Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 130: Impersonation
Just after the words were spoken, Raine Sinclair came down from upstairs.
"What shouldn’t I be told?"
She rubbed her sleepy eyes and asked.
Having not slept well all night, she only slept for a little over two hours in the morning, feeling a bit dazed, but unable to sleep, she decided to eat something first and then catch up on sleep later.
The three elders at the table paused for a moment.
The two gentlemen lowered their heads to eat in sync as if they hadn’t heard anything.
Only Sharon Jennings lightly coughed and changed the subject, "Raine got up? Why does your complexion look so bad? Didn’t sleep well?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Yes..." Raine nodded, feeling that her eye bags were about to show.
"Quickly come over for breakfast and then go back to catch up on sleep. In the evening, you still need to attend the ball as a special guest!" Sharon Jennings said as she quickly served her porridge.
Raine suddenly regained her senses, "Oh right, there’s a ball in the evening..."
This masquerade ball was organized by the Chamber of Commerce. Jordan Holden was about to be promoted to president and specially sent an invitation to Raine, so she had no choice but to go.
For those billions in loans, Sean Ford gave her all sorts of trouble, but Jordan Holden agreed in one go.
The saying goes, a drop of grace must be repaid with a fountain of gratitude. Since she took their money, she had to show it somehow...
After eating, Raine slept for a while again.
She woke up a bit late and hurriedly headed to the venue of the ball, not even having time to check her phone along the way.
While changing clothes in the dressing room, she bumped into Lily Sinclair, who had arrived a bit earlier.
It seemed the staff knew they were sisters, so they arranged for them to share the same dressing room.
Lily had already changed into her clothes by this time.
Wearing a pure white long dress, she looked ethereal and had a fairy-like aura.
Her hair was elegantly styled and pinned at the back, revealing a slender neck.
Upon seeing Raine enter, Lily paused noticeably, "Sis? You’re here too?"
"Yeah, you’ve changed already? You look so beautiful!" Raine praised as she sat down next to her.
Lily smiled a little shyly, "Cousin looks better! Beside you, I’m just an ugly duckling."
The two sisters, whether in looks or figure, the cousin always surpassed her.
Lily had known this since she was a child...
"What ugly duckling?" Raine frowned as she tidied her long hair and said, "Everyone has their own beauty and shining points. You mustn’t underestimate yourself."
Lily didn’t say more, but gazed enviously at Raine’s long hair, enviously saying, "Sis, let me help you with it."
Her hair had always been soft and not very thick since she was little. Whenever she saw her cousin’s thick hair, she felt very envious.
"Alright." Raine nodded, taking the opportunity to glance at her phone.
She initially wanted to ask Easton Yancy about today’s company progress, but upon unlocking her phone, she was flooded with trending searches.
[Jonas Hawthorne in Coma! Hawthorne Group in Huge Crisis!]
When she saw these words, Raine’s heart skipped sharply!
She was completely frozen...
Jonas Hawthorne? Coma?!
Without time to think, she quickly clicked on the trending topic, seeing nothing but Hawthorne Group’s negative news!
"How could this..." she unconsciously muttered.
"What’s wrong?" Lily naturally glanced over, also seeing the news about Jonas Hawthorne, "This has been out since last night, right? Sis, you just saw it?"
"Yesterday?" Raine frowned and subconsciously checked the date.
Sure enough, it stated that Jonas Hawthorne fainted and was hospitalized at the explosion site last night...
When Leo Keane posted on social media, Raine thought the site was so dangerous. What if a second explosion happened?
If she had known, she should have warned him, but now...
He’s been in a coma for so long. Who knows how Jonas Hawthorne is doing now!
A quick thought crossed her mind that it was likely something her cousin did.
Now that Jonas Hawthorne is already unconscious, who knows if he’ll go further with it!
No, no matter what, she must stop it!
Thinking of this, Raine suddenly stood up, "Lily, I have to leave now."
"Ah? But the ball is about to start..." Lily hadn’t expected her cousin to suddenly stand up and say she needed to leave.
Just then, a server came and knocked on the dressing room door.
"Ms. Sinclair, Mr. Holden specifically ordered this mask to be delivered to you." The server said as he placed a custom tray in front of Raine’s dressing table.
Lily naturally glanced over. It was a white half-face mask, outlined only with minimal lines, and the right temple was adorned with a pure white feather, gently swaying with the server’s movements.
It looked especially noble and elegant.
So beautiful...
In comparison, Raine barely glanced at the mask, her brow furrowed, "Okay, I know."
After the server left, Lily picked up the mask and inspected it carefully, "So beautiful! Sis, why don’t you try it on?"
Raine was still thinking of how to leave.
Jordan Holden was her major patron, definitely someone she couldn’t offend. But if she didn’t leave now, how would she find her cousin?
If she didn’t stop him, who knows what could happen!
"Sis?" Lily asked again upon seeing her cousin didn’t answer.
"Hmm?" Raine turned back, her gaze fixed on Lily.
She looked her up and down, seeing her height and build were similar to her own... after all, masks would be worn later, so no one could recognize anyone. How about letting her impersonate her for a while?
Thinking of this, Raine suddenly took hold of Lily’s hand and smilingly shared her plan.
Lily was stunned, blinking in disbelief, "You want me to pretend to be you? No, I can’t..."
"You can!" Raine encouraged her, pushing the black evening gown she planned to wear to Lily, "Change into this, then put on the mask. As long as you don’t speak, no one will recognize you!"
Anyway, the height can be supported with heels, and ordinary people can’t tell the difference with hairstyle or makeup!
"But I..."
Before Lily could continue to refuse, Raine grabbed her phone and dashed out of the room.
Leaving Lily staring blankly at the white mask.
Is she really going to impersonate her cousin?
——
In another room on the same floor.
Leon Grant had already arrived.
He wasn’t interested in such balls but was dragged over by Anton Kincaid.
"Look how stylish this black knight mask is! Just right for you!"
Anton Kincaid held the mask up to Leon Grant’s face, but was fiercely glared in return, "Immature."
"What? This is immature? Let me tell you, Raine Sinclair is wearing a white one, and yours is a matching pair. Are you sure you don’t want it?"
