Reborn in the 80s: She Rewrites Life with Radiance-Chapter 86: Going to the Troops
Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Going to the Troops
When Li Yifan mentioned it, Ye Hao also realized who his uncle was and guessed who Li Yifan’s father was.
He only knew that Li Yifan came from a good family background, but didn’t expect it to be this significant.
Ye Hao was somewhat silent.
"What’s wrong? Shocked?"
"A little bit, I didn’t expect you to come from such a prominent background."
Ye Hao reacted, smiling as he spoke.
"Joking with me now. Don’t you already know what kind of person your brother is? You know best how we’ve made it through together. I’ve never mentioned it because I didn’t want to live in the shadow of my ancestors."
Li Yifan spoke quite openly; he had mentored Ye Hao, and Ye Hao was well aware of Li Yifan’s journey.
Both fell silent for a moment.
After eating, the two went to the mall together.
It was a coincidence that Ye Hao ended up at the same store where Gu Yi had previously bought a quilt.
He also bought two four-piece sets and several quilts. He actually wanted to buy a bed, but they couldn’t bring it back with the car they had.
He stood by the bed contemplating how to get it back, thinking about whether he should have procurement deliver it for him someday.
The shop assistant, seeing his dilemma, approached him.
"Comrade PLA, are you planning to buy this bed? If you’re inconvenient, we can deliver it to your door."
"Sure, could you also send what I just bought along with it?"
"Of course."
"Could you deliver it by two o’clock?"
Ye Hao thought that delivery during his break would not delay his afternoon training.
"Absolutely."
Ye Hao paid, left his address with the shop assistant, and then went to buy some small items needed at home.
Finally, he and Li Yifan got in the car ready to return to the army.
"Didn’t realize you were so attentive."
Seeing what Ye Hao had bought, Li Yifan was truly surprised at his previous impression of him.
"Having a wife means thinking about more things."
Ye Hao said, suddenly missing Gu Yi, wishing she could come soon to see the home he had set up.
He wondered what she was doing now, whether she was drawing or sleeping.
Li Yifan noticed Ye Hao lost in thought and didn’t disturb him.
He wasn’t sadistic; if he continued asking, Ye Hao would certainly shower him with love talk, which wasn’t suitable for him as a single guy.
The store’s efficiency was quite swift, and shortly after Ye Hao and Li Yifan reached the base, the things he bought were delivered.
Ye Hao had the vehicle drive straight to his courtyard gate.
He estimated everyone might be napping; the road was empty, otherwise, the truck entering would have attracted a crowd.
Seizing his rest time, Ye Hao aired the quilts, washed the four-piece sets and towels, and hung them in the courtyard.
After training in the afternoon, he skipped dinner and rushed to the courtyard to retrieve the items he aired at noon.
He looked at the freshly made bed, now just waiting for Gu Yi, the lady of the house.
The Gu Yi whom Ye Hao constantly thought of was busy preparing for her final pre-exam practice.
With Wang Yuan’s mother’s guidance, Gu Yi felt her painting skills had greatly improved.
On the exam day, she went to the exam site with Wang Yuan.
"Sister Yi Yi, don’t worry, my mom said you definitely have no problem."
Wang Yuan comforted Gu Yi, afraid she might be nervous.
"Hmm, I’m not nervous."
Gu Yi wasn’t really nervous, feeling much more confident in this exam compared to the previous cultural exams.
"Let’s cheer for each other; once we pass this, we can study together in the future. Just thinking about it makes me happy."
Imagining going to school together, Wang Yuan’s eyes turned into crescent moons from smiling.
Her mood uplifted Gu Yi as well.
The two entered the exam hall, chatting and laughing.
Both exams were in the morning, first with sketching, followed by gouache painting.
After the exam, Gu Yi returned to the neighborhood with Wang Yuan.
"Yuanyuan, could you keep an eye on the results for me? I need to head out this afternoon, and I’m not sure when I’ll be back, so I’ll call you then."
Having completed the exam, Gu Yi planned to go find Ye Hao promptly.
He mentioned on the phone that the home at the barracks had been set up, and she was curious about what their home would look like.
"Sure, no problem. Where are you headed?"
Wang Yuan was quite curious about Gu Yi’s destination; she hadn’t heard her mention anyone here recently.
"To go see my husband."
"Oh, visiting your boyfriend?"
"Not boyfriend, my husband; I’m already married."
"Ah? You’re already married? Why so early?"
Wang Yuan couldn’t believe it; she was only twenty, still very young.
"City folks and country folks are different; we get married earlier in my hometown."
"Oh, okay."
Gu Yi had told Wang Yuan where she was from, so Wang Yuan didn’t press further.
Gu Yi went back, packed some things quickly, and took the bus.
She arrived at the barracks gate, reported her name to the guard, and said she was looking for Ye Hao.
The guard asked her to wait for a moment, and soon Ye Hao arrived.
"This is my wife; from now on, when she visits, just let her come in directly."
Ye Hao took the things from Gu Yi’s hands, said this to the guard, and took Gu Yi inside.
Ye Hao took Gu Yi straight back to their home within the barracks.
"We applied late; the buildings are all occupied, only this is left. Although it’s a bit old, I’ve cleaned it up, and it should be quite nice to live in."
Ye Hao was worried Gu Yi might not like it, so he started explaining as they walked.
Unexpectedly, Gu Yi liked the house as soon as she saw the courtyard.
"This house is really nice; we can even plant some vegetables in the courtyard, and you’ve already tilled the land."
"Yeah, I think it’s pretty nice too; the ground was tilled with the help of the brothers from the Second Company. Let’s go inside; I’ve tidied it up too, just waiting for the lady to inspect."
As Ye Hao spoke, he led Gu Yi indoors.
The house was small, but had everything it needed.
A two-bedroom, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom layout.
To the left of the entrance was the kitchen, and moving forward was a small room.
On the right was a larger room, and at the corner ahead, there was a small bathroom.
Inside, it was tidy and clean, clearly showing Ye Hao had put a lot of effort into it.
"Let’s check out the big room."
Ye Hao took Gu Yi’s hand and led her to the big room.
"I knew you’d come these days; the quilts were aired yesterday, and the sheets were washed and aired fresh."
Gu Yi noticed that the patterns on the bed were similar to those she bought near the school.
"Last time I saw you buy these similar patterns, so I picked similar ones too. Do you like them?"
Ye Hao explained as Gu Yi looked at the bedsheet on the bed.
"I really like them, thank you."
Gu Yi was truly touched; the house was arranged so warmly, with many things she liked upon closer inspection.
"I’m glad you like it; after setting it up, I kept thinking when the lady could move in."
Ye Hao pulled Gu Yi into his embrace.
"Yiyi, I miss you so much."
After holding her for a while, he released the hug around her waist.
Instead, he cupped her face.
"Yiyi, I love you."
After saying it, he kissed her.
The two cuddled for quite a while; if it weren’t work hours for Ye Hao, he definitely wouldn’t want to leave Gu Yi at all.
Finally, it was Gu Yi who urged him to hurry up and go.
