Chapter 107: A Gown Fit for a Goddess

"Based on your complexion and features, the most flattering colors for you would be jewel tones," she said thoughtfully. "Like deep sapphire blue, royal purple, crimson red, and soft champagne. These shades will emphasize your dark hair and make your eyes stand out beautifully."

Elara showed me a list of gowns she thought would look good on me.

All of them looked beautiful, with gorgeous colors and sparkling beads, but my eyes instantly went to a backless purple gown that looked like something a goddess would wear.

The color seemed to have several shades of purple, shimmering like stardust scattered across silk.

The sheer off-shoulder sleeves draped like wings, each layer dusted with glitter that I knew would catch the light whenever I moved. Not only that, but I also noticed thin strands of pearls cascading from the sleeves.

Honestly, I thought it was the most stunning gown on the entire Grade-B shelf. I only noticed it after Elara finished choosing the designs that suited me, and she really knew my taste.

"How about this one?" I asked, pointing at the purple gown.

Elara smiled. "That’s a good choice, Host," she said. "This gown would be perfect combined with your blue-purplish eyes."

[Do you want to purchase it, Host?] Penny asked.

I lowered my head and hissed under my breath when I saw the price $45,000 flashing right under the gown.

Forty-five thousand dollars for a gown. This was a fucking scam!

"Can I sell this gown later if I don’t want it anymore?" I asked, trying to sound calm.

[No, Host. You cannot sell system items back to the system. And if you sell it to normal people, you’ll end up losing money.]

I let out a long sigh because what Penny said made sense. No matter how beautiful the gown was, without a luxury brand behind it, people wouldn’t buy it at a high price.

But... maybe there was another way to get my money back. Maybe once I become famous, I could auction off this gown and set the price at twice what I paid for it.

I smiled and chuckled softly at the thought.

"I want to purchase it," I finally said.

[Purchase confirmed.]

[Deducted $45,000 from Host’s account.]

[Remaining Balance: $273,476]

I let out a long groan the moment I saw my balance drop from three hundred thousand to the two-hundred-thousand range. My heart actually hurt. It felt like I had just thrown money off a cliff.

But it was fine. It was all for a good cause!

If this dress could steal everyone’s attention and boost my husband’s reputation, then that $45,000 was a worthy sacrifice.

Besides, Lando already offered to use his money to book a makeup artist and hairstylist. I had my own money, but if he insisted, then I would let him spend his instead.

Maybe that way, he would stop threatening Henry—ugh! I kept forgetting to scold him because he said he would cut off Henry’s allowance if I didn’t use his card!

Why did I always forget?

It was all his handsome face’s fault! How was I supposed to stay mad at someone who looked like that?!

"Then, Elara, can you also recommend a makeup artist and hairstylist who would suit me?" I asked my stylist assistant.

Elara nodded. "Of course, Host."

She then selected a hairstylist and makeup artist who had high ratings on the internet. I quickly sent them messages and asked if they were available to be booked for the date I wanted.

I was honestly worried they wouldn’t be able to take a last-minute booking, but luckily, their schedule was free. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

At that moment, I realized they were makeup artists and stylists who were still starting their careers, and because they didn’t have much promotion yet, not many people knew about their talent.

Lucky me. I got great artists before they became expensive.

After making the appointment and agreeing on the price, I sent the bill to Lando and happily let him take care of it.

"I guess that’s settled," I said to Elara. "Thanks for helping me today."

"Anytime, Host," Elara replied gracefully. "You are welcome to ask for my styling assistance at any time during your subscription."

Honestly, after talking to her, I understood exactly why Penny called her the best. Compared to real stylists, Elara was not only cheaper, but she also came with zero drama. There were no egos, no mood swings, no last-minute sabotage.

At least, that had been my experience before. My real-life experiences had been... a nightmare. My stylists used to force questionable outfits on me, even when I clearly knew those looks would make me dull or awkward.

It wasn’t just once or twice either. I got dragged online multiple times because of their choices. People said I looked older than my age, or like I walked straight out of a circus tent.

And honestly? They weren’t wrong.

But the worst part wasn’t even the outfits, it was the timing. They always pulled their little power plays right before big events, leaving me with no choice but to wear whatever they brought.

A few times I brought my own outfits, and we ended up getting into huge arguments. My manager yelled at me too, calling me selfish, just because I refused to look like a disaster.

Till this day, I still don’t understand why they tried so hard to make me look bad. I asked many times to switch stylists, but they always rejected my request.

So eventually, I stopped caring and hired my own stylists, no matter how much my manager nagged me about it.

Thankfully, now I didn’t have to feel stressed every time I needed to attend an event. At least I knew Elara would never try to sabotage my appearance on purpose.

After deciding everything I would wear for the gala, I finally let out a relieved sigh and lay down on my bed peacefully.

That peace lasted only until my phone rang. Marissa’s excited voice came through,

"Good news, Helcia!" Marissa’s voice burst out as soon as I answered. "Roselle Beauty agreed to your $30,000 fee! And you’ll also get 3% commission on every purchase through your link!"
