Chapter 336: He is ignoring her

Earlier, she had not realized how vast this woods was, and to think that this was still a part of the Main Mansion territory made her feel like it was a whole vast town in itself.

Ella squatted in front of Adrian and pressed her hand on his wound. As the blood seeped through the gap between her fingers, her hand trembled slightly.

The sight of crimson brought back the memories of her past life, "There is too much blood..." She stood up in a flash.

The moment she turned around, Adrian grabbed her hand.

"I am fine," He began to pull up the sleeve of his riding suit.

Ella looked over her shoulder, but she did not let her gaze wander off his eyes, "I don’t know when they will find us. Let me go..."

Adrian’s brows tugged together.

"Adrian, do you trust me?"

Adrian’s grip did not budge from her wrist.

Ella raised a brow.

The man sighed and released her hand, "Don’t go too far. There are traps ahead."

But one couldn’t tell if Ella heard him or not. Because the moment he released her hand, she vanished into the darkness.

Adrian’s brows remained knit together as he glanced at the direction in which she left. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

But only after she was out of his sight did his face reveal a hint of pain.

Adrian leaned back on the trunk of the tree and pinched his lips into a thin line.

’Neigh’

The black horse approached Adrian and nuzzled his face on his shoulder twice before it lowered its body and sat on the ground.

Soon, there was the sound of approaching footsteps.

Adrian looked up at Ella who dropped to her knees in front of him.

Ella unzipped her riding jacket and took out fists of leaves.

Adrian looked at her questioningly.

"Earlier when the horse had gone mad, I was looking for a safe spot to jump. This... I spotted a patch of wild marigold flowers nearby. The leaves will stop the bleeding to some extent and also act as a disinfectant..." As she spoke she put a mouthful of leaves in her mouth.

Her face contorted a little.

Adrian grabbed her chin, "You..."

Ella chewed it and spat it in her hand, "You might find it a little disgusting, baby... But just hang in there. I can’t have you chew up these unwashed leaves..."

Ella sighed in her heart. At the end of the day, Adrian was a pampered princess from the core.

One who was a germaphobe. She would be sinning by letting him do these things.

She applied the paste of leaves carefully on his wound, "Baby, just hold it for a while. Later, you will wash up properly..."

Even for herself, it would be disgusting if somebody applied their saliva on her body. For a germaphobe like Adrian, it would be a torment.

But while she was focused on the wound, she did not see the calmness on Adrian’s face. There was not even a hint of disgust in his eyes that just remained fixated on her.

After a couple of seconds, Ella wiped her sweat with the back of her hand, looking at Adrian’s wound that was properly covered in the paste.

Although the wound looked bloody and garish, there were only small claw marks there. And lucky for her, the bleeding slowed down quite a lot.

"There is the horse too..." Ella moved to take another mouthful of the leaves in her mouth when the fistful of leaves suddenly disappeared from her hand.

Ella looked at Adrian in disbelief as he put the ’unwashed’ and ’unclean’ leaves in his mouth, chewed it without a single change in his expression and then applied it on the black horse’s hind legs.

It was only after he returned to his sitting spot did she snap out of her shock.

After recovering from what she just witnessed, Ella finally remembered to ask, "This woods is a part of the Main Mansion, right?"

Adrian nodded once.

"Then why would there be traps here? And what kind of traps are they?"

Adrian paused for a brief moment before he explained it.

As it turned out, these traps were set in the woods after some previous incidents.

The King Family had many enemies and sometimes, they would hire assassins or such kind to invade the Main Mansion, which was no less than the representative of the King’s Family legacy.

It was very hard to breach the boundaries of the main mansion because it was guarded from all sides.

Except, the woods which was left unguarded since it was adjacent to the training grounds and on the other side was the main highway that led out of the Main Mansion premises.

They did not want the place to look heavily guarded so as to not intimidate the family members of the branch families.

"So, someone managed to breach through these woods?" Ella got the gist of it.

"Yes."

Adrian did not say anything other than that one affirmation. But Ella had a feeling that there was more to this entire story.

Moreover, there were animal traps placed in the woods to catch any attempt of breaches and alert everyone. But there was not a single guard in sight.

It was almost like... this place was treated like a forbidden place.

Ella sank in silence as she contemplated it.

Her gaze slowly drifted off to the white horse that seemed to be sleeping and her eyes darkened slightly, "It is, after all, not as gentle as they said..."

The insinuation in her tone was clear but there was no reply.

Getting no response from Adrian, she tilted her face to look at him.

Under the pale glow of moonlight, Adrian barely looked like the prim and proper heir of the King Family.

His riding suit had been taken halfway off revealing his pectoral muscles, his biceps, his bloodied wound and the messily applied green paste.

His hair fell over his pale face messily. And his dark eyes glinted with an undecipherable look that seemed a bit familiar to Ella.

He looked at her for a moment before he averted his gaze again.

Ella’s eyebrow twitched. It couldn’t be—

"You are still not giving me cold shoulders, are you?" Ella fully turned to him.

No response.

"Adrian?"

No response.

He did not even look at her.

Ella’s mouth opened and then closed.

"You... Didn’t we make up just now?"

No response.

"How can you go back to ignoring me after talking to me?" Ella looked at the man in disbelief, "Even kids don’t do that!"

No response at all.

Ella could still feel the bitterness of the leaves in her mouth. This ungrateful bastard!

Worst of it was that looking at his wounds, she felt even guilty to curse him in her heart.

Well... Very well...

Ella laughed in her heart. Truly ’the Adrian King’ thing to do. When he was displeased, he would treat people as air and she was no exception to such a treatment.

Nodding to herself, she rose to her feet, "Fine. Fine. If you don’t want to talk to me, so be it. I can just wait over at the opposite tree till somebody comes to rescue us from this godforsaken place—’’

Ella had just turned around and taken two steps when her wrist was suddenly yanked back.

Her gasp cut off as her back slammed into the rough bark of the tree. In the very next breath, Adrian’s mouth crashed onto hers.

His kiss was wild, almost violent, as though he’d been holding himself back until something inside him finally snapped.

His hand dug into her waist, the other caging the side of her neck, holding her in place as his lips ravaged hers.

Ella’s eyes widened.

For a moment, she froze completely, unable to respond.

Adrian paused briefly, looking into her eyes before he deepened the kiss.

Ella’s eyes fluttered shut, her fists clutching his half-open riding suit, feeling the heat of his chest and the rigid lines of his muscles beneath her palms.

He kissed her like a drowning man gasping for air, his tongue sweeping into her mouth, desperate and unrestrained, devouring her with a hunger that made her knees buckle.

She whimpered against his lips as her body pressed tight against the tree with nowhere to escape.

And then, suddenly, Adrian broke away just enough to lean his forehead against hers, his ragged breath fanning her lips.

Ella slowly opened her eyes as she looked at him, only to see a hint of vulnerability in his eyes.
