Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 176: Get Rid of Her (3)
Hunter and Irina were both waiting for Adrienne to leave the Xia estate, discussing what actions they would take next after finding out that Adrienne had been tailing around since yesterday.
"We should tell Miss Addie. Perhaps she has a better idea than us. It would do her no good if she confined herself to her home just because someone was following her." Irina commented, looking at Hunter’s face.
Hunter Nian was usually calm, but Irina knew that the man would do anything to keep Adrienne safe regarding his sister’s safety. Irina’s concern for Adrienne’s well-being was evident in her eyes as she spoke. She knew Hunter’s protective instincts would drive him to take swift and decisive action to ensure his sister’s security.
"Have you found out who they are?" He asked. It was a critical time for Hunter, and he could not afford to make any more mistakes before he returned to his military service.
"No, but Kalista and Leigh are already working on it. It won’t take long before we find out who’s behind it." She knew Adrienne’s safety was their top priority, and they wouldn’t rest until they had all the answers.
Hunter nodded, relieved that Adrienne’s new bodyguards were doing their best to keep her safe. He trusted Kalista and Leigh’s expertise and dedication to their jobs. However, the uncertainty of not knowing who posed a threat to Adrienne weighed heavily on him. He couldn’t shake off the feeling of responsibility and vowed to do whatever it took to ensure her safety.
"I just hope they haven’t gotten too close to Adrienne. She’s been through enough already." His voice was laced with concern.
Just then, Adrienne emerged from the entrance of the Xia estate. Her face had a hint of curiosity as she looked at them. She approached Hunter and Irina, her eyes searching for answers.
"What’s going on? What are you two discussing so seriously?" She asked.
Hunter took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to explain the situation to his sister. He knew she deserved to know the truth so they could devise a precautionary plan. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"You’re being tailed, Addie. We don’t know who they are or what they want, but we’re doing everything possible to find out." He said it reassuringly.
"The Jiang family couldn’t wait to get even with me after their recent loss. I’m sure one of them has sent those people." She paused as she considered her next move. Adrienne knew she had to stay one step ahead and protect herself.
Since she was being followed, Adrienne knew she had to limit her exposure in public until they figured out who they were dealing with. She couldn’t afford to take any risk that could potentially put her or her loved ones in danger.
"I’ll be staying with the Zhao family for the meantime, then. I know you cannot fully do your duties while constantly worrying about my safety. Since I’ll be staying with the Zhao family, I doubt they would try to do anything. They would surely wait for the perfect time once I stepped out. Call Uncle Shark. He’ll be useful this time."
Hunter and Irina nodded in agreement. They knew that Adrienne’s decision was for the best. They understood that staying with the Zhao family would provide an added layer of protection and minimize the risk of any potential harm.
"Don’t worry, Addie. We’ll take care of everything." Hunter assured her.
Adrienne smiled at her brother, feeling grateful for having him by her side. She then turned to Irina and said, "Thank you for everything, Irina. I know you’ll do everything you can to ensure I’m safe."
Irina smiled back and said, "Of course, Miss Addie. You can always count on me."
They got into her car and drove off to the Zhao family estate. Irina then gave Uncle Shark a call. Adrienne only summoned him if he was needed. They needed all the help they could get to track down the people following Adrienne. Although Uncle Shark was a notorious loan shark, he had a vast network that Adrienne could exploit.
Old Madam Zhao was thrilled when she heard her grandchildren would stay with them for a few days and asked the servants to prepare rooms. Adrienne allowed her grandmother to cling to her, asking her several questions about this sudden visit.
"I heard from my brother that the doctors have allowed Mom to stay home. I want to help with the preparation to make sure Mom will be comfortable once she returns home. Grandma is still recuperating from her previous illness, so how can I allow her to leave everything to you?" She told her grandmother, but Old Master Zhao knew that Adrienne and Hunter had other reasons.
Old Madam Zhao was moved to hear Adrienne’s words. She could see the genuine concern in Adrienne’s eyes and the love she had for her mother. Old Madam Zhao felt touched by her granddaughter’s selflessness and determination to make sure everything was taken care of for her mother’s return.
"It’s been a long time since your mother came home here. Though this isn’t what I have in mind, I’m glad Rose will finally return home after so many years." She said this with her eyes shining with tears.
"Don’t cry, Grandma. I’m sure Mom is happy too. Wouldn’t it be nice if she woke up and found herself finally home? I do not doubt that this is also what she wants." Adrienne said, trying to console her elderly grandmother.
"Addie is right, Grandma." Hunter decided to join their conversation with a genuine smile on his face. "You have to get used to having us here. We won’t be going anywhere anytime soon."
Old Madam Zhao’s face brightened up as she wiped away her tears, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "You’re right, my dear," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "Having you both here brings me so much joy and comfort. I couldn’t ask for anything more."
