quite leisurely these days, I assume Hawthorne Group’s crisis has been resolved?"
"This minor matter doesn’t require Mr. Grant’s concern." Jonas Hawthorne smirked, his tone wild and unruly.
Raine Sinclair saw the two of them bickering, unsure of when they would stop, so she hurriedly interrupted their verbal tug-of-war and turned to ask Leon Grant, "Leon, did you need something from me?"
This simple use of "Leon" caused the lines of Jonas Hawthorne’s jaw to tighten, and his gaze gradually grew colder.
Only then did Leon Grant look at Raine Sinclair and gently ask, "I’ve been really busy with work lately and couldn’t come to see you. I happened to have some free time tonight, so I stopped by ’Miss Peach’s Cake Shop’ and bought you a cake."
Raine Sinclair was slightly taken aback. She had posted about Miss Peach’s cake in her circle of friends before, but she didn’t expect him to remember?
"Sure." She nodded, then remembered that Leo Keane was with Jonas Hawthorne today, and Leon Grant happens to be free now, could there be any connection between these events?
Seeing Raine Sinclair smile, Leon Grant’s eyes naturally carried a trace of a smile as well.
Then he looked towards the sullen-faced Jonas Hawthorne inside the car and reminded him, "Mr. Hawthorne, your wedding is less than a week away. Seeing you so relaxed, the wedding preparations must be done, right?"
Upon hearing this, Raine Sinclair suddenly recalled that Jonas Hawthorne had announced his marriage to Candace Ford on the third of next month.
Counting the days, there were only five left.
What was he planning to do?
Jonas Hawthorne’s dark eyes slightly darkened, and he instinctively glanced towards Raine Sinclair. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Their gazes collided across the distance.
He did not answer but instead asked in return, "And Mr. Grant’s wedding, when is it planned to be held?"
"Me?" Leon Grant also looked back at Raine Sinclair, "It depends on Raine."
This use of "Raine" sounded extremely intimate, and to Jonas Hawthorne, it was like a dagger to the heart.
"This..." Raine Sinclair opened her mouth, about to say something, when suddenly Jonas Hawthorne spoke up, "Why not have them together?"
Raine Sinclair’s eyes paused.
Leon Grant also frowned as he scrutinized Jonas Hawthorne, and after a moment, he nodded, "Sure, if Mr. Hawthorne doesn’t mind us stealing your thunder, there’s no harm in having the wedding on the same day."
"Then it’s settled." With that said, Jonas Hawthorne opened the car door and stepped out.
Leaving only a fading silhouette for Raine Sinclair to see.
At the same time, John Franklin and Levi Lane’s car arrived.
When Leo Keane got out of the car, he just happened to overhear the conversation between the few people, and his eyes almost popped out!
Seeing Jonas Hawthorne walking towards him, Leo Keane quickly went up to him and asked in a low voice, "Have you lost your mind? You just managed to distance yourself from Candace Ford, so why get married to her again? And as for Raine, weren’t you trying to win her back?!"
Jonas Hawthorne didn’t answer, just walked away briskly with a stern face.
John Franklin and Levi Lane exchanged a glance, both unsure of what had just happened.
When they turned back to look at Raine Sinclair, they saw her face full of bewilderment.
"Who was that?" Levi Lane suddenly asked.
John Franklin followed his gaze and then replied, "Leon Grant, seems like he’s courting Raine."
"Should we kill him?" Levi Lane asked again.
"..." Even John Franklin was somewhat exasperated as he pinched his brows, "Third brother, stop always resorting to killing. This isn’t The Myreen Jungle."
"Oh." Levi Lane nodded.
He listened to his third brother’s words.
Only after a moment, he added, "But if he dares to hurt Raine, I will kill him."
John Franklin, "..."
In the end, they didn’t go over to greet them, John Franklin just took Levi Lane away directly.
This kid was as wild as a savage, it was best to take him back for some proper teaching first!
Over there, Leon Grant also noticed John Franklin and Levi Lane and casually asked Raine Sinclair, "Who are they?"
"They’re all my cousins." Raine Sinclair came back to her senses, seeing they had left, she didn’t try to catch up.
Her cousins were all elusive, impossible to keep around.
Leon Grant nodded, thinking of the wedding they had just discussed, he cautiously looked at Raine Sinclair, "Raine, about the wedding, what do you think?"
Raine Sinclair finally withdrew her gaze, looking slightly apologetic at him, "Leon, the marriage talk at the hospital was all a façade due to the circumstances, it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously."
"Don’t you want to get back at Jonas Hawthorne? He’s getting married on the third of next month, you’re bound to become a laughingstock." Leon Grant furrowed his brows.
He knew Raine Sinclair wouldn’t easily open her heart to him, but he admitted his own selfish desire to marry her...
Furthermore, they had already had marital relations, and he felt responsible for her.
Raine Sinclair fell into a prolonged silence.
She had no desire for revenge anymore.
But if doing this could thoroughly end everything between her and Jonas Hawthorne...
"Raine, if you really don’t want to, we can just have the wedding first. Once this blows over, you can think about it again." Leon Grant said once more.
Raine Sinclair slightly raised her brows, "Having a wedding first? That’s not fair to you, and what about your parents, how will you explain to them?"
"Those things you needn’t worry about." Leon Grant smiled slightly, "You just need to focus on being a bride."
"But it seems inappropriate, maybe I should just put out a statement tomorrow saying the rumors are false, that the journalists just exaggerated..."
Before Raine Sinclair could finish speaking, Leon Grant interrupted, "Raine, if you don’t do this, Jonas Hawthorne will never give up."
"..." Raine Sinclair paused, after a long while, she said, "I’ll think about it."
——
Leo Keane continued questioning Jonas Hawthorne, "Why did you suddenly change your mind? Could it be you found out something about Raine and Leon Grant?"
Nothing Leo Keane had said up to this point made Jonas Hawthorne stop.
But it was this last question that made Jonas stop abruptly!
Leo Keane, caught off guard, bumped right into him, "Ouch! Why did you suddenly stop?"
Jonas Hawthorne narrowed his eyes dangerously, "What did you just say?"
