Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 359: Lucky to Have You (1)
Myrtle noticed that her best friend’s mood continued to improve over the weeks. Since the verdict on Camilla and Cayden has already been delivered, Adrienne’s worries have started to dissipate. Myrtle could finally see the weight lifted off her friend’s shoulders as the dark cloud of uncertainty cleared. She couldn’t help but feel relieved for Adrienne, knowing that she could finally move forward and focus on rebuilding her life.
Adrienne and Myrtle had been busy these past weeks as Adrienne decided to add another store in Changshi, making it easier for them to avoid frequent trips to Jinling. Adrienne wanted to be as close and available to her family as possible, and cutting off some business trips would allow her to balance her personal and working time.
Purple Cloud had also acquired an abandoned warehouse near the outskirts of the city, but Adrienne left the preparation and security to Uncle Shark, which baffled Myrtle. Myrtle couldn’t understand why Adrienne would entrust such important tasks to Uncle Shark, as she believed it required someone with more expertise and experience.
"Are you sure leaving the warehouse under Uncle Shark’s care is okay?" Myrtle couldn’t help but ask her best friend once Adrienne’s meeting with the branch managers of Purple Cloud was over.
"It’s fine, Myrtle. Uncle Shark knows what he’s doing," Adrienne reassured her. "He may not have the same level of expertise as someone with more experience, but he’s proven himself to be reliable and trustworthy in the past. Plus, I’ve given him clear instructions and guidelines to follow. I have confidence that he will handle it well."
Myrtle still had doubts, but she trusted Adrienne’s judgment and decided to give Uncle Shark the benefit of the doubt.
"Alright. I’m just worried others won’t take him seriously." She answered.
"You’ll be surprised at what else Uncle Shark is capable of." Adrienne merely shrugged. She was aware of her friend’s concern, but she gave the responsibility to Uncle Shark for a reason. The warehouse would be split into three parts, one of which would be used as the new lab for Lennox’s project. Myrtle had no idea Purple Cloud was serving as a cover to hide what was important inside the warehouse.
Lennox had accepted his grandfather’s request for him to rejoin Qin Industries, and he would be taking over one of its subsidiaries, Qin Motors, which his father used to run when he was still alive. Adrienne knew how important it was for her husband to know the root cause of their accident and who was responsible for his father’s death.
Though she knew Lennox would be exposed to danger, Adrienne didn’t have the heart to stop him. The only thing she could do was support him and make things easier for her husband. Lennox had been with her, supporting her on her quest for revenge, so how could she deny him the same support? She understood that uncovering the truth would bring closure for her husband.
As Lennox worked tirelessly in the new lab, Adrienne and Myrtle spent their days managing the other aspects of Purple Cloud. It was a busy time, with the new store opening and the warehouse still being prepared, but Adrienne was glad to have something to occupy her mind.
Lennox was rarely at home these days, but she understood his situation well. Sometimes she slept at night with her husband by her side, and sometimes she slept alone, knowing that his work was important and necessary. She admired his dedication and knew that their sacrifices would pay off in the end.
Lennox would return late at night and leave before the day breaks as he needed to drive from Jinling to Chiangshi back and forth. Adrienne had suggested he should stay at her penthouse in Jinling, but her husband insisted on returning home to her, regardless of the time he would spend on the road. He believed that being with Adrienne, even if it was just for a few hours, gave him the strength and motivation to keep going.
They had had this arrangement for the past two weeks, and Adrienne was starting to worry about her husband’s health. She noticed that he seemed more tired and stressed than usual, and she could see the toll the long drives took on him. Adrienne knew that if this continued, her husband might fall sick from exhaustion.
She had tried to wait for him to return home late at night, but she always ended up falling asleep before his arrival. One night, Lennox finally made it home before Adrienne could drift off to sleep. As he walked through the door, he found Adrienne seated at the edge of their bed, waiting for him. He knew she was worried about him, and he couldn’t help but feel grateful to have a wife who cared so deeply for him.
"I’m sorry, I’ve been so busy," Lennox said as he took off his coat and made his way over to Adrienne. "I promise I’ll make it up to you."
He knew that he was barely home, and his siblings hadn’t had a decent talk with him for some time now. Lennox knew that his brothers Liam, Vince, and Vaughn were about to leave soon, and he felt guilty about leaving all the responsibility of the preparation to his wife.
His responsibilities at Qin Motors were as taxing and demanding as those at Huayi. He was fortunate that Gavin understood his situation and was willing to cover for him at the moment. However, Lennox felt guilt for his wife. He made sure to give her a call whenever he had a break from work, but even their intimate moments had been put on hold by his constant absence.
Lennox was worried that Adrienne would get tired of waiting for him and get used to his absence. He didn’t want her to think his work was more important than their marriage and regret marrying him in the end.
When he learned about her tragic past, Lennox swore that he would treat Adrienne well and become a better husband for her. But now that he had rejoined the Qin family, he knew the pressure it put on their marriage.
Adrienne shook her head and pulled him into a tight embrace. "I’m just worried about you. You’re working yourself too hard."
Lennox sighed and buried his head in her hair. "I know, but I have to do this. I need to find out the truth about my father’s death." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Adrienne pulled back and looked up at him. "I know, and I support you, but I don’t want you to make yourself sick in the process. Maybe you should stay in Jinling for a few nights just to give yourself some rest."
She noticed the dark circles under his eyes and the exhaustion etched in every line of his face. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt for not doing more to help him.
Lennox shook his head. "I can’t leave you here alone. Besides, I feel better when I’m with you."
Adrienne smiled and placed a hand on his cheek. "I feel the same way, but I don’t want to see you exhausted and burned out. Promise me you’ll take care of yourself."
Lennox nodded and leaned in to kiss her. As their lips met, their pent-up emotions and desires came bubbling to the surface. They had been so busy lately that they hadn’t had much time for each other.
He pulled away, and only then did he notice the thin silk nightgown his wife was wearing. He groaned and pressed his forehead against hers.
"Gods, I’m such a lucky bastard to have you as my wife." He chuckled with his eyes closed. His hands rubbed her waist affectionately. "I want you, Addie, but I don’t have enough energy to give you what you deserve right now."
Adrienne’s eyes sparkled with desire as she leaned in to whisper in his ear. "Let me take care of you, Lennox. Let me show you how much I love you."
Lennox’s resolve crumbled as he pulled her in for a passionate kiss. He knew he shouldn’t, but he couldn’t resist his wife’s seduction. Adrienne moaned as Lennox’s hands roamed over her body, making her forget about everything else except for the pleasure they were sharing.
As they settled into bed, Lennox pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her waist. He rested his chin on her shoulder and breathed in her scent. Adrienne felt safe and warm in his embrace, and she closed her eyes, savoring the moment.
"I love you," Lennox whispered against her skin, but Adrienne had already dozed off.
As Adrienne drifted to sleep, Lennox knew that he couldn’t keep this up forever. He had to find a way to balance his work and his personal life, but for now, he was content to lose himself in his wife’s embrace.
The next morning, Lennox woke up feeling more refreshed than he had in weeks. He knew he still had a lot of work to do, but he felt more energized to face the day. He looked over at his wife, who was still asleep beside him and smiled at the thought of how lucky he was to have her in his life.
