Chapter 462: You’ll Come Home With Me (2)

"Are you sure Adrienne wasn’t coming home to Lennox Qin?" Alistair lifted his head and looked at his assistant with a puzzled expression. "Do you think they had a fight?"

Adrienne chose to marry Lennox Qin over him two years ago, and Alistair still couldn’t understand why. Still, he believed that, in time, Adrienne would realize her mistake and return to him. Hearing that Adrienne hadn’t been coming home to Jinxiu Garden, where she lived with Lennox, made Alistair wonder if Adrienne had finally realized what kind of man she was married to.

"I’m not sure, Boss, but Lennox Qin was frequently spotted giving her a visit at the Zhao estate. He was seen bringing flowers and small gifts," the assistant replied.

Alistair’s mood turned sour. He knew Lennox Qin wouldn’t easily give up his pursuit of the woman he was married to. As for Adrienne, Alistair felt she would return to Lennox soon. He thought that the more he waited for Adrienne, the more frustrated he became. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was losing her to Lennox.

The thought of him losing Adrienne to someone else consumed his every waking moment. He tried to take Adrienne away when she was confined in the hospital, but for some reason, Lennox found out about his plan and switched Adrienne’s hospital room with a different patient. As a result, he was left empty-handed and filled with despair.

Since Lennox wasn’t willing to give up on Adrienne, he could make Adrienne leave the man for good. Alistair thought. Adrienne can make sacrifices for others and put their needs above hers, so convincing her to leave Lennox may be possible. He only needed to find a reason to break them apart.

"Did we get any information on Lennox’s past relationships?" Alistair asked, hoping to uncover a potential flaw that could lead Adrienne to leave him.

His assistant looked at Alistair and shook her head. He couldn’t understand his boss’s obsession with Adrienne Jiang. It had been almost two years since she and Lennox Qin got married, and it hadn’t been long since Alistair’s wife died, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that Adrienne was the one he truly wanted.

"His past relationships were short-lived." He answered. He didn’t dare mention that they found out Adrienne had been in a relationship with Lennox since she was nineteen because the assistant knew Alistair was still holding onto hope for a future with Adrienne.

"Nothing? What about Huayi? Is there something we could use against them?" He asked, hoping for some leverage to gain an advantage over Huayi.

His assistant hesitated momentarily before responding, "There have been rumors about some questionable business practices in the past, Boss, but nothing concrete. It’s all speculation at this point."

He knew that Alistair was desperate to find any kind of flaw in Lennox or Huayi that would give him a chance with Adrienne again. To become the apple of Alistair’s eye must be Adrienne Jiang’s greatest misfortune, the assistant thought.

Alistair sighed, frustration evident in his voice. "Keep digging. I need something, anything that can help me break them apart." He knew it was a long shot but couldn’t bear the thought of losing Adrienne forever.

As the days turned into weeks, Alistair’s obsession grew. He became consumed with finding a way to separate Adrienne from Lennox, even if it meant resorting to questionable tactics. He started to gather information and evidence, determined to expose any wrongdoing on Lennox’s part.

But no matter how hard he searched, Alistair couldn’t find anything substantial to use against Lennox or Huayi. It seemed like they were untouchable, and their reputation was impeccable.

Alistair thought that once he had solid evidence against them, he could present it to Adrienne and convince her that staying with Lennox was a grave mistake. However, he also knew that he was running out of time. The more Alistair delved into his pursuit, the more he realized that time was slipping through his fingers like sand. Adrienne seemed content in her marriage to Lennox, and no matter how hard Alistair tried, he couldn’t find a flaw to exploit. He would have no other choice but to seize Adrienne at all costs before he lost her forever.

Desperation clawed at Alistair’s heart as he realized the depth of his obsession. He had become consumed with the idea of winning Adrienne back and proving to her that he was the one who truly understood her. But as the days turned into weeks, it became clear that his efforts were in vain.

One evening, Alistair found himself standing outside the Zhao estate, watching the warm glow of light spill from the windows. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the scene, his heart aching with longing.

How had it come to this? How had he become so consumed by someone who belonged to another?

A sudden wind blew through the night, ruffling Alistair’s hair and returning him to reality. He knew he couldn’t continue down this path; he couldn’t keep chasing after something that wasn’t meant to be, but his obsession with Adrienne wasn’t something he could easily give up. Alistair could feel it in his bones that Adrienne belonged to him, and no matter how Ayla Jiang and Lennox Qin came between them, he was set to take her back.

Alistair reached for his phone and dialed a number he never thought he would need to use. It rang several times before a gravelly voice answered on the other end.

"Mr. Blackwood, I need your assistance," Alistair said, his voice filled with desperation. "I know you specialize in delicate matters, and I believe I may require your unique talents."

He then proceeded to inform the other man that he wanted to abduct Adrienne Jiang. Alistair knew that he could not lose Adrienne again. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

There was a pause on the other end before the voice responded, "Mr. Han, you’re treading dangerous waters. Sometimes, there are things best left alone. Lennox Qin has already put a notice that whoever puts a reward over his wife will face consequences."

"Are you telling me that you cannot do this job?" Alistair frowned. Was it impossible for him to have Adrienne in this lifetime?

"I’m saying there’s another thing that could make Adrienne come with you willingly. No one would dare criticize or sue you if Adrienne Jiang willingly left her husband and came to you," Mr. Blackwood replied, his voice dripping with caution.

Alistair’s mind raced as he considered Mr. Blackwood’s words. Was there a way to convince Adrienne to leave Lennox willingly? To leave the man she had chosen over him? The idea seemed far-fetched, but Alistair was desperate and willing to explore any possibility.

"What do you suggest?" Alistair asked, his voice wavering with hope and uncertainty as he anxiously awaited Blackwood’s response.

"I have connections in certain circles," Mr. Blackwood replied cryptically. "There are ways to manipulate situations and create circumstances that push someone towards a desired outcome without resorting to illegal means. I can set up a meeting for you and Adrienne where you can speak openly to her and give her a choice. She would surely sacrifice herself to save her mother and Lennox Qin."

Alistair fell silent, considering the other man’s words. His suggestion would eliminate other problems that may arise. The Zhao family wouldn’t be able to come after him through legal action if Adrienne was the one who decided to leave Lennox Qin for him. He had to take it if there was even the slightest possibility that she could choose him willingly.

"Set up the meeting," Alistair said firmly, determination flowing through his veins. "I need this chance, no matter how slim the odds. I’ve waited long enough for her."

"Very well," Mr. Blackwood responded, his voice conveying finality. "I will arrange everything and inform you of the details when it is right. But remember, Mr. Han, this is not without risks. Be prepared for any outcome."

Alistair nodded in understanding. He knew that pursuing Adrienne meant risking everything he had, but he couldn’t ignore the possibility of a future with her. He was willing to face the consequences, whatever they may be, to have a chance at happiness.

He ended the call and felt relieved for the first time in a long time. He finally felt a glimmer of hope that things would work out in his favor.

Alistair glanced at the photo of Adrienne on his desk, a constant reminder of his longing for her. He knew the road ahead would be difficult, but he was determined to take whatever risks were necessary to be with her.

"It won’t be long, Adrienne. You would realize that running away from me is futile." He said as his fingertips ran over the edges of the photograph, tracing the contours of her smiling face. "You’ll be home with me very soon."

Alistair envisioned a future where they could finally be together, willing to do whatever it took to make that dream a reality.
