Chapter 141: Chapter 141: The Useful Her

Gong Yan walked up to Lin Zhiyi, his face looking terrible.

He started speaking with the same tone of having endured immense humiliation.

"Zhiyi, are you also laughing at me inside? In the end, he is still one step ahead."

"Young Master, do you have some sort of persecution complex?" Lin Zhiyi coldly retorted.

"What... what did you call me?"

Gong Yan looked at Lin Zhiyi in surprise.

Lin Zhiyi repeated, "Young Master."

"Zhiyi, don’t be like this. I just was..."

"Just saw the scarf around my neck, so you wanted to use this matter to suppress your uncle, right?" Lin Zhiyi cut in. "Stop saying you like me, okay? I can’t bear it."

Having said that, she turned to leave.

Gong Yan’s eyes turned extremely sinister. He reached out and gripped her wrist tightly, preventing her from leaving.

"Zhiyi, don’t talk to me like this. You know very well how I feel about you."

Lin Zhiyi struggled a few times, but he gripped her even tighter. There were guests coming and going around them, and arguing would only draw criticism.

After all, Chen Hongwei was Gong Yan’s uncle and had personally acknowledged his despicable thoughts towards her.

Lin Zhiyi no longer struggled, just looking at Gong Yan with a sense of ridicule.

"Feelings? What feelings? Seeing how deep I’m stuck in the mire?"

"Young Master, although you were standing in the corner during the live broadcast, only half of your face showing, I still recognized you."

"You claim to care about me, but when everyone thought the woman in the room was me, you chose to watch coldly."

"When your aunt had someone push Shen Yan’s face close to the camera, you even stepped aside to give them room."

"Do you really think I don’t know what you’re thinking?"

"In the end, you think I’m someone who has been touched by another, tarnishing me as if it tarnishes him."

"You have no capability yourself, so you try to humiliate him through me! You don’t like me, you just like the useful Lin Zhiyi. But I’m not your trophy!"

After she spoke, Lin Zhiyi forcefully pulled off the scarf around her neck!

Perhaps having his true feelings exposed made him even more uncontrollably angry, even his usually well-masked expression flickered.

Fortunately, Xue Man stepped forward and reminded him,

"Young Master, there are many prominent figures around; you wouldn’t want to add more gossip for the Chen family, would you?"

Hearing this, Gong Yan ultimately cared more about his own reputation and let go of Lin Zhiyi’s hand.

Lin Zhiyi then managed to free herself.

She exited the hotel and happened to see Gong Chen’s car across the street.

He was leaning against his car, the blood-red of his fingers stark against his pristine appearance. His suit was open, one hand in his pocket, both precious and dangerous.

He exhaled a smoke ring, his figure slightly distorted in the swirling smoke.

Until Song Wanqiu, as if nothing was wrong, gracefully walked up to him.

She glanced at Lin Zhiyi out of the corner of her eye and proudly looped her arm through his. He did not resist, and they both got into the car together.

As he closed the car door, Gong Chen looked up and saw Lin Zhiyi’s bare neck, his eyes darkening, a cold glint flashing through.

But Song Wanqiu urged him, and he then drove away.

Lin Zhiyi, without turning her head, got into Xue Man’s car.

With the matter resolved, Xue Man’s suspended heart finally settled. She specially treated Lin Zhiyi to dinner and then took her back to her apartment.

Exiting the elevator.

A waft of cigarette smoke drifted over.

The corridor lights flicked on in response, but one light was broken, starkly splitting the corridor into light and darkness.

The man still stood in the dark, his eyes hidden in the shadows, deeply watching Lin Zhiyi.

It was Gong Chen.

Under the light, Lin Zhiyi felt a chill running down her spine. She pursed her lips and, standing her ground, said coldly, "Uncle, do you need something?"

"Let’s talk inside."

"No need, we have nothing to talk about." Lin Zhiyi stared at the man forcefully.

Gong Chen’s fingertips flickered with light from the fire; walking slowly, his figure gradually became clearer, yet he didn’t completely step out of the darkness.

He stood on the edge of light and shadow which fell on him, highlighting his deep and handsome features, breathtakingly beautiful. Slightly lifting his eyes, his gaze was profound, like a fierce beast ready to pounce on its prey at any moment.

However strong Lin Zhiyi was, she instinctively swallowed under his gaze.

Gong Chen lifted his hand to check his watch. "In a few minutes, your neighbor will be back from work. Are you sure you want to talk about our matter here?"

"How do you know?" Lin Zhiyi was surprised.

"If I want to know, I can find out," Gong Chen said indifferently.

As they spoke, the elevator started moving downwards; it seemed someone had pressed the call button. Lin Zhiyi’s heart instantly tightened.

Her neighbor was a high-level female white-collar worker who almost always came back home at this hour after overtime.

The two had little interaction, only greeting each other in the mornings occasionally.

The only thing Lin Zhiyi couldn’t adapt to was... the female white-collar was really nosy.

She loved to pry into other people’s affairs.

Last time Lin Zhiyi had a mosquito bite on her neck, and after the female white-collar saw it, she kept insinuating about who her boyfriend was.

She even asked around in the homeowners’ group chat.

If the female white-collar saw Gong Chen here, she would be famous in the homeowners’ group by tomorrow.

The elevator numbers continued rising. Lin Zhiyi had a feeling that it definitely would be her neighbor.

At last, she was still manipulated by Gong Chen; she glared at him with gritted teeth and frantically opened her door.

Gong Chen, however, walked leisurely behind her.

But the elevator had reached their floor; it was indeed the neighbor.

Lin Zhiyi turned around, grabbed Gong Chen’s hand, and pulled him into the room, forcefully shutting the door.

Almost simultaneously, the female neighbor walked out of the elevator wearing high heels.

Lin Zhiyi thought she had escaped trouble, but then the neighbor turned and knocked on her door.

"Miss Lin, are you home? I just came back from overtime and bought some wontons. I realized I don’t have any vinegar at home, could you lend me some?"

Standing behind the door, her heart pounded like thunder, not daring to respond, planning to wait for the neighbor to leave on her own.

Suddenly, Lin Zhiyi felt a burning sensation on her back, and she gasped in surprise.

The neighbor knocked again: "Miss Lin, I heard a noise, so I brought you some wontons too."

Accompanied by the neighbor’s voice, Gong Chen’s hot breath hit Lin Zhiyi’s neck, causing her to get goosebumps.

She wanted to get away, but in the next second, Gong Chen’s slender fingers climbed onto her neck.

He whispered in her ear, "The scarf?"

"It was left in the banquet hall, either thrown away as trash or picked up by someone. I don’t know," Lin Zhiyi said casually.

She just wanted to tell Gong Chen that she didn’t care about his stuff at all.

The man behind her moved closer, and their overlapping shadows fell on the door panel.

Then, Lin Zhiyi’s neck stiffened, and she intensely felt the warm touch of his fingertips on her pulsing neck.

As if the next second, her neck would be pierced.

"Where is it?"

"I don’t know... Ah."

Gong Chen seemed satisfied with her response, aggressively moving closer to her neck from behind.

Lin Zhiyi was pressed against the door, his hand gripping her waist, the door panel trembling slightly, and outside was her neighbor...
