Chapter 85: Scum Girl Xu Si

Xu Si lowered her eyes and let out a faint smile. "Oh."

She didn’t probe further.

Her lack of curiosity and her decision not to align with any gang members had put the man in floral clothing at ease. Leaning against the railing, he laughed, revealing his true intention for striking up a conversation.

"I’m really curious, how did an outsider like you manage to get on this ship? Do you know some big shot?"

Xu Si replied, "I naturally have my ways."

Everyone who came here was no fool; they instantly sniffed out profitable opportunities.

The man in floral clothing didn’t know the rule about getting on the ship with a Purple Card, but he was quite eager to learn how an outsider managed it, so he asked with an unabashed grin, "Tell me, will you?"

"Sure," Xu Si touched the Australian White Pearl on her ear. "What will you trade for it?"

"You’re buying gossip, right? I’ll tell you some gossip."

Xu Si glanced at him unemotionally. "What gossip?"

"Let’s talk about the Triad Society gossip from just now. I bet you don’t know the whole story. They wouldn’t let an outsider like you in on those things. It seems we’re fated to meet today; let me share it with you."

Xu Si looked him over from head to toe, scrutinizing him deeply. Finally, she curled the corner of her lips. "Let’s hear it. If it’s something I don’t know, I’ll tell you how to get on the ship."

She didn’t disclose how much she knew. Such equivocal speech was best at deceiving people. For the sake of profit, some people had no choice but to reveal their most closely guarded secrets.

The man in floral clothing pondered for a moment. Leaning against the low railing, he recounted the scene he had witnessed that year.

"The current leader of the Triad Society and those oddballs with him didn’t actually come from the Society itself. They were cultivated by Organization X; they were the lowest-ranked Drug Testers in Organization X.

"The people in Organization X loved researching grotesque drugs. Some were turned into giants, some into cripples, some grew tails, while others lost their lives.

"But from what I know, the leader of the Triad Society was injected with the most terrifying drug."

The man in floral clothing recalled that Organization X had many projects back then. The drug injected into the Triad Society’s leader was their latest creation. It was said that after receiving a sufficient dosage, it was a narrow escape from death, a true test of endurance. Ordinary people could become geniuses. A genius could develop extraordinary talents, becoming powerful as if possessing superhuman abilities. They’d be more agile, possess formidable mental faculties, and their senses would become so acute they’d seem less human, almost godlike.

But the downside was especially apparent. After enduring too much, he couldn’t control his violent emotions, nor could he be manipulated by others. He was disobedient, heedless of commands. Locked up in chains specially made by Organization X, he was tortured, becoming neither human nor ghost. Those who were useless to the organization had to be destroyed, along with the drugs. The people in Organization X all said he was a most perfect failure.

But then something happened. He somehow took control of that group of giants and toppled Organization X. This forced the researchers to flee the Underground City and scatter to the surrounding islands to survive.

As the man in floral clothing reached this point, he chuckled. "The last time I went there, he was locked in an iron cage, crawling on the floor, nearly starved to death, begging me for water... To be honest, you should meet him. He doesn’t quite look human, just the type you women fancy. Even I, a man, felt pity."

Xu Si felt a pang of heartache. She tugged at the corner of her lips, her face expressionless as she smiled. "Is that so?"

After a pause, she asked an irrelevant question, "Did you give him any water?"

The man in floral clothing whistled lightly. "Do you take me for a good Samaritan? Save everyone? I gave him a piss."

Xu Si’s knuckles cracked as she clenched her fists. Her body tensed as she stared at the man’s malicious grin. Her own smile faded, her radiant and unrestrained beauty seeming to bloom silently against the backdrop of the dark, sea-filled night, on the verge of exploding with anger.

What had she heard? This person pissed on Pei Zhen? How humiliating that must have been.

Xu Si’s eyes began to redden. She took a small step back, eyeing the height of the railing. Pain throbbed at her temples, and her chest heaved violently.

Her bad temper screamed that she couldn’t stand to see such a person remain smug any longer! Not for one more moment!

In an instant, she lifted her leg and, with a fierce kick from her high heel, struck the man squarely in the chest with its sharp point. She used great force; she had a habit of working out year-round, so the strength behind her kick was not insignificant. With one kick, she sent the man tumbling into the sea.

A LOUD SPLASH echoed, accompanied by the man’s coarse wails, like the frantic barking of a startled wild dog.

"Damn it, what the hell! Why did you kick me? I can’t swim!"

Xu Si walked to the railing and looked down at him, her gaze indifferent. Her red lips parted slightly as she uttered a rare curse. "To hell with you."

"Your poor mother worked so hard to raise you. If you’re this stupid, don’t even bother trying to be human. Even if you died and reincarnated, people would dig up your corpse just to whip it!"

The cronies who had previously been talking to the man in floral clothing started to gather around. "Hey, woman, are you looking to die?"

Xu Si pulled out a gun. A shot rang out in the twilight. Amidst the scent of gunpowder, she stood alone, laughing arrogantly and recklessly. "You think I’m still afraid of you now that we’ve left the Underground City?"

This scene alarmed everyone. Crew members ran out of the cabin, urging Xu Si to put down the gun. After all, there were many Triad Society members around. They had seen the commotion and initially hadn’t planned to intervene. However, upon seeing the style of her gun, they approached with interest, their eyes flickering with danger and curiosity.

Xu Si quickly assessed the situation and took out the necklace she had gotten from Pei Zhen’s neck, dangling it from her fingertip.

In an instant, a giant pushed through the crowd and stood out. He fired two shots at those threatening her, then surveyed everyone, completely shielding Xu Si behind him. His voice carried a weathered tone. "This is a guest of the Triad Society, and we will take responsibility for her. It’s best if everyone minds their own business."

「That night,」

Xu Si threw a huge fit, yet she didn’t have to face any consequences. The suddenly appearing giant provided a strong sense of security. He stayed within five meters of her, deterring anyone else from approaching. It was as if to warn everyone that the Triad Society was at the height of its power and would not tolerate any provocation.

At one point, Xu Si went to the restroom. When she came out, she found the giant still standing guard by the door, flipping through a magazine. In his enormous hands, the magazine looked as small as a children’s book.

Xu Si blinked and leaned against the doorframe, curious. "Why don’t you ever talk to me?"

He was too silent. He hadn’t asked her name, nor why she had caused a scene, and he hadn’t introduced himself either.

The giant kept his head down, reading his book. He glanced at her twice, turned a page, and said heavily, "I don’t like to talk."

Xu Si was taken aback.

Alright, a man of character then.

She thought for a moment and then asked, "Did you save me because of this necklace?"

The giant replied again, "Yes."

Xu Si knew then that this necklace was indeed useful.

She didn’t press him further, not wanting to force him to do something he disliked. She walked onto the deck and looked towards the Underground City. It was far in the distance, and she could only see a faint glimmer of light. Her thoughts began to drift towards... certain indescribable things.

She wondered if Pei Zhen had woken up yet. He must be furious, knowing she had slept with him... and then run away.

The sea breeze, carrying the lingering heat of autumn, blew fiercely against Xu Si’s face, making her cheeks flush with a touch of shyness and awkwardness.

Sigh. She really was a scumbag.

「Underground City. Triad Society headquarters, top floor of the mansion.」

Wide, dark drapes shrouded a vivid, enticing scene. The man sat up shirtless, the blanket draped over his abdomen, revealing well-defined abs where every muscle group was perfectly delineated. The lingering effects of the drug still hadn’t worn off, leaving his thoughts slightly dizzy and adrift.

His exterior was unnervingly calm, but inside, he was already going insane.
