Reborn to Redeem: Their Abusive Love-Chapter 102: savior
He tilted his head slightly upward, the muscles of his arm clearly delineated as he tied up his loose hair, the red mole on his nose emitting a cool light. From Xu Si’s perspective, she could only see his drooping eyes from the side, unable to discern the emotions on his face.
The boxing ring was not like the Underground City; there were no seats and no spectators. Besides the vast Octagonal Cage, there was just some professional training equipment around. Xu Si didn’t disturb his enthusiasm, leaning against the door and quietly watching his... great physique... no, the boxing match.
After he finished tying his hair, Pei Zhen pulled off the clothes draped over his shoulders and threw them out of the Octagonal Cage, where someone quickly came up to catch them.
The next second, Xu Si’s pupils suddenly constricted.
Pei Zhen charged at a giant with incredible speed, using his elbow to block the giant’s attack. Then, with both hands, he tightly grasped the giant’s fists, his fingers pressing on the giant’s hand bones, forcing the man back in an instant.
The giant furrowed his brow, his speed not sluggish in the slightest as his other fist swung over. Pei Zhen twisted his neck indifferently. That fist smashed into the steel, denting it.
Xu Si turned pale, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at the caved-in metal, her mind buzzing. Was this for real? If that punch had landed on a person... could they still be alive?
Her heart skipped a beat as she suppressed her worry. No one would joke with their own life, she tried to tell herself, but the thought clearly lacked conviction. Pei Zhen was exactly the kind of person who loved to joke with his own life. A headache. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Xu Si frowned delicately, still unsure whether to call out to Pei Zhen. Hei Shi walked over and handed her a bottle of water. "Sister-in-law, don’t worry, the boss knows what he’s doing."
"Thank you."
Xu Si took the water, her cool face still showing concern as she continued to watch, calm yet hesitant.
In just that short amount of time, Pei Zhen flipped the giant by raising his leg at a bizarre angle, his hand, wrapped in bandages, tightly gripping the giant’s throat.
The smoky grey of his eyes seemed to be tainted with an obsessive, blood-red hue. It made one wonder if, should he lose control, he could truly strangle the man before him with his bare hands.
Suddenly, his fingers loosened slightly, as if he had sensed a worried gaze. A very unfamiliar feeling. No one had ever looked at him like that from outside the Octagonal Cage. Those gazes had held disdain, excitement, admiration, joy, and even hatred. But never concern.
The murderous urge from moments ago gradually receded. Like a fire cooling on its own, the heat in his body dissipated little by little.
Pei Zhen tilted his head slightly, his gaze suddenly shifting toward the source of the stare. A woman in a brown coat leaned against the doorframe, silhouetted against the light. Her long hair was tied up, revealing a slender, swan-like neck. Bathed in the soft white glow of a lamp, her form was haloed, the light mingling indistinctly with the mist from outside. Her lips were red, her teeth white, her skin as pale as the moon.
His eyes were still fiercely red. The only thing he could see clearly were the woman’s eyes, brimming with aching concern. So beautiful that it made him think of only one word. —savior.
He completely released his grip on the giant’s throat and slowly straightened up. His peripheral vision caught the medicine bottle in the woman’s hand. A slight smile touched his lips. With a deliberately languid turn, he walked slowly to the edge of the cage, gestured to someone outside for his coat, and draped it over his left shoulder.
A sound from the giant behind him reached his ears. Xu Si watched with her own eyes as the giant pushed himself up from the ground, bracing on one knee. His fingers clenched into a fist, and he lunged swiftly toward Pei Zhen.
She couldn’t help but shout, "Azhen, dodge!"
Pei Zhen’s lips curved into a wicked smile, and he deliberately didn’t dodge. He raised his bare arm to shield his face, his other hand reinforcing it to block the giant’s fist.
His voice was hollow, yet tinged with threads of amusement as he said, "Ah, Xiaohei, that really hurts. Didn’t I tell you? Don’t hit the face."
The next second, his leg lifted. He kicked the giant out of the Octagonal Cage.
