Reborn with the Infinite World Panel-Chapter 73: Star Survival 15
Nan Chu’s group had already found five treasure chests.
After climbing the tree, Nan Chu spotted a treasure chest in the distance, perched on a cliff.
They headed in the direction of the chest, and then Nan Chu retrieved it.
A few minutes later, they discovered another treasure chest buried in the snow.
The chest in the snow had a small red flag on it, which is how they found it.
They searched until noon and returned to camp.
Nan Chu’s group had found six treasure chests by the time they got back. Five of the chests contained instant noodles, and one contained salt.
Their group had already secured the win because they found six treasure chests.
Nan Chu’s group gave the salt they found to Beili’s family as gratitude for their hospitality the previous night.
After that, they went back to their camp to make a fire and cook the instant noodles.
They cooked two packs of noodles and divided them among the four to eat.
After eating, Hu Liang and the other two rested in the tent.
Nan Chu went to find Beili to have her teach some simple Tuva Language.
Nan Chu had a good memory and a knack for languages, so after an afternoon of study, she was able to hold simple conversations with Grandma Lanna and the others.
Through this, Nan Chu learned that the next day they planned to slaughter a yak.
Slaughtering the yak was necessary to obtain meat and hide for the winter.
Grandpa Titus invited Nan Chu and the others to watch the yak being slaughtered.
Nan Chu agreed.
Returning to camp, Nan Chu informed Hu Liang and the others about Grandpa Titus’s invitation.
Yu Miao said, "I’ve never seen a yak being slaughtered before."
Hu Liang and Wu Jun hadn’t either; Wu Jun had seen pigs being slaughtered, but never cows.
After chatting for a bit, they cooked two more packs of noodles, and after eating, they rested.
Meanwhile, when Xue Yifan and Zhai Xueying were searching for treasure chests, they stumbled upon a Tuva family’s home, but unfortunately, they encountered only elderly Tuva people there.
The elders couldn’t speak Chinese, only the Tuva language.
Neither Xue Yifan nor Zhai Xueying understood them, and one of the elderly ladies was frightened by the sudden appearance of so many strangers.
Her husband nearly attacked Xue Yifan and Zhai Xueying.
Luckily, a local translator promptly intervened and explained the situation.
After clarification, Xue Yifan and Zhai Xueying left quickly.
Because this family was afraid of strangers.
When Xue Yifan and Zhai Xueying got back to camp, Lai Yuzhu noticed their empty-handed return and asked, "You’ve been out for so long and didn’t find any food?"
"Well, did you find any?" Zhai Xueying retorted.
"If I had, I wouldn’t have asked you," Lai Yuzhu said with a tinge of irritation, "Seriously, we’re all starving, and the two of you didn’t think of bringing back some food."
Zhai Xueying shrugged, "Sorry, I’m useless, couldn’t find food. If you’re so capable, why don’t you go find some."
Lai Yuzhu replied, "It’s already dark, how can I look for food now?"
"Then we’ll just have to endure hunger," Zhai Xueying added, "Another day, tomorrow it’ll be over, and we’ll finish shooting."
With that, Zhai Xueying went into the tent to rest, exhausted from a day of treasure hunting.
She and Xue Yifan had found three treasure chests and planned to continue searching the next morning.
All three chests contained instant noodles; they ate two packs and kept one, which they hid in Xue Yifan’s jacket, to share the next day.
Early the next morning, Zhai Xueying and Xue Yifan got up to continue treasure hunting.
About an hour later, Hou Ming and Lai Yuzhu got up.
The two also set out to find treasure chests together.
They were in luck, finding the last treasure chest within a few minutes. Upon opening it, they found it also contained a pack of instant noodles.
They immediately split the noodles and ate them.
After eating, they decided not to search anymore and returned with the treasure chest.
They were more successful than Xue Yifan and Lai Yuzhu since they had found a treasure chest.
Even if they lost, the viewers wouldn’t vote to eliminate those who found a chest; they’d vote to eliminate those who didn’t.
At noon, the director announced the results.
Hou Ming and Lai Yuzhu learned their group had found four chests, and they both turned to look at Xue Yifan and Zhai Xueying.
Lai Yuzhu demanded, "You found a treasure chest, why didn’t you tell us?"
"You didn’t ask, so why should I say anything?" Zhai Xueying replied blankly.
Lai Yuzhu was about to say more when the director’s voice came over the intercom, "It’s time for the elimination vote. Number 1 is Xue Yifan, Number 2 is Hou Ming, Number 3 is Lai Yuzhu, Number 4 is Zhai Xueying."
"Voting lasts half an hour; the person with the most votes will be eliminated."
They waited tensely for half an hour until the voting results were announced.
"The eliminated person is... Number 3, Lai Yuzhu."
"How is this possible?" Lai Yuzhu couldn’t believe it, "Are the viewers blind? I found a treasure chest, how can they eliminate me?"
[Tsk, this Lai Yuzhu is treating them like they’re blind.]
[The eyes of the masses are clear and bright.]
[Lai Yuzhu deserved to be eliminated.]
[Because we’re not blind, we eliminated you.] 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Lai Yuzhu couldn’t believe it, but that was the result; she was eliminated.
Lai Yuzhu cried in grievance and hid in the tent.
Zhai Xueying and Xue Yifan exchanged glances but didn’t offer comfort.
Comforting wouldn’t help anyway.
Meanwhile, on Nan Chu’s side, the atmosphere was great; they had gotten up early to watch the Tuva people slaughter the yak.
They used the most humane method possible, trying to make the yak’s death less painful.
The yak’s blood was collected in a bowl, and then they began skinning it.
About two hours later, the yak was fully butchered.
Grandpa Titus sold some of it to neighbors.
The director also spent some money to buy yak meat for the staff’s meals.
As for the guests, there was none for them.
But Grandpa Titus was generous and invited Nan Chu and the others to share in a hearty lunch.
After the lunch, Nan Chu discreetly approached the director to borrow money to repay Grandpa Titus and his family at a later time.
The four of them had eaten quite a bit; one meal for them could feed Grandpa Titus’s family for a whole day.
After getting the money, Nan Chu wrote a note and secretly left the money in Beili’s room.
And so the night passed. The next morning, the live broadcast ended.
Nan Chu and the others left the village.
The next day, they flew back to Beijing.
Nan Chu returned home first and rested for a few hours before going to Jiang Han’s house.
When Jiang Han opened the door, he saw Nan Chu’s shoes and knew she had arrived.
"Off work now?"
"Yeah."
"Then let’s eat."
"Alright."
The two went to have dinner together. After eating, Jiang Han gave Nan Chu a gift he had prepared.
It was a necklace.
"I saw this necklace while on a business trip and thought it would suit you, so I bought it," Jiang Han said, "Let me put it on for you."
Nan Chu sat down, and Jiang Han took out the necklace and put it on her.
"It really suits you," Jiang Han said with a smile.
Nan Chu touched the necklace, "Thank you."
"By the way, Auntie’s birthday is in ten days. Is she planning a celebration?"
Jiang Han was touched that Nan Chu cared about his family. He smiled and said, "There’s no celebration planned. My mom’s already arranging for a trip with my dad to enjoy some alone time."
"Since there’s no party, I’ll send the gift in advance," Nan Chu said.
"Alright."
They chatted for a bit and watched some TV together before heading to bed.
