Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 414: Unwanted Wife (2)
Ayla’s pregnancy progressed, but with some complications that made Stella worry. Ayla’s doctor had informed her about the potential risks associated with her pregnancy, causing Stella to become increasingly concerned. As the weeks went by, Ayla experienced frequent bouts of nausea and fatigue, prompting Stella to monitor her well-being and seek medical advice whenever necessary.
When Ayla suffered another bleed, Stella’s anxiety reached its peak. She immediately rushed Ayla to the hospital, fearing for both her and the baby’s safety. The doctors conducted a thorough examination to determine the cause of the bleeding and took necessary measures to ensure Ayla’s health and the well-being of her unborn child.
Despite this, Alistair didn’t show up, much to Stella’s frustration. She couldn’t understand why Alistair could be this heartless toward his wife. As soon as Ayla’s pregnancy was confirmed, Alistair had distanced himself from his wife and never visited her to see her progress or offer any support.
"Alistair isn’t there?" Myrtle asked her mother over the phone. This wasn’t the first time Ayla was rushed to the hospital due to complications with her pregnancy. Myrtle couldn’t help but feel a growing concern for her mother’s well-being, as it seemed Alistair was consistently absent during these critical moments.
"No, dear." Stella rubbed her arm as she stood outside Ayla’s hospital room, worry etched across her face. "He’s nowhere to be found. Even his father couldn’t reach him. It’s as if he doesn’t care about his child or Ayla’s health."
Stella’s frustration grew with each passing minute, unable to comprehend how someone could be so heartless and indifferent towards their own family. It seemed to her that Alistair didn’t prioritize his family.
"I’m sorry, Mom. I wish I could go there to help you, but you know Ayla wouldn’t want to see me." Myrtle said. Given how close she was to Adrienne, Ayla might see her as a threat to her child, which Myrtle found ridiculous. She might not like Ayla, but that doesn’t mean she would ever harm or pose a danger to her or her child.
Stella sighed, her heart heavy with the knowledge that her daughter’s strained relationship with her stepson only added to the stress. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt, wondering if there was something she could have done differently to foster a better bond between them.
"Mom, calm down. You’ve done your best for Ayla, but you don’t need to involve yourself in her marital issues with Alistair. It’s important to respect their boundaries and allow them to work through their problems on their own." She heard her daughter say.
"I know, Myrtle. I’m worried that his absence would only worsen Ayla’s condition."
"Mom, do you think she’s having trouble with her pregnancy now because of what she’d done in the past?" Myrtle questioned her.
Stella suddenly looked nervous and looked around, ensuring no one was in earshot. Of course, she knew what her daughter was talking about. Ayla tried to baby-trap Alistair with a child who wasn’t his. It was only when Ayla tried to implicate Adrienne in her miscarriage that everyone found out that she forcibly let Alistair wear a green hat. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"I asked her doctor about that." She paused before lowering her voice further. "The doctor said the previous miscarriage increased her risk of having another miscarriage in future pregnancies by 20 percent. I’m sure Ayla isn’t aware of this. She may have been desperate to keep Alistair in her life, but manipulating him and jeopardizing her health was dangerous."
When she thought about how Alistair treated his wife, Stella was somewhat relieved that it wasn’t Adrienne who ended up married to him. Stella would be heartbroken if Adrienne had to endure the same mistreatment. She knew Adrienne deserved someone who would prioritize her well-being and happiness above all else.
"What about Ayla’s mother? Why isn’t she stepping up and helping you care for Ayla?" Myrtle’s disappointment was evident as she questioned Stella.
Stella sighed, explaining that Ayla’s mother had chosen to distance herself from the situation, leaving Stella to bear the responsibilities alone. Despite the added burden, Stella remained determined to provide Ayla with the help she needed.
"I don’t like this, Mom," Myrtle complained. "Alistair is already absent, and now Ayla’s mother too? It’s not fair to you or Ayla."
Stella nodded, understanding her daughter’s frustration. She knew Myrtle wasn’t pleased with her arrangement with Alistair’s family, but Stella only had a few other options. The matriarch of the Han family sent her to help tend to Ayla’s needs throughout her pregnancy. The old woman was concerned about Ayla’s pregnancy, as she bore the heir of the Han family, and wanted to ensure that everything went smoothly. Stella knew it was her responsibility but couldn’t refuse the matriarch’s request.
"But dear, you must also understand that Maryam isn’t at her best now. I heard she’s getting therapy after her husband left her for his mistress. It’s a difficult time for her and Ayla; they need all the support she can get. We can’t blame Maryam for needing time to heal and focus on herself."
Myrtle sighed, realizing that her mother was right. Given the circumstances, she couldn’t be too hard on Ayla’s mother. It was understandable that she needed to care for herself first to support her daughter better.
"I know, Mom. It’s just frustrating to see you go through this alone. And also, Alistair. What the hell is wrong with him? I just wish he was more responsible and attentive towards Ayla. She’s carrying his child, for God’s sake. Doesn’t he care about his flesh and blood?"
Taking care of Ayla wasn’t an issue for Stella, but she also wished Alistair could show support or concern for his wife. No matter his differences with Ayla, Stella believed that Alistair should prioritize their child’s well-being and be more involved in their lives.
As they hung up, Stella couldn’t help but think back on all the events that had led to this moment. She knew Ayla’s past actions had consequences, but she couldn’t harshly judge her daughter-in-law. All she could do was act as a supportive mother-in-law and hope that things would eventually work out for the best.
