Chapter 328: Valerie’s Fate (4)

His face twisted in fury, and he clenched his fists. "I can’t believe this," he muttered. "Derek and Airi... how could they do this?"

"Derek and Airi?" Valerie frowned and then followed her brother’s gaze.

Her face turned pale, seeing how intimate her sister and fiance were. She had suspected their affair, but seeing it with her eyes was a whole other level of pain and betrayal.

"Nathan, what should we do?" Valerie said, her voice shaking with emotion. "We can’t let them get away with this."

Nathan nodded, his expression steely. "You’re right, Valerie. We have to confront them and end this once and for all."

Valerie took a deep breath, summoning all her courage. However, even before they could confront their sister and Derek, the couple left arm in arm.

Nathan immediately settled their bill and pulled Valerie with him, intending to follow their sister. He called his driver and asked him to follow Derek’s car until they reached a hotel their family owned downtown.

Nathan was fuming with anger as they trailed Derek and Airi to the hotel. On the other hand, Valerie felt numb as she sat in the car beside her brother. She couldn’t believe that Derek, the man she planned to marry, could betray her like this. She stared out the window, lost in thought and wondering how everything had gone so wrong.

As they arrived at the hotel, Nathan quickly exited the car and stormed towards the entrance. Valerie followed him, uncertain of what was going to happen next. Nathan demanded the key to Airi and Derek’s room from the reception, threatening the poor woman to fire her if she refused to cooperate.

The receptionist hesitated momentarily but gave the room’s key card. Valerie apologized to the woman for her brother’s actions before following Nathan.

They made their way to the elevator, and Nathan pushed the button for the top floor. Valerie’s heart was beating so fast she could hear it in her ears.

The ride up was silent, and Valerie couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread as they approached the couple’s hotel room. Nathan stood before the door, his hand shaking as he reached for the handle.

"Nate..." Valerie held his wrist. "Are you sure about this?"

Nathan glanced at her and clenched his jaw. "I have to see this."

As the door opened, Valerie’s heart raced as she saw Derek and Airi lying in bed together, tangled in each other’s arms. Valerie couldn’t believe her eyes. Everything felt surreal, and she wanted to turn back time. But there was no denying it, and Valerie felt her world crashing down on her.

"Airi Xia! What’s the meaning of this?!" Nathan exploded in anger.

The couple immediately parted from each other. Their eyes widened in shock as they saw Nathan and Valerie.

"Nathan? Valerie? What are you doing here?" Derek asked in shock while Airi screamed and pulled the sheets to cover her naked body. His face paled, and he backed away, looking like a trapped animal.

Nathan’s eyes flicked over to Airi, sitting on the edge of the bed, looking just as scared and guilty as Derek. He knew what Airi had done to their family heirloom in the past, but he insisted that their father give Airi a second chance to change because she was still young. It was only then he realized the mistake he committed.

"Don’t bother explaining, Derek." He tried to stop himself from beating his future brother-in-law. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Airi started crying, her shoulders shaking with sobs. "I’m sorry, Valerie. I didn’t mean for this to happen."

"Valerie, it’s not what it looks like. I can explain." Derek chimed in, his expression softening as he looked at Airi.

Valerie scoffed. "Explain? You’ve been cheating on me with my own sister, and you have the audacity to say you can explain?"

Derek looked down, unable to meet Valerie’s gaze. "I’m sorry, Valerie. I never meant for it to happen. It just did, and I couldn’t help how I felt."

Valerie shook her head in disbelief. "You’re sorry? That’s all you have to say? You’ve lied to me this entire time, and you think ’sorry’ will make it all go away?"

Nathan stepped forward, his jaw clenched. "And you, Airi. How could you do this to your own sister? Have you no shame?"

"I guess there’s no need for us to get married then," Valerie glared at her fiance. "No wonder you didn’t want to discuss the preparation for the wedding with me because you are too busy fucking my little sister behind my back."

Valerie was grateful that she had yet to marry this man. If it wasn’t for Adrienne and Myrtle, she might have insisted on turning a blind eye to his affair and marrying Derek for Nathan’s sake. However, seeing how he was intimate with Airi, the possibility of being blinded by her rage and killing the cheating couple flashed in her mind. If Nathan wasn’t with her, Valerie wondered how she would deal with this scenario alone.

"How long have you been having an affair with my sister?" Valerie asked, her voice shaking with rage. She couldn’t wait to see him burn in hell for what he did to their family.

"Seven months, but it didn’t mean anything," Derek responded.

Airi ceased her tears and looked at Derek in shock.

"What did you say?!" She exclaimed. She couldn’t believe Derek would betray her to appease the Xia family’s anger.

"Do you really think I want to marry you?" Derek said smugly, "What could you possibly give me aside from your body? You are just an adopted daughter of the Xia family. Didn’t you throw yourself to me to spite Valerie? You think I have no idea what you are up to?" He laughed.

Airi paled and felt the room spinning. All this time, she thought Derek loved her and treated her like a queen. She never thought he would stoop so low and call her a gold-digger.

Nathan scoffed. "Is that so? Too bad it won’t change anything. Valerie won’t marry you anymore."
