Chapter 207: Lennox Qin Returns (1)

Lennox Qin’s unexpected arrival caught everyone off guard. The man, who hadn’t been seen in public for years since his accident, attended Prosecutor Ji’s banquet. Rumors had been circulating about Lennox’s mysterious disappearance and the extent of his injuries. As he entered the room, whispers filled the air, leaving everyone curious about what had brought him out of seclusion.

Because everyone’s attention was drawn to Lennox Qin, no one noticed the sudden change in Adrienne’s expression. Adrienne’s eyes widened with shock as she watched Lennox Qin make his way through the crowd. She quickly averted her gaze, trying to hide her surprise and curiosity about his return.

This was the first time she’d seen him stand and walk on his own, and she couldn’t help but feel elated for him. She knew how hard Lennox tried to endure the pain the accident caused and the feeling of being worthless because it left him crippled in the process.

Adrienne admired Lennox’s determination and resilience, as he had refused to let his disability define him. She remembered the countless hours he had spent in physical therapy, pushing himself to regain his strength and mobility. Seeing him now, standing tall and confident, filled her with a sense of pride and admiration.

Three years had passed already, and Lennox had finally returned. Adrienne thought that with his absence, her feelings for him would diminish, but that wasn’t the case. Now that he had returned, her traitorous heart wanted nothing but for her to run towards him and pull him into a tight embrace.

She had tried to move on, to convince herself that she was better off without him, but deep down, she knew that her love for Lennox had never truly faded. As she watched him from a distance, memories of their time together flooded her mind, reminding her of the time they once shared.

It was Prosecutor Ji who first recovered from shock. Lennox was already standing next to Abigail. He hurriedly gave Lennox Qin a greeting, thinking that if he could manage to lure this man to his side, he would be invincible to his enemies.

"Mr. Qin, this is quite a surprise. You’ve honored this old man with your presence." He said it with a wide smile, thrilled at the thought of being acquainted with Lennox Qin.

Lennox Qin might have fallen from grace and lost the opportunity to inherit Qin Corporation, but he still commanded respect and influence in the business world. His presence alone could potentially turn the tide for anyone who aligned themselves with him. He and Gavin Si were both considered the crownless kings of Chiangshi. The old man knew that befriending Lennox Qin could open doors to unimaginable opportunities and power.

Lennox returned the smile, his eyes betraying a hint of skepticism. "The honor is mine, Prosecutor Ji. I’ve heard much about your reputation and couldn’t resist the opportunity to meet you in person."

His words were polite, but Abigail could sense a subtle sarcasm in her son’s tone. Abigail had always been perceptive when it came to her son’s true feelings, and she couldn’t help but wonder what had caused Lennox’s skepticism towards Prosecutor Ji. Perhaps there was more to their meeting than met the eye.

Abigail’s eyes then shifted to Adrienne. A sudden realization dawned on her. So it was related to her daughter-in-law, then.

"So why was everyone silent earlier? If I hadn’t seen the sign outside, I would have doubted if I had entered the wrong banquet hall." Lennox said with a dashing smile.

"I came here to see my mother, but who’s going to marry whom again?" He asked.

Prosecutor Ji failed to notice the underlying danger in Lennox’s tone. His face lit up, and he unabashedly said, "Mr. Han is seeking Miss Jiang’s hand for marriage, but it seems Miss Jiang’s priority right now isn’t to settle down. Don’t you also think Mr. Han is the most eligible bachelor in Chiangshi right now? He and Miss Jiang would be a perfect match."

Lennox kept the smile on his face, but his eyes immediately turned cold. He clasped his hands behind his back and straightened his form.

"Miss Jiang, you say? Which Miss Jiang Prosecutor Ji is talking about?" He asked, looking at Adrienne for the first time since his arrival.

Without waiting for Prosecutor Ji’s response, Lennox sauntered towards the Zhao family and greeted Cedric and Reese Zhao, who were standing nearby.

"It’s been a while since we last met," Lennox said, his voice filled with a hint of familiarity. Cedric and Reese exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond to Lennox’s sudden appearance and casual demeanor.

"Indeed," Cedric replied, giving Lennox a firm handshake. "It’s good to see that you’ve finally recovered, kid."

Adrienne raised a slender brow. She hadn’t expected that her grandfather was already familiar with Lennox. Lennox hadn’t even mentioned it to her in the past. Her grandfather spoke to Lennox with some familiarity.

Reese exchanged some pleasantries with Lennox but couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. There was something about Lennox’s nonchalant attitude that didn’t sit right with him, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Despite his reservations, Reese decided to give Lennox the benefit of the doubt and engage in polite conversation.

And then, finally, Lennox was facing Adrienne. Adrienne kept her expression neutral, but her heart was already pounding hard in her chest. Seeing Lennox standing before her, towering over her at his full height, left her almost breathless. She couldn’t help but notice the intensity in his eyes, which seemed to hold a hidden depth.

Did he miss her like she missed him? Adrienne couldn’t help but wonder if Lennox had felt the same longing and emptiness during their time apart. Did he still feel the same after their long separation?

Adrienne’s mind raced with questions, her curiosity growing stronger with each passing second. She desperately wanted to know if their connection had remained intact and if the bond they once shared still exists. The uncertainty of their reunion made her heartbeat quicken even more as she anxiously awaited for Lennox to say something.
