Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 283: My Mom Invited You Home for Dinner
Godfery Shaw was completely bewildered. Nancy Allen had recently shown dependency and closeness to him, but never had such a clear gesture.
Did she really know what she was doing?
Of course, Nancy Allen knew what she was doing. It was her first time initiating affection; though she had a child who was a few years old, she hadn’t truly been in a relationship.
Back then, it felt like her brain was stuck in a door when she liked Marsh Smith. Marsh would only give her a look of disdain and indifference, and then she married Godfery Shaw—one feigned distance, while the other was focused on revenge. Their relationship was not like a married couple, but like two neighbors living together, occasionally helping each other.
They’re not neighbors now, so Nancy Allen was certainly going to put in some effort.
Godfery Shaw dared not move, nor did he dare breathe irregularly.
Nancy Allen gave Godfery Shaw a peck, exaggeratedly smacking her lips, the corners lifting into a smile like a cat that ate the canary.
Then she placed her hands on Godfery Shaw’s head, playing with his hair.
Godfery Shaw’s hair was very good-looking, both black and shiny, and Nancy had long wanted to run her fingers through it, only she was too shy before.
Today, it was rare that Godfery Shaw hadn’t woken yet, so she boldly got her hands on it.
It was actually softer than she imagined, but just too short. She wondered what Godfery Shaw’s hair would look like if it were longer—perhaps like the prince in a fairytale that the princess always talked about.
Godfery Shaw felt the tiny hand on top of his head and couldn’t hold back any longer, so he moved slightly.
Nancy Allen quickly withdrew her hand from Godfery’s head.
Godfery Shaw said softly, "Nancy, good morning."
Nancy Allen feigned calmness, as if she hadn’t done anything before, and quietly returned, "Good morning."
Godfery Shaw looked at her proper face and only felt that today’s sunshine was exceptionally warm.
Godfery Shaw couldn’t help but let out a low laugh.
Nancy Allen’s ears slightly shifted. Was Godfery Shaw laughing?
It must be an auditory hallucination, since no matter whether happy or unhappy, this person always kept a straight face. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Seeing Nancy Allen’s appearance, Godfery Shaw didn’t say another word, but the smile on his face deepened.
Godfery Shaw assisted Nancy Allen in freshening up, and they stepped out together.
Today, Nancy Allen was still busy running around for matters related to the Allen family, and Godfery Shaw accompanied her.
Everything went very smoothly.
Nancy Allen knew that a big reason why things went so smoothly was because Godfery Shaw was by her side, and Godfery Shaw had hired a seemingly excellent lawyer to help her.
The resolution was so quick that even the Allen family was taken aback.
It was as if overnight, everything had returned to normal.
Even the Allen family business had inexplicably improved, because Godfery Shaw had placed a large order...
In the hospital.
The three members of the Allen family were silently packing their things; Clara Goodman was fine and ready to be discharged.
All matters were resolved, and the family’s silence didn’t mean they weren’t happy—it was mainly that things developed in such a face-losing manner.
They had fought and struggled for months over this matter. When Nancy Allen woke up wanting to return to Riverwood City, they had kept it from her, not wanting her to worry.
As a result, Nancy Allen brought Godfery Shaw back, and everything was resolved in two days...
Charles Allen couldn’t help but ask, "Is Nancy staying at Godfery’s place now? Victor, have you gone to see?"
Edward Allen shook his head, "Been busy with family matters these days; hasn’t had time to go. Godfery is really someone you need to notify in advance if you’re going to his place."
Charles Allen furrowed his brow, "Will we need an advance appointment to go?"
Edward Allen pondered, "An appointment isn’t necessary, though Godfery is particularly defensive—anyone besides his sister is an outsider."
At this point, Clara Goodman spoke quietly, "You all might be outsiders, but Godfery called me mother-in-law."
Charles Allen and Edward Allen both turned their heads to look at Clara Goodman, feeling a bitterness in their hearts.
Clara Goodman seemed to ignore the expressions of the father and son and directly arranged, "I’m getting discharged today, have them come back for dinner."
Charles Allen and Edward Allen’s faces became even more solemn.
Edward Allen signaled to his father with his eyes.
Charles Allen coughed and said, "Are we really acknowledging that brat? Truth is, I’m a bit worried that his temperament is too extreme, concerned he might bully Nancy."
Clara Goodman rolled her eyes, "What else can you do? Forcefully bring Nancy back to separate them?"
Charles Allen was speechless.
After all, it’s the daughter they’ve only just reunited with; they have to promise her anything she wants. How could they forcefully bring her back?
After deciding, the three members of the Allen family let Edward Allen call Godfery Shaw.
"I have to call?" Edward Allen pointed to his nose.
Charles Allen, not daring to oppose his wife, was naturally unkind to his thick-skinned son, saying gruffly, "If you don’t call, then who will? Do you expect me to put my pride on the line to call?"
Edward Allen was helpless but had to call, wanting to say that he also had face to maintain.
Unwilling inside, but with no choice, Edward Allen made a second call to Godfery Shaw under the watchful eyes of his parents.
Godfery Shaw was accompanying Nancy Allen listening to the TV, picked up the phone, and said coldly, "What’s the matter, speak."
Edward Allen almost choked, "Godfery Shaw, what’s with your attitude? Is answering my call difficult for you?"
Godfery Shaw frowned and directly hung up.
With anyone besides Nancy Allen, his patience was always thin.
Edward Allen was able to have his personal number only because he was Nancy Allen’s family.
In the hospital, Edward Allen looked at the disconnected call, dumbfounded, "He... he dared to hang up on me."
Charles Allen’s first reaction was relief that he wasn’t the one to call, otherwise, it would be embarrassing.
Clara Goodman frowned, "Who told you to talk nonsense? Did you expect Godfery Shaw to greet you with a smile? Call again."
"Mom, don’t I have any pride? Godfery’s attitude should earn him some difficulty from us, can’t we be so nice to him any longer," Edward Allen said, struggling.
"What pride do you need? Quickly call again," Clara Goodman ordered.
Edward Allen furiously dialed the number again.
This time, without waiting for Godfery Shaw to speak, Edward Allen straightforwardly said, "My mom asked Nancy to bring you, to come home for dinner tonight!"
After Edward Allen spoke, he heard Godfery Shaw speaking on the other end, "Nancy, mother-in-law invites us for dinner."
Then Godfery Shaw replied on the phone, "Okay, we’ll be back tonight."
Edward Allen heard Godfery Shaw agree and hung up before Godfery Shaw could.
For nothing else, just to avoid Godfery Shaw hanging up.
After hanging up, the more Edward Allen thought about it, the more annoyed he became, feeling he had been too polite, and the previous call hadn’t gone well. He should have said a few more provocative words, so eager to hang up.
Once a seriously upright young man, now, when it came to his sister’s lifelong matter, he was dissatisfied everywhere, with no one being good enough for his sister.
Charles Allen was similar; whenever he thought of Godfery Shaw, he felt like a flower thief, about to steal his daughter, unwilling in every way.
However, Clara Goodman was in a good mood, considering Godfery Shaw not only looked good but was excellent enough. His determination to stay with Nancy till death proved he loved Nancy greatly, the kind suited for her. As the saying goes, a mother-in-law looking at her son-in-law becomes fonder the more she sees.
The three members of the Allen family completed the discharge process and returned home.
Meanwhile, Godfery Shaw was a little nervous, continuously preparing gifts for the visit.
Nancy Allen leaned close to his ear and whispered with a chuckle, "Don’t be nervous, even the ugly bride has to meet her in-laws."
