Chapter 85: Chapter 85: We Will Get Married in the Future

Holly Winslow planned to use her husband’s money to treat Zeke Zane and the others to hot pot as a thank you for all their support lately.

Originally, it was supposed to be eight people, all boys except for her. But then Mortimer Quincy had Paul Powell invite Luna Lynch, bringing the total to nine.

They didn’t have class that afternoon. Gabe Chaucer brought in two large bags of snacks to celebrate the monthly exam results and had Valerie Walsh in the front row pass them out.

Valerie Walsh was the only female student officer in the class—the discipline monitor. Gabe Chaucer had a good impression of her and would usually call on her for any tasks.

Whether it was intentional or not, Valerie Walsh ended up distributing the snacks to Mortimer Quincy’s group.

Every other student got two lollipops, two packs of cookies, and two small bags of spicy strips. Mortimer, however, got four lollipops, four packs of cookies, and four small bags of spicy strips.

Holly Winslow shot Mortimer a death glare, looking for all the world like she’d just caught him cheating.

Mortimer met her gaze. "..."

He laughed, exasperated.

He pushed all the snacks toward her and threatened in a voice only they could hear, "Darling, believe me when I say I’ll take you home for some ’exercise’."

Holly: "..."

She huffed, ignoring him, and stuffed all the snacks into her schoolbag. It was an adorably childish gesture.

The sight made Mortimer’s lips tingle with the urge to kiss her.

Pantheon and Zeke Zane weren’t fond of sweets, so they offered their lollipops to Holly. "Here, cousin, you can have these."

Mortimer stared at the heart shape on the lollipops, and a wave of jealousy washed over him. He said disdainfully, "Holly only eats *my* lollipops."

Pantheon and Zeke Zane: "..."

Holly, who had been about to take them: "..."

Right after school let out, Holly got a call from Wyatt Winslow, who said he was already at the school gate.

After hanging up, she gave the money to Mortimer and explained, "My dad’s here to pick me up, so I can’t go. You go with the others."

Mortimer frowned instinctively, but he didn’t dare defy his father-in-law. He grunted an unwilling "Mhm," then stuffed the money back into her pocket. "Use this to buy new clothes. No short skirts or shorts. If you buy them, I’ll rip them up." He emphasized the last sentence.

Holly: "..."

Wyatt Winslow’s car was parked just beside the school gate. Mortimer walked Holly to the car and politely called out, "Uncle Winslow."

Wyatt Winslow grunted in acknowledgment. "Get in."

Ever since the incident with the Lewis Family, Wyatt Winslow hadn’t been so resistant to Mortimer.

Holly explained with a cheerful smile, "Dad, he’s going to a get-together with his classmates, so he’s not coming home right now. We can go."

Wyatt Winslow said, "Oh," and turned to grab something from the back seat, handing it to Holly to give to Mortimer.

It was a local specialty: beef jerky.

Holly leaned out the car window and handed it to Mortimer, blinking. "It’s from my dad."

"Thank you, Uncle Winslow."

After taking it, Mortimer glanced at Holly’s seatbelt and said with a hint of seriousness, "Buckle up. And get your head back inside."

Holly nodded obediently and fastened her seatbelt.

Once the car with the four rings on its logo drove away, Pantheon looked incredulous and whispered gossipingly, "No way, Mortimer. You guys have already met the parents?"

Mortimer raised an eyebrow. "You can’t compare."

Pantheon: "..."

’That really hits a guy where it hurts.’

It was true, he couldn’t compare.

If it were him, his legs would’ve been broken.

The usually quiet Mortimer suddenly spoke again. "My parents really like her."

"We’re going to the same university."

"And we’re going to get married."

Pantheon, hit by the triple combo: "..."

FUCK!!!

He exclaimed in exasperation, "Zeke, let’s just murder Mortimer! I can’t take this anymore."

Zeke Zane glanced at Mortimer, then said grimly to Pantheon, "You, with your personal best of 140 in math, versus Mortimer, who gets a perfect score every time. Which do you think is more likely: murder, or being murdered?"

Pantheon: "..."

Chase Hawkins, who was out of the loop, laughed loudly and added, "Murder: 0.1%. Being murdered: 99.9%. HAHAHAHA."

"What the hell do you know, you single dog," Pantheon shot him an annoyed glare.

Chase Hawkins punched him lightly. "Forrest, I’m telling you, no personal attacks. There are four or five single guys in our group. We’ll jump you."

The group of students left the school gate, joking and roughhousing.

「Meanwhile」

Holly told her father her monthly exam score, taking the opportunity to boost Mortimer’s "good student" image. "Dad, I got a 721 this time, isn’t that great? Hehe, the math test was a little hard. Mortimer went over several similar problems with me, but I still didn’t get them right."

"Mortimer is so amazing. He scored 747. Perfect scores on everything except Chinese. The school even gave him a three-thousand-yuan scholarship."

She truly thought Mortimer was amazing.

Hearing his daughter praise another boy, Wyatt Winslow pressed his lips together. He just grunted, "Work harder next time."

Holly giggled and sent Mortimer a text: `Honey, how are you going to reward me? I just praised you to my dad. You’re one big step closer to being the perfect son-in-law.`

Mortimer had just walked into the hot pot restaurant. He chuckled when he saw the message and typed for a moment: `Any kind of physical reward is fine. Kisses, hugs... hmm, you can get on top of me, too.`

Holly managed to keep her composure through the first part, but when the words "on top of me" entered her sight, she suddenly started COUGHING.

’That guy Mortimer is getting more and more audacious.’

Wyatt Winslow pulled the car over to the side. "What’s wrong?" he asked with concern.

Holly quickly turned off her phone screen and put it down, lying, "It’s nothing. Just got some dust in my mouth."

"Wait here." Wyatt Winslow got out of the car. Three or four minutes later, he returned with a bottle of mineral water for Holly.

Holly took a few sips and giggled, buttering him up. "A kid with a dad is a real treasure."

Wyatt Winslow paused for a moment, then, understanding, gave a faint smile.

...

When Mortimer didn’t get a reply from his darling, he raised an eyebrow. ’She must have gotten embarrassed and angry.’

Pantheon ate a piece of crispy fried pork. "The crispy pork here is delicious. I’ve had it a few times. You guys should try it."

Mortimer tried a piece. It was indeed pretty good. He waved over a waiter. "Two orders of the crispy pork to go."

The waiter nodded. "Why don’t you wait until you’re finished eating to get it to go? The crispy pork isn’t as good when it’s cold." As he spoke, he gave Mortimer a couple of extra glances.

"I’ll take it now. I’m leaving right away," Mortimer said with a slight frown.

Zeke Zane looked up, confused. "You’re leaving now?"

"I’m going to take this to Holly first. I’ll be back in a bit. You guys go ahead and eat, don’t wait for me," Mortimer said.

The Andor Community was only a seven or eight-minute bike ride from here.

Zeke Zane: "..."

’Why did I even ask?’

Pantheon: "..."

He held it in for a long time before he finally couldn’t help but say, "Mortimer, can you give a guy a break?"

"I can order a few more plates of crispy pork for you."

Mortimer raised an eyebrow and added, "Order whatever you guys want."

Chase Hawkins and the others knew his personality, so they didn’t stand on ceremony with him or think he was trying to dine and dash.

Paul Powell didn’t think much of it. The whole class had seen how good Mortimer was to Holly. He said, "Just come back quickly. You’re the main event today. We all need to have a toast together."

"Okay." Mortimer nodded.
