Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 436: A Glimpse From the Past (3)
She was nothing but a pawn in her father’s eyes, and after she had done and served her purpose, Adrienne was discarded like a worthless piece of trash. She was left feeling empty and unimportant.
At that moment, Adrienne didn’t show any ounce of respect or affection for her father and regarded him as one of the worst scum on the face of the earth. She wanted Lewis to experience life worse than hell if it was possible. She wanted him to suffer just as much as he had made her suffer.
Looking at her father, she could feel bitterness filling her every fiber. Immediately afterward, the scenery changed yet again, and this time, Adrienne found herself inside her room at the Han mansion, where she used to live with Alistair.
A figure accompanied Adrienne inside the room, but that person seemed oblivious to her presence. Adrienne’s expression hardened as she realized that the figure was none other than Alistair himself.
Alistair was seated on the edge of the bed, his hand gripping the cloak she used to have when she was alive. He was dressed impeccably, as if he had just attended an important event. The moon outside was already high, casting a soft glow on the room.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Ayla entered, dressed in an expensive designer white wedding dress. Her hair was perfectly styled in an elegant updo.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, not bothering to turn on the lights inside the room. "You would rather remain here on our wedding night than spend it with me?"
"Get out," Alistair said firmly, his voice filled with disappointment and anger.
Ayla let out a laugh and crossed her arms over her chest.
"What? Do you feel guilty for betraying Addie? I have warmed your bed for so many nights while your wife stayed alone at home. I can’t believe you have the audacity to be angry with me now."
Alistair gave her a scathing look, as if he couldn’t believe her audacity to speak to him like that.
"Don’t forget that I’m your wife now, not Addie. Addie divorced you and ran away with Myrtle’s bastard son. Do you really think she would choose to stay with you after discovering about us?" Ayla scoffed arrogantly.
"Didn’t you hear what I said earlier? I said, Get out!" Alistair snapped at her. "If you want to be my wife, you better learn to listen to me."
Ayla met his stare with defiance. She had the backing of the Han family, and Alistair could not get rid of her easily as the fruit of their affair was growing in her womb. So long as she had his child, Alistair couldn’t do anything but keep her.
"Then you better learn to accept that Addie isn’t part of our lives now. It would do well for everyone to move on and focus on the future." She said before leaving her new husband.
Alistair ignored her words, his hand tightening its hold on Adrienne’s cloak. He knew he couldn’t let go of her, even after her death. He couldn’t accept that Adrienne divorced him and ran away without waiting for him to explain anything.
Adrienne frowned as she looked at his dejected expression. They were married for many years, yet Alistair only cared about what he wanted and never considered her feelings. It was always about him but never about her.
"Addie, how dare you leave me?" Alistair lowered his head, rage filling his eyes. He couldn’t accept that he had no way to bring her back to his side, but deep down, he knew he had pushed her away too far. He knew he had pushed her away too far, and now it was too late to make amends.
However, he also knew that Ayla was also involved in it. Adrienne wouldn’t divorce him recklessly if she hadn’t revealed their affair to her. Therefore, he couldn’t solely blame himself for pushing her. Alistair knew he needed to wait before he could punish Ayla for her impertinence. He needed to bide his time and strategize his revenge carefully.
Adrienne sneered inwardly. He acted as if he cared about her when he treated her like a possession rather than a person. His empty promise of saving her mother never happened, and he refused to allow her to see her mother for the last time.
Did he regret mistreating her? Did he even regret betraying her? Adrienne wasn’t sure, but she knew that she deserved better.
Adrienne watched in silence, seeing days quickly pass into weeks. Alistair was never home, leaving Ayla alone until she gave birth to their son. Once Ayla gave birth, Alistair took away their child and gave them to his stepmother to raise.
"Give him back to me!" Ayla hit Alistair with disheveled hair, tears streaming down her face. "Where did you take him? Please, I need to see my baby!"
Alistair looked at her with such coldness in his eyes. He grabbed Ayla’s wrist harshly and said, "He’s my son now. You have no right to see him."
"No!" Ayla exclaimed, "What do you mean he’s your son? He’s also mine!"
Alistair pushed her away and wrapped his hand around her neck. Adrienne was taken aback, fearing for Ayla’s safety. She had never thought Alistair would also subject his mistress to the same thing Adrienne had endured for many years.
"It’s all your fault. I lost Addie because of you. If you had never shown up and forced her to leave me, none of this would have happened," Alistair seethed, his voice filled with anger and resentment.
Ayla struggled to break free, pushing her husband away with all her strength. She then ran towards the balcony, which was a big mistake because, as soon as she turned around to face Alistair, he pushed her backward, making her fall over the railing. Ayla’s body plummeted towards the ground; her mind filled with disbelief and fear as she realized the true extent of Alistair’s cruelty.
Adrienne looked down and saw her cousin die from the fall with her eyes wide open and blood seeping from her head. So, Ayla’s end in her past life was no different from the end she met in Adrienne’s current life.
