Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 481: Aftermath (1)
Lennox had expected that he wouldn’t be returning home anytime soon, considering he was the prime suspect in Alistair’s death. While he was relieved to know that his wife chose to stand up for him, he hated that she would have to be involved in his case.
As the days passed, they found themselves caught in a whirlwind of media frenzy and legal battles. Abigail hired the best lawyers for her son, ensuring that he had a strong defense. She was determined to prove his innocence and bring the real culprit to justice. Despite the mounting pressure, Lennox and Adrienne remained hopeful that their lives would eventually return to normal.
As the authorities gathered more evidence that presented Alistair as a dangerous and vengeful individual, they shifted the focus of their investigation to him. Eventually, the public’s perception of Lennox began to change as well, as they saw him more as a victim than a suspect. Abigail continued to fight tooth and nail for her son’s innocence. She tirelessly worked with Lennox’s legal team, leaving no stone unturned in their quest to bring down the true culprits. Together, they dug deeper into Alistair’s empire, exposing more dark secrets that left them both stunned and disgusted.
Once revered and influential, the Han family faced the harsh reality of their involvement in Alistair’s illegal activities. The once pristine reputation of their company crumbled under the weight of scandal and corruption. The investigation took unexpected twists and turns, uncovering a network of deceit and betrayal that stretched far beyond the Han family. Connections to powerful figures in politics and organized crime were unearthed, revealing a web that ensnared Alistair and ultimately led to his demise. The truth became more convoluted than anyone had anticipated.
His involvement with Elysian was also exposed. It was revealed that he and Prosecutor Ji were funding and protecting the gentleman’s club, where prostitution and drug trafficking flourished behind closed doors. The revelation sent shockwaves through the city, tarnishing the reputation of those in positions of power. Lennox’s case became a pivotal point in dismantling the web of corruption that had plagued the city for years.
The media circus intensified as high-profile names were implicated in Alistair’s network. Public figures who had once been revered now faced public scrutiny and legal consequences. The walls of secrecy crumbled, and the truth spilled forth, staining even the most prestigious backgrounds.
As Adrienne witnessed the downfall of the Han family and the exposure of their illicit activities, she couldn’t help but feel satisfaction and vindication. She had come a long way from the naive and sheltered girl who had married into the Han family. The person whom she feared the most was finally dead, and it brought her immense relief and closure. No longer bound by Alistair’s manipulative grip, Adrienne found herself embracing a newfound strength and resilience. She had endured years of emotional abuse and lived in constant fear, but now, with the truth revealed, she could finally breathe.
"Don’t worry too much, Addie. I will be home in no time." Lennox told her during one of her visits to the detention center where her husband was being kept.
It had been a week since Alistair’s death. After Lennox was released from the hospital, he willingly went to the authorities and cooperated with them about his case. Lennox surmised that he might need to serve some jail time, but he was okay with it. His lawyers said they had a strong claim that Lennox merely did self-defense, which caused Alistair’s death, but the gun that Lennox used might give him some additional legal trouble. Nevertheless, Lennox remained hopeful that he would be free soon.
"How can I not worry when you’ve been here for some time now?" Adrienne said in defense. "I want to go home with you, not see you like this."
"I know, Addie. I hate being here too, but we have to stay strong. Are the kids doing well? I hope they aren’t too affected by all of this." Lennox asked, concern etched on his face. He was worried that it would traumatize his siblings and cause them to face the public’s scrutiny because of him.
Adrienne nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "They’re coping as best as they can. Our moms are helping me take care of them."
Lennox smiled softly, relieved that his wife wasn’t alone during these challenging times.
"I’ve been trying to shield them from the media circus as much as possible, but it’s hard. They miss you, Lennox. Even Samantha returned home from her dormitory to stay with us. Vince and Liam also called. They are worried about you, but I assured them everything is under control, and they don’t need to worry too much. I can’t allow them to be distracted, not when they are both preparing for a major competition."
Lennox nodded, finding solace in her words. Despite the uncertainty that loomed over them, their love remained unwavering. It was a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness that surrounded their lives. He reached out and squeezed her hand tightly.
"We’ll get through this, Addie. Once I’m free, we can focus on rebuilding our lives together."
Just as they were about to share a moment of solace in their cramped visitor room, a guard approached them.
"Time’s up," he gruffly announced.
Reluctantly, Adrienne stood up from her seat, her gaze never leaving Lennox’s face.
"I’ll be back tomorrow," she promised, her voice filled with determination. She longed to see the day that she would return home with her husband.
"I’ll be waiting," Lennox replied softly, his eyes glistening with gratitude and love for the woman standing before him.
As the days passed, Lennox’s legal team worked tirelessly to build a solid case for his defense. Meanwhile, the city buzzed with anticipation as the trial date drew near. People couldn’t help but be captivated by the scandal surrounding the Han family and the powerful figures entwined in Alistair’s web. The media circus continued unabated, with reporters dissecting every detail and speculating on possible outcomes.
Lennox and Adrienne also became the talk of the town. Alistair’s scandalous obsession with Adrienne also came to light. Some began suspecting that Alistair might also have had a hand in Ayla’s sudden death. They speculated that he attempted to kill his wife and tried to murder Lennox Qin in order to have Adrienne.
