Reborn in a cultivation world with my Ex girlfriends-Chapter 47: Falling Into the Abyss
Chapter 47 - Falling Into the Abyss
The stone beneath Wang Li's feet crumbled.
He barely had time to register what was happening before he was free-falling into darkness, the roar of collapsing stone echoing all around him.
Lan Yue's startled gasp reached his ears, but he couldn't see her—couldn't see anything except the rapidly vanishing light from above.
"Are you serious right now?!" Wang Li yelled into the void.
His instincts kicked in, and he flared his Qi, trying to slow his descent. He reached out blindly, hoping to grab onto anything solid, but his fingers found only air.
Then, suddenly—impact.
Wang Li crashed onto something soft and—warm?
A sharp exhale sounded beneath him, followed by a familiar voice.

"Get. Off. Me."
His eyes widened. "Lan Yue?"
"You're crushing me, idiot!"
Scrambling to roll off her, Wang Li barely managed to stabilize himself before Lan Yue shoved him aside. Even in the dimly lit cavern, he could see the irritation on her face.
"Remind me to never go tomb raiding with you again," she muttered, dusting herself off.
"Hey, you're the one who grabbed the key," he shot back.
Lan Yue huffed but didn't argue. Instead, she turned her attention to their surroundings.
The chamber they had fallen into was vast and eerily silent. Jagged black crystals jutted from the walls, casting an unnatural glow across the cavern. Faint inscriptions pulsed with ancient energy, whispering secrets neither of them could decipher.
And then—a heartbeat.
Not their own.
Wang Li froze. "Tell me you heard that."
Lan Yue's grip tightened on her sword. "I did."
A low, guttural growl rumbled through the cavern.
Wang Li slowly turned his head—and immediately wished he hadn't.
From the shadows, two glowing amber eyes emerged, followed by a hulking, skeletal form. A massive beast, its bones laced with flickering ghostly fire, stepped into the dim light. Its breath came in ragged bursts, and its body crackled with spiritual energy.
"That's... a Netherbone Wraith Beast," Lan Yue whispered, her voice barely above a breath.
"A what?"
"A guardian of the dead," she said grimly. "It consumes the souls of intruders."
Wang Li stared at the monstrosity. "...Great. Love that for us."
The beast let out an ear-splitting roar.
And then it attacked.
The moment the beast lunged, Lan Yue reacted first. She dashed forward, her golden sword glowing brightly as she swung at the creature's ribs. The impact sent a shockwave through the cavern, but the blade barely left a mark.
"Not good," she muttered.
Wang Li wasn't idle. He channeled his Qi, summoning his Frost Lotus Palm once more. As the beast turned toward Lan Yue, he struck at its exposed spine, sending a wave of freezing energy into its bones.
The beast shrieked as frost spread across its skeletal frame.
For a moment, Wang Li thought they had gained the upper hand—until the ice shattered in an instant.
The beast's amber eyes flared, and with a flick of its claw, it sent both of them hurtling backward.
Wang Li crashed into a jagged crystal, pain exploding through his body.
Lan Yue landed with a sharp gasp, struggling to get back on her feet.
"This thing is way stronger than the serpent!" Wang Li groaned.
Lan Yue gritted her teeth. "We need to hit it where it's weakest."
"And that is?"
She pointed at the faintly glowing core embedded in its ribcage. "The wraith fire. If we can snuff it out, it'll collapse."
Wang Li's eyes narrowed. "Then let's make this count."
The beast lunged again, but this time, Wang Li was ready.
He darted left while Lan Yue leaped right, forcing the creature to choose between them. It hesitated, then turned toward Lan Yue—exactly what Wang Li had hoped for.
He channeled all of his Qi into his palm, summoning a new technique.
Frost Lotus Burst.
The ice-blue energy in his hands condensed into a swirling vortex of cold. He took a deep breath—then launched himself at the wraith beast.
At the same time, Lan Yue executed her strongest sword technique—Celestial Moon Severance.
Their attacks struck the beast's core simultaneously.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then—BOOM.
The wraith beast howled as its core shattered, ghostly fire erupting from its body. The cavern trembled as the energy released a shockwave, sending debris flying in all directions.
Wang Li barely managed to shield himself before the entire chamber was bathed in white light.
And then—silence.
When the dust settled, the beast was gone. Only a faint, glowing ember remained where its core had been.
Lan Yue stumbled forward, breathing heavily. "We... did it?"
Wang Li collapsed onto his back, staring at the ceiling. "I'm never raiding tombs again."
Lan Yue smirked. "You say that now."
Then, from the darkness ahead—footsteps.
Wang Li groaned. "You have got to be kidding me."
