Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 100: How Do You Plan to Thank Me?
He quickly rubbed his arms against the cold!
This, this, did I say something wrong again?!
He hastily coughed a few times to cover his embarrassment, "Well... the view from this hospital is quite nice... oh, look at the time, it’s so late already!"
An awkward and forced segue, even Leo felt like slapping himself!
Listen to what he’s saying!
He thought Jonas Hawthorne would definitely be angry, but unexpectedly, he just emitted a cold aura, without directing his fury at him, and instead asked, "Leo, if I really marry Candace Ford, what will Raine do?"
"What?!" Leo jumped up anxiously, staring at Jonas as if he’d seen a ghost, "Are you serious? You really want to marry Candace Ford? Brother, you just got out of one hell, why are you in such a hurry to jump into another one?"
After saying this, he noticed Jonas’s face turning darker, and immediately changed his tone, "No, what I mean is, what’s the rush?"
Jonas frowned, looking slightly impatient, "Do you not understand my question?"
"What question?" Leo scratched the back of his head, was he hearing things wrong?
Jonas didn’t explain to him, until two minutes later when Leo realized, "Oh, what you mean is, you’re not really going to marry, you’re asking me what if you and Candace got married, what would Raine do, right?"
Finally, he grasped the central issue!
Seeing that Jonas no longer looked at him with disdain, Leo finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He sat back down on the stone bench, propping his face with one hand, and began to seriously analyze Jonas’s question.
"Raine is already pregnant with Leon Grant’s child, so she probably... has come to terms with the past, right? If you marry Candace, she probably..." wouldn’t care, would she?
Leo didn’t dare to finish that sentence, knowing that Jonas’s mood was not great at the moment.
He wouldn’t foolishly rush in to take the fall, right?
Unexpectedly, Jonas himself brought up the latter part of the sentence.
"She wouldn’t care at all, right?"
His tone was slightly mocking, as if speaking to Leo, yet also as if saying it to himself.
For some reason, Leo suddenly felt a slight sadness.
This was a feeling he never had before when he was with Jonas...
Sigh.
Another sigh.
The saying goes that heroes are defeated by beauty, now he truly understood.
"Jonas, if you still can’t let go of Raine, why don’t you..."
Leo’s words were cut short by Jonas.
"There’s no need to say such things in the future." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"But clearly you can’t let go of Raine, you..."
"I said, there’s no need to say it again!" Jonas raised his voice, coldly cutting off all of Leo’s suggestions!
His cold eyes narrowed slightly, his expression sinister!
Leo’s throat tightened, falling silent, then heard him say, "My presence only brings her misfortune."
The tone was so desolate, so sorrowful, that it made Leo’s heart ache.
After a long pause, he sighed, "But by letting go, she might really belong to someone else."
"..." Jonas said nothing more, just silently placed his hand over his heart.
Some pain, only he could feel.
He never considered her feelings in the past, but now...
He’s started to think for her.
——
Raine woke up to find it was already dark.
She hadn’t slept well, in and out of consciousness, so she got up and leaned against the headboard.
After sitting silently for a while, feeling a lot of her strength return, she got out of bed and walked a few steps.
Just as she reached the door, she heard voices outside.
"Mr. Grant, please let me see Raine! I’m really, really worried about her! She’s my savior now, I need to see her safe and sound to be relieved!"
It was Candace Ford?
Raine raised an eyebrow, standing quietly behind the door and listening.
Leon Grant’s voice soon followed, "Didn’t Jonas tell you to go back and rest? Why are you out here again?"
"I can’t sleep, I’m worried about Raine!"
Hearing this, Raine almost wanted to puke...
Worried for her, more like worried she’s not dead yet!
Just as she thought this, she heard Leon outside the door say, "You might deceive Jonas, but you can’t fool me. Why Raine came to the hospital today, you should know better than I do, right?"
Leon had seen through Candace’s petty tricks long ago.
Not exactly a nice person to begin with, why pretend to be so fake?
Seeing it just makes one feel utterly disgusted!
Candace had intended to keep up the act, but Leon shut her down with such disdain in his voice, leaving her little opportunity.
Realizing it was pointless to pretend, she quickly switched to a dark smile and sarcastically said, "Then why is Mr. Grant at the hospital? Isn’t it to win Raine’s favor? The child in her belly, is it really yours?"
This was the main reason Candace came over after Jonas left.
She wanted to find out if the child Raine was carrying was indeed Leon’s!
If it was, then everything would be manageable, but if not...
She certainly wouldn’t allow such a threat to exist before her own child was even born.
If Raine was carrying Jonas’s child, then she couldn’t continue living in this world.
Leon probably guessed Candace’s intention, and immediately sneered, "If the child wasn’t mine, do you think I’d be here?"
Candace frowned, thinking it over, and found it made sense.
No man could be that foolish, right?
Knowing the woman isn’t carrying his child, yet still eager to show he cares?
Besides, Leon Grant isn’t lacking in options; he doesn’t need to seek a divorced woman with a child, right?
Thinking this, Candace slowly began to believe...
"Then congratulations to Mr. Grant. When do you plan to have the wedding? After all, the child in Raine’s belly needs a name."
"That’s our own business, no need for outsiders to worry." Leon’s tone was cold, a dark intensity in his deep eyes.
Candace gritted her teeth in anger, wanting to curse back!
But to gain more information, she had to take a deep breath and swallow her anger!
Glancing again at the hospital room door behind Leon, Candace continued, "Mr. Grant, you’re right, but I saw Raine was in there for a long time earlier, things don’t look too good, right? Why don’t you let me in to see her? I really must thank her for saving my life!"
After all, she wasn’t at ease without seeing Raine with her own eyes.
Just as Leon was about to refuse, the door behind him creaked open, followed by Raine’s cool voice, "How do you plan to thank me?"
