Reborn in the 1980s: Recapture My Devoted Husband-Chapter 916 - 764: The Scoundrel Is Caught (Part 4)
After Su Daimei resumed work, Mom no longer needed to go to the shop. They went to the distillery today, as they didn’t go yesterday.
The distillery started construction in September this year, but once winter arrived, the work had been left half-done.
It looks like it won’t be completed for at least half a year.
Having not paid attention to the situation here for a long time, she didn’t expect it to still be so busy at the factory.
Seeing how busy Li Jianye was, he couldn’t even say a few words to them. Even Brother Congnan had been busy at the factory during this period. It was the off-season for their soda beverage factory now.
Liang Hongmei, however, was quite happy.
In two months, it’s the New Year, and it is indeed a peak season. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
During lunch with them, Lin Wan mentioned that she needed to transport some goods to Z City.
Brother Nan said it’s not possible now, every time their trucks go out, they’re fully loaded and they simply can’t manage it.
Lin Wan wasn’t in a hurry and said, it can be transported whenever there are fewer goods.
After coming back from the distillery, they started planning their return home. In two days, they will go back to Z City.
Lin Wan spent the past two days staying by Grandma’s side. Ever since knowing Li Chang was arrested, Shen Rong felt much relieved, no longer needing to be on guard all day long.
Originally, Shen Rong didn’t allow her to come. But she couldn’t bear to leave Grandma behind, knowing that once she left, she’d probably only come back after giving birth.
However, before leaving, her mother-in-law mentioned that she would come to Z City in February to take care of her postpartum confinement.
Lin Wan didn’t want to trouble her mother-in-law; it was a long journey, and she felt comfortable with her mother-in-law coming alone.
Though her mother-in-law agreed verbally, she didn’t actually think that way. Lin Wan didn’t persuade further and thought it’s fine to let Han Yi handle it with his mother-in-law when the time comes.
When Dad and Mom came, Xiao Chen drove the military vehicle. Now Dad didn’t trust her driving alone. So he simply had Xiao Chen go with them. Dad drove her car and took them, mother and daughter, back to Z City.
Lin Wan arrived at the compound around three in the afternoon. Having not seen Little Star for half a month, the first thing she did upon returning was to buy groceries and prepare her daughter’s favorite foods.
Then, as it was close to school finishing time, she waited for Little Star to come home. Her cousin didn’t know she was back, so when Lin Wan arrived at the kindergarten, her cousin was already waiting there.
"Sis, I’m back. Tonight, you and brother-in-law come to our home for dinner. I made a table full of dishes."
"Your brother-in-law won’t have that fortune to enjoy it; by now, he’s probably already at the destination."
"Already left so quickly?"
"He mentioned something about next winter. He doesn’t tell me either." Lin Yuan said, somewhat dejected.
Lin Wan quickly responded, "It’s just a year, Sis, don’t be sad. This is a good thing."
"I know, sigh, it’s just that it’s hard to adapt to the sudden long separation. Alright then, you wait here for Xingxing, I’ll go get Yangyang, and we’ll head straight to your place."
When Lin Wan picked up Little Star, the mother and daughter hugged for a while before heading home.
"Mom, Xingxing missed you, missed Dad, and also missed little brother."
"Dad will be back in a few days, Mom will stay at home with you, and we’ll wait for Dad to return together."
"Yeah, Brother Yangyang’s dad has left, and Yangyang misses his dad a lot. Auntie said uncle will be back after the New Year."
"Yes, he will be back after the New Year."
Having been out for half a month, when they went upstairs, they met Gu Lin who was bringing her daughter back.
The two greeted each other, chatted for a bit, and only then did she learn that Lu Zixun also went this time.
"Wasn’t there only one spot available?"
"I don’t know either; it was a sudden decision for Zixun to go. He was notified just today to depart tomorrow."
They couldn’t control the decisions from above. Sometimes plans can’t keep up with changes.
They were unaware of these things, and couldn’t possibly know.
Seeing Gu Lin and her daughter, Lin Wan invited them over to her place as well.
She had cooked a large amount of food tonight, enough for all of them to eat.
"Sis, did Yangyang’s homeroom teacher resign?" Lin Wan asked during dinner.
"Yes, such a person is not fit to teach and nurture kids."
"Oh, right, Xiao Wan, let me tell you something, Liao Ye got married. Last week, he took leave and went back to the Capital City." Gu Lin suddenly said.
"Liao Ye and Sister-in-law Jiang’s niece?"
"Yes, didn’t expect them to get married so fast."
"Well-matched in family status, and besides, Liao Ye isn’t young anymore. The two of them get along well, it’s a suitable time for marriage." The cousin said with a smile, "Now among the people we know, only You Pei is left."
"Didn’t Liao Ye say that You Pei has someone he likes?" Lin Wan said.
"Yes, he does like someone, but that person is already married," Gu Lin said with a laugh.
"How do you know that?" The cousin was curiously gossiping.
"I heard Zixun mentioned it once. But I don’t know who it is."
"I see. The person is already married; surely, You Pei won’t still be obsessing over them?" Lin Wan’s first thought was this.
"It’s hard to say, but he doesn’t seem anxious about finding a partner either," Gu Lin agreed somewhat.
"That’s probably true. He must still have feelings in his heart."
The three women chatted over dinner, gossiping about domestic matters. It was a little joy in life.
In the evening, Little Star hugged her and kissed her repeatedly, sticking to her, asking her to tell a story.
"How about today, Little Star tells a story to mom and little brother? Has your teacher been telling any stories recently?" Lin Wan lay in bed, hugging her daughter, gently stroking her own protruding belly.
Little Star pursed her lips and smiled, "Yes, let me tell you a story about a little donkey painting walls."
Lin Wan burst into laughter, "How can a little donkey paint walls? It’s not easy for it to lift its four hooves."
"Isn’t the little donkey a painter?"
"Of course not."
Lin Wan and her daughter drifted into sleep with these childish questions.
The next day, after dropping off Little Star, Lin Wan went to her cousin’s place for a check-up and then directly headed to the shop.
With Lin Wan absent, Jia Tao managed the shop well. She didn’t need to worry; if anything was out of stock, Jia Tao would herself call the factory.
Lin Wan thought about the summer outfits that had not been sold yet. She had Jia Tao clear them out, putting everything on a fifty percent off sale.
This, in comparison with the winter clothes, made the summer clothes significantly cheaper. Lin Wan paired some nice designs with winter clothes for a promotional price.
Then she put up the promotional signs. Lin Wan and the staff were busy the whole day organizing, pairing, and putting these clothes on display.
This activity tired Lin Wan out, and by the time she got home, she didn’t have the energy to cook. Lin Wan directly went to the canteen for food. The two of them and Little Star managed with a simple meal.
After the meal, Lin Wan originally planned to lie down and rest for a bit before tidying up, but somehow, she fell asleep just like that.
What touched Lin Wan the most was that Little Star cautiously helped cover her with the blanket with a clumsy hand.
Then leaning over to her belly, she whispered, "Brother, be good. Mom is tired, don’t disturb her, okay? If you need anything, remember to call sister." Little Star said and gently patted Lin Wan’s belly as if high-fiving her brother.
