Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 225: A Stroke of Luck? (1)
While Adrienne and Lennox were busy with their work, the news of them being spotted together at Nanchuan spread like wildfire on social media. Though Paparazzi tried to locate the couple, none found them, as Lennox’s security team had already anticipated this would happen. Many people immediately went to Purple Cloud in Nanchuan, hoping to get a glimpse of them, but the couple had already left the establishment using the back exit.
The couple’s discreet departure only fueled the curiosity and speculation surrounding their blossoming relationship. Rumors began to circulate that Adrienne and Lennox were purposely trying to keep their romance under wraps, adding to the frenzy of media attention.
Lennox was popular for being the previous heir of the Qin family and the son of a wealthy socialite, Abigail Li. At the same time, Adrienne was known for her stunning beauty and mysterious persona, making her and Lennox an irresistible target for the paparazzi. Despite their efforts to maintain privacy, the public’s fascination with their relationship seemed to grow stronger.
When Lennox and Adrienne arrived at the Huayi branch in Nanchuan, they immediately caught everyone’s attention. Some guests and employees discreetly took a photo of the couple standing beside each other while waiting at the elevator. Many noticed that the dark coat draped over Adrienne’s shoulder was Lennox’s.
’Woah! Such a beauty! My eyes are blessed today!’
’What a pair of lovebirds! I can feel the romance in the air.’
As they stepped into the elevator, Lennox wrapped his arm around Adrienne’s waist, pulling her towards him. Adrienne’s heart raced as she felt the heat emanating from Lennox’s body. She couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious, knowing that people around them were watching their every move.
Lennox leaned down and whispered in her ear, "Ignore them and focus on me instead. Let them talk. All that matters is that we’re together."
Adrienne sighed. "I can’t help it. It’s not like we’re celebrities. We’re private citizens of this country. I don’t understand why they must pay so much attention to us. We’re just two ordinary people enjoying each other’s company."
Lennox chuckled softly, his warm breath tickling her ear. "But maybe it’s because what we have is so special, they can’t help but be intrigued."
Adrienne smiled at his words. She knew Lennox was trying to reassure her in his own way. In her previous life, people used to demean and taunt her for being unworthy of becoming Alistair’s wife. She was used to being compared with her beautiful and popular cousin, Ayla Jiang.
However, that wouldn’t be the case now. Adrienne would make sure no other woman could get between her and Lennox, and Ayla wouldn’t have the power to make her feel inferior anymore.
Adrienne was determined to prove to everyone, including herself, that she deserved to stand next to Lennox. She would no longer let the opinions of others define her worth or meddle with her marriage.
Lennox’s secretary, who handled and organized his business schedules, welcomed them when they arrived on the top floor of the Huayi Nanchuan branch. This wasn’t the first time Adrienne had met Harold, as she had seen him a couple of times when Lennox was staying at the hospital, but her impression of him as stern and capable remained the same.
"Master, everything is prepared according to your instructions," Harold told Lennox. He then turned his attention to Adrienne and gave her a curt nod. "Madam, it’s been awhile."
By this time, Lennox’s close subordinates and Qin-Si guards already knew of their Master Nox’s marriage to Adrienne Jiang. Though they weren’t close with their new madam, many had heard good things about her from Irina, Kalista, and Leigh.
They had heard stories of Adrienne’s intelligence, grace, and kindness, which made them hopeful that she would be a worthy partner for their respected master. Some even secretly admired her from afar, eager to see how she would contribute to the household and their shared future.
Adrienne nodded at Harold. "I hope you’ve been well, Sir Harold."
Harold was taken aback, not expecting Adrienne to remember him.
"I’ve been well, thank you," Harold replied, a hint of surprise in his voice. Since Adrienne was part of the Jiang family, his initial impression of her wasn’t good. Who hadn’t heard of the shamelessness of her father?
When Lennox cleared his throat as a warning, Harold straightened his posture and pushed the bridge of his eyeglasses. "Please follow me."
Lennox’s office at Huayi was stunning. The office was an open-concept loft with a minimalistic design. The room was decorated with muted colors, and the furnishings were simple and modern. The floor-to-ceiling windows showed the entire city of Nanchuan as a backdrop to a huge, beautiful desk.
It had a sweeping view of the horizon, which never seemed flat but was constantly rolling, and an antiseptic scent that hinted at granite and maple hardwood. When Adrienne entered the office for the first time, she noticed how it mocked the other skyscrapers outside by saying that no matter how far you go, you’ll never reach it.
"It’s beautiful here," Adrienne commented. "At least it wasn’t as cluttered as Gavin’s office."
Gavin’s office was at the end of the hallway, and Adrienne thought its spot had the best view of Nanchuan, but she was proven wrong today. Lennox’s office was far more impressive, with floor-to-ceiling windows that showcased a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The natural light flooded the space, illuminating the sleek modern furniture and giving it an airy and inviting atmosphere.
"I’m glad you like it." Lennox smiled at her. "Since Gavin and I rarely come here, I decided to keep it minimalistic and less cluttered. I can’t say the same with the one I have in Changshi." He admitted.
"Gavin must have felt relieved that you’ve returned to work now. He has rarely taken a break for the past three years." Adrienne said as she sat on one of the leather couches while her husband sat behind his desk.
Lennox let out a low laugh. "That makes me feel bad, wife. I’m surprised you and Gavin are getting closer now."
Adrienne shrugged. "I can’t say he considers me a friend. He probably treats me well because we’re together."
"Don’t say that, Addie." Her husband frowned. "Gavin kept on praising you whenever he visited me overseas. He keeps questioning whether you are clairvoyant because every venture you take turns out to be successful. He admires your intuition and business acumen." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Adrienne’s eyes widened in surprise. "I had no idea he thought so highly of me. Maybe I should give him more credit."
