Chapter 283: Firstborn (3)

"What do you want?" He sneered, his face contorted with rage.

Lewis then remembered the wandering monk who deemed this daughter of his as the ’star of calamity’ for several years. Seeing her devious smile before him, Lewis thought he had spawned a devil with Rosemary Zhao. He should have discarded Adrienne the moment she was born had he known she would turn out like this.

Adrienne chuckled. "Now, this is new, Mr. Jiang. You are willing to listen to what I have to say. How generous of you." Her voice dripped with sarcasm as she took pleasure in Lewis’s desperation. She knew this was her moment to seize control and ensure the Jiang family’s downfall.

Lewis glared furiously at her. He knew he was in a tight position.

Lewis finally found his voice. "Adrienne, I understand you’re upset, but this is not how to handle it. We can talk about this privately."

Adrienne scoffed. "Talk about it privately? You mean, like, how did you privately dispose of my brother after childbirth? Or how Aunt Camilla privately orchestrated the murder of his adopted mother?"

The words hit Lewis like a punch to the gut. It seemed impossible to hide what he and his wife had done many years ago.

"Think about what you’re doing. You’re putting the entire family at risk." Lewis said his tone had a hint of nervousness to it.

"And yet you have no qualms about ruining mine and my brother’s lives." Adrienne retorted.

Cayden watched in horror as his sister revealed their family’s dark secrets. He couldn’t believe that his father and mother were capable of such heinous acts. However, he also understood that the entire Jiang family was in a disadvantage position . He couldn’t believe Adrienne could corner their family on the edge and hold them in the neck with a tight grasp. It was a game of power, and Adrienne had all the cards in her hand.

"Adrienne, Tell me what you want. I’ll do anything to save the company," Lewis said, his voice cracking with a mix of anger and despair.

Adrienne smirked. "Anything? That’s quite a bold statement, Mr. Jiang. How about you step down from your position as CEO and give up all your assets? You can leave with your life and your reputation intact."

She knew this was never enough to appease her and Hunter, but Adrienne wanted to see to what extent their father was willing to save the Jiang family. In her previous life, she begged her father while on her knees to help her and save her mother’s life, but he only scolded her and allowed Camilla to humiliate her further.

Adrienne hadn’t forgotten the pain and humiliation she suffered because of them; she wanted them to experience worse than she had endured. She wanted them to understand the depth of her suffering and the consequences of their actions. Adrienne was determined to make them pay for their deeds until nothing was left for the Jiang family.

Lewis shook his head, knowing he couldn’t agree with her demands. He had worked too hard to build the Jiang empire and wouldn’t let his daughter destroy it. There was no way out of this mess; he knew they were all doomed.

"I can’t do that, Adrienne. You’re asking for too much."

Adrienne’s expression turned cold. "Then I guess we have nothing to talk about."

Cayden watched as his sister stood up from her chair, her eyes still fixed on their father. He knew she was deadly serious, and their family was in deep trouble.

"Stop it, Adrienne!" Cayden exclaimed, his voice rising in anger. "This is all based on speculation. You have no proof!"

He couldn’t contain his anger and pounced at Adrienne to hurt her. However, before Cayden could lay a hand on her, Hunter stood up and punched him at full force. Cayden’s entire body jerked back from the impact, sending him sprawling to the ground. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

The room fell silent as Cayden groaned in pain, realizing his impulsive actions had escalated the situation further. While Hunter was robust and strong, Cayden looked scrawny and weak. Just one punch from Hunter was enough to knock Cayden down and make him question his decision to attack Adrienne. The punch’s force had physically hurt Cayden and shattered his ego.

"You dare to hurt my sister in my presence? You will not get away with this," Hunter seethed, his voice filled with fury. He strode towards Cayden, his expression incomparably cold.

Cayden looked up and saw Hunter’s face. The man before him exuded the temperament of a military soldier who wouldn’t hesitate to kill anyone they deemed their enemy. Even Lewis couldn’t utter a word as he looked at Hunter Nian. No matter how haughty Cayden was, he was still a commoner and no match against a military official who had undergone rigorous training to strengthen their body.

Cayden’s eyes flared with anger as he looked at their supposedly older brother.

"You dare to hit me?" He exclaimed.

"I just struck you, so what? Do you think, with your father around, he could stop me from beating you into a pulp?" Hunter’s tone was filled with ridicule, and then he glanced at Lewis Jiang. His mocking words immediately turned Cayden’s face red in anger. He couldn’t hide the disgust in his eyes as he looked at Hunter.

"Hadn’t I warned you before about not hurting or touching a single strand of Addie’s hair? So why did I hear you hurt her wrist yesterday?" He continued to question Cayden,

"If you ever lay a finger on her again, I will make sure you regret it for the rest of your life. Cayden Jiang, you better turn your sight when Adrienne is around; otherwise, if you dare to hurt her again, I’ll hit you senselessly whenever I see you!"

Adrienne held her brother’s arm and smiled at him. Hunter’s cold demeanor from earlier immediately disappeared, rendering their father speechless. He touched Adrienne’s shoulder and gently asked, "Are you alright, Addie?"

Adrienne nodded and took the hand he used to punch Cayden. "Brother, does your hand hurt?"

Seeing how this pair of siblings interact as if no one else almost made Lewis vomit blood at the sight of it. Adrienne was full of smiles. She was standing with an imposing air next to her brother, who exuded a dangerous aura, leaving Lewis and Cayden so furious that their faces turned into shades of red.
