Chapter 95: Martyrdom in Love

Xu Si’s feet dangled in mid-air, unable to perceive what was happening around her. Just a few steps away, those probing eyes were truly gone.

Pei Zhen’s observational skills were genuinely terrifying.

Even half-asleep and half-awake, Xu Si was startled and couldn’t help but ponder: I’ve already covered my face, yet Pei Zhen can still tell what I’m thinking. Is this actually a superpower? Can he do this with everyone? I have no clue.

Xu Si dutifully bent her arms in front of her chest, gently drawing warmth from beneath the man’s clothing. Only in moments like this could she treat him as a real human, rather than a dangerous Devil.

「After leaving the hotel.」

The surrounding sounds seemed to become more hollow, the dew felt heavy, and the night breeze whispered across her ankles, chilling the touched skin to an icy coldness.

Pei Zhen did not seem to have any intention of putting Xu Si down.

Xu Si wasn’t in a hurry to get down, not because she did not want to walk, but rather because her limbs were too weak, and she could hardly move. The alcohol grew increasingly potent, her breathing shallow and heavy, ready to fall asleep again at any moment.

The journey was long.

Xu Si could vaguely sense Pei Zhen carrying her into a car, which sped along the road. The sound of the wind, though muffled by the windows, was still agitated.

She seemed to think of something. She tried to raise her hand to tug his sleeve, but it wouldn’t lift. Not until Pei Zhen finally spoke to her:

"What do you want to say?" he asked.

Xu Si lay motionless, resting against his leg, her brows slightly furrowed. Her throat was raw and hoarse as she struggled to speak, "Where... are you taking me? Where’s my assistant?"

Pei Zhen’s lips curled, his hand reaching out to adjust the black coat covering her. "We’re not going to the Underground City, rest assured. Your assistant and bodyguards have been invited to be my guests. Be good, and I’ll let them go tomorrow."

That night, the car stopped. The sound of a door opening wasn’t gentle.

Half-awake, Xu Si felt Pei Zhen lift her hand to his shoulder, effortlessly carrying her once again, step by step towards a very private estate hotel.

Sounds of hotel staff helping to open a room door and footsteps on carpet reached her ears.

People vary in drunkenness, and Xu Si was the type whose mind drifted between consciousness and unconsciousness, able to think a little but with limbs so stiff she couldn’t move—an utterly limp burden, like a sack of rice.

Carrying her all this way, Pei Zhen never complained of being tired.

He turned on the lights and gently placed Xu Si on the bed. He then removed his coat, revealing her form under the light.

Turning to look at Xu Si’s drunkenly flushed face, beneath the crimson was her fair and dewy skin, her features as vivid as a wild Rose with its petals misted. Her lipstick was partially worn off, but her lips still had the texture of red silk.

He extended a finger, wiping away the shiny spots on her face, using the soft pad of his finger to erase the tear stains.

Seductively, he tilted his handsome face, gently touching her lips with his own.

The fresh scent of orchids.

Xu Si sniffed haphazardly. A strong, tingling electric current spread from her lips, especially captivating in the quiet night.

She was instantly entranced.

But Pei Zhen recognized her intent. The next moment, he bit her lip lightly, unceremoniously—drawing a trace of blood. He wiped the blood away with his index finger and smiled gently.

After a while, with an ethereal voice, he said,

"I’ve gotten my revenge. This time, I forgive you.

"An affair is fine, but only with me. If there’s a next time, then I’ll join you in dying for love."

After saying this,

He walked to the foot of the bed. His clean, slender fingers grasped the heel of her shoe, deftly removing it and letting it drop to the ground, then tucking her cold feet back under the covers.

He pulled the blankets up to cover her.

Turning off the light, he walked out of the room,

Leaving Xu Si alone to sink into the darkness.
