Chapter 295: Two Mistress of the House (3)

Ayla nodded with a smirk. "Of course, it’s true, Mr. Han. Have you forgotten that you were the one who took my innocence? I didn’t want to tell anyone until I was sure about the baby. Your grandmother was over the moon when I told her we’re expecting."

Alistair’s fists clenched as he tried to control his anger. He couldn’t believe Ayla would stoop so low to get what she wanted. He had no feelings for her, and he never would. But he couldn’t easily brush off her claims, as the blood-stained sheet he’d seen the following morning after sleeping with her proved that he was the one who had taken her innocence.

Alistair felt confused and furious, questioning how he could have been careless and irresponsible. The weight of the situation now rested heavily on his shoulders, knowing that he had to confront the consequences of his stupidity.

"I’m sorry to disappoint you, Ming Jiang, but I can’t marry you," Alistair said, his voice firm and resolute. "I don’t love you, and I never will."

Ayla’s eyes flashed with anger, but she decided to rein it in. She knew she could not lose her composure when dealing with Alistair Han. She had to make him see she was a far better candidate to become his wife than her cousin, Adrienne Jiang. There was no way she would admit defeat to a loser like Adrienne, and she could not allow Adrienne to enter the Han family as Alistair’s wife. That position and Alistair’s love should be hers alone, and Ayla wasn’t willing to share them with anyone.

"Who cares about love, Mr. Han? Believe what you want, Alistair, but you will marry me. You have no other choice. Do you still think my dear cousin, Addie, would want to marry you after this? She’s already head over heels with Mr. Qin." She mocked Alistair with a sly smile, knowing she had struck a nerve. Alistair’s face turned red with frustration as he struggled to find a response to her taunting words.

"Addie had already cut off her ties with our Jiang family, and her relationship with Mr. Qin looked serious. Have you heard of it? It seemed Mr. Qin was willing to put a ring on her finger anytime soon," she added.

Alistair’s face reddened with rage as he processed Ayla’s words. The realization of Adrienne marrying another man hit him harder than he expected. He couldn’t help but wonder if his chances with her were truly over.

He clenched his fist tight as his eyes rimmed red.

’No, this couldn’t be,’ he thought. Alistair refused to accept that Adrienne would choose another man, which wouldn’t be him.

Ayla watched as Alistair struggled with his inner turmoil and smiled to herself. Her plan was working perfectly. She knew Alistair couldn’t resist the temptation of being with Adrienne again, and he would do anything to make that happen.

"Alistair, I understand you’re in shock, but I hope you’ll come to your senses soon. I’m carrying your child and won’t let you abandon us. Do you think your grandmother would allow it to happen? I’m carrying the heir of your Han family. There’s no way she would allow you not to marry me."

Alistair’s mind raced as he tried to think of a solution to this mess. He couldn’t let Adrienne go but couldn’t marry Ayla. However, his grandmother probably knew by now that Ayla was with his child and would force him to marry her into their family.

He glared furiously at the woman before him. Alistair wanted to marry Adrienne, not this conniving woman who tricked him into sleeping with her by pretending to be Adrienne. Alistair regretted failing to see past her deception, and now he was paying the price. The weight of his grandmother’s expectations and the consequences of his actions pressed heavily on him, leaving him with a sinking feeling in his chest.

Alistair took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down before he spoke. "I’ll take care of the child, Ayla. But I won’t marry you."

Ayla’s expression hardened, and she glared at Alistair. "You have no choice, Alistair. You have to marry me. If you don’t, I’ll make sure that everyone knows that you got me pregnant and abandoned me."

Alistair’s fists clenched, and he took a step towards Ayla. "You wouldn’t dare," he growled.

Ayla took a step back, fear flashing in her eyes. She knew that Alistair was dangerous and that she had pushed him too far.

"I would," she said, her voice shaking. "I’ll ruin you, Alistair. I’ll ensure everyone knows what kind of man you are. Do you still think Addie would want you then?" She let out a mocking laugh.

"Addie would never involve herself with someone capable of the things you’ve done. Compared to Mr. Qin, you would be nothing!"

Alistair’s face turned red with anger, his grip tightening on his fists. He glared at Ayla, his voice filled with venom. "You think you can destroy me? You have no idea what I’m capable of. Just remember, Ayla, revenge is a two-way street."

Footsteps approached them as he stood there, trying to form a plan. Stella turned to see who it was and gasped when she saw Old Madam Han walking towards them.

"Alistair, Ayla, what is going on here?" The matriarch demanded, her eyes sharp as she looked at the two of them.

"You aren’t trying to chase away Miss Jiang?" Old Madam Han narrowed her gaze at Alistair.

Stella looked away, pretending she wasn’t involved in this conversation. She was aware of Alistair’s obsessive nature and was worried about her daughter’s best friend since he showed interest in Adrienne. However, now that Ayla had come between him and Adrienne, Stella wasn’t sure what to feel or do.

Alistair turned to face his grandmother, and his expression softened. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"No, I didn’t. We were just talking." Old Madam Han scrutinized him briefly and then turned to face Ayla. "I trust you wouldn’t try to chase her away, Alistair. Since she’s carrying our family’s future, you should treat her with care."

Ayla swallowed hard and managed a weak smile. She knew her best supporter would be Old Madam Zhao. So long as this woman approved of her, Adrienne could not snatch her position in the Han family. There could only be one future Madam Han in this family, and Ayla was confident that would be her.

"Now, please send off Miss Jiang on her way. You should ensure that she’ll arrive home safe. We need to meet her family as soon as possible to plan your wedding." Old Madam Han said before turning to leave.

"Good. Very good, Ayla Jiang." Alistair sneered at the woman before him. "You are making me marry the wrong Miss Jiang and I’ll make sure you’ll regret forcing this marriage between us!"
