Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 442: Stark Contrast (2)
Lennox knew he had a long day at work that day. He wasn’t willing to leave his wife, but he knew he had to meet the board for an important meeting.
"I’ll be back soon, Addie." He kissed her wife’s forehead and looked at her peaceful face.
It had been a week since the monk checked on Adrienne, and he was told to wait as it might take some time for Adrienne to wake up. She would need to sort out some things on her own and face her inner demons. Lennox understood this but was willing to wait for his wife so long as she would return to him.
"I’ll take care of Addie while you are gone, Nox. You focus on your work and do not worry about her. I’ll give you a call if anything happens." Rosemary assured him.
"Thank you, Mom. You’ve been a good help to me and Addie these past few weeks. I wouldn’t know what to do if you and Hunter weren’t here to support us."
Rosemary smiled at him and patted his arm.
"You don’t need to thank me anymore. We’re family." She looked into Adrienne’s teary eyes and added, "We’ll always be here for you and Addie, no matter what."
After Adrienne went through it because of her, Rosemary was determined to be there for her and support her unconditionally. She would care for her daughter, no matter how long she needed to do it.
Lennox nodded and gave his wife one last look before leaving for Jinling for a meeting at Qin Industries. He knew he could trust her to handle everything while he was away.
It took him two hours before he arrived at Qin Industries in Jinling. He strode towards the conference room and saw the key people and his grandfather. Because of the incident of his wife’s attack, Lennox had almost turned his back and forgotten his work completely.
The release date of the newest car from Qin Motors was fast approaching, and everyone was nervous that Lennox wouldn’t be able to meet the deadline. However, as Lennox entered the conference room, he could sense the determination and dedication in the air. The team had been working tirelessly to ensure the launch’s success, and their unwavering support gave him the confidence that together, they would overcome any obstacles that came their way.
"Nox, I understand you need to care for your wife. Why don’t you leave the rest of me to deal with so you can focus on her recovery?" Jacob shamelessly suggested, earning a cold glare from their grandfather.
"You can’t even secure the investment of the subsidiary you are managing; how could I leave this responsibility to someone like you?" Lennox retorted, his voice dripping with disdain.
"You!" Jacob exclaimed, his face red with anger.
Others had heard the exchange but chose to stay out of it. Though they also shared the same sentiment with Lennox, Jacob had joined Qin Industries years ago. He was given a good position within the company because he was the chairman’s first grandson, but he was arrogant and rude to his subordinates. Of course, such news also reached the board and some of the investments. As a result, there were discussions about reevaluating Jacob’s role within the company.
Compared to Lennox, who had only joined the company recently, he already showed promising results and was able to impress the board with his performance. The latest project he had at Qin Motors was promising and had the potential to increase the company’s profits significantly.
Meanwhile, Jacob struggled to meet his targets and catch up on his work. He was also caught up in some scandals that had tarnished his reputation, but Jacob never took responsibility for his actions and continued to make excuses. Because of this, people continued to compare him with Lennox. They viewed Lennox as far more reliable and responsible than his cousin.
"Then, are we still on the right track, Nox?" His grandfather, the chairman of the board, questioned Lennox. His voice was deep and commanding, with no hint of weakness or uncertainty. When he spoke, others listened and followed his lead.
Lennox looked at his grandfather and nodded. He might have encountered a mishap when he almost lost his mind after what happened to his wife, but there was no way he would betray his team and put their hard work to waste.
"Everything is going to be alright," Lennox assured his grandfather. "We are still on track and will not let this setback deter us from our goal."
He then asked Jet to pass the reports and documents to everyone, allowing them to see their progress status and make informed decisions.
He was glad that his grandfather had recovered from his recent illness and avoided death. Adrienne told him that his grandfather would pass away from some complications of his illness, and it would start the decline of the Qin family and their business empire.
His grandfather was looking well. He had a regal and dignified stature; his posture was tall and commanding. His face was aged and lined with wisdom, and his eyes were sharp and piercing. His silver hair was neatly combed back, and his sharp jawline showed the signs of a well-groomed man. Despite his age, he exuded a sense of power and authority in his tailored suit.
His grandfather sighed and waved a hand. Lennox has been competent so far and has provided satisfying results since he took over the management of Qin Motors. His grandfather had high hopes for Lennox’s future.
"Fine. So long as you will take responsibility for the project, Nox. But remember, I’ll be watching you closely."
Jacob was not pleased with their grandfather’s decision. He thought he could snatch Lennox’s project and took all the credit for the success of the project himself. He had always been jealous of Lennox’s abilities and intelligence, but never openly admitted this to anyone. He always wanted to prove superior to Lennox in every aspect but kept failing. Despite his repeated attempts, he could never outshine Lennox.
The board members also allowed Lennox to proceed with the project. However, they knew they would monitor his progress closely to ensure he didn’t fall behind.
Lennox merely smiled. He never told them that this would be the last time he would be involved with the Qin family business.
