Reborn Heiress: Seeking Revenge-Chapter 113 Nightmare Curse (2)_1
Chapter 113: Chapter 113 Nightmare Curse (2)_1
Who exactly is this girl before me?
Shangguan You’s gaze grew cold as she swiftly formed hand seals in the air. It was indeed the Nightmare Curse.
"Evil begets evil, don’t you know? Enjoy the taste of reaping what you sow," Shangguan You said with a cold laugh. The man standing opposite her, Uncle Yu, had already fallen into deep sleep.
The Nightmare Curse. Be it day or night, endless nightmares would forever accompany him. His deepest fears would be stirred up one by one. Unless she undid it, Uncle Yu would become another person—closed off, paranoid, and never able to escape his own nightmares.
Shangguan You glanced around the room indifferently. Her gaze fell on the pot of large white flowers by the window, and she stored it in her space, simultaneously extinguishing the sandalwood incense. She also collected the incense burner. If these items can knock out even Shangguan Qing, it means they’re non-poisonous individually, she mused. Only when combined do they cause unconsciousness. I’ll take them back to study; they might prove useful.
Looking at the unconscious Shangguan Qing, Shangguan You cradled his body in her arms. Since practicing the Medicine King Canon, her strength had surpassed that of an ordinary person, and she was full of Spiritual Energy. It wasn’t just Shangguan Qing she could carry—even two people wouldn’t be too much for her.
With a leap, she swiftly flew into the mid-air. Just as she departed, Shangguan Qing’s body trembled slightly in her arms. It seems he’s waking up. Shangguan You’s figure flashed, and she landed in a dark alley, setting Shangguan Qing down and pretending to have fainted beside him.
Sure enough, Shangguan Qing’s hand moved slightly, and then he scrambled up. He widened his eyes and looked around at the pitch-dark surroundings. When he discovered Shangguan You lying on the ground, a look of both surprise and confusion crossed his face.
"Youyou, Youyou, wake up! We need to get out of here quickly!" Shangguan Qing urged, gently shaking Shangguan You, whom he cradled. His eyes continually scanned the dark alley, devoid of any light.
"Big Brother Qing, where are we? Why is it so dark?" Shangguan You rubbed her eyes, asking Shangguan Qing with a puzzled look.
"We’re in an alley. Let’s go, let’s hurry home," Shangguan Qing said, helping Shangguan You up. He felt as if a weight had been lifted after his sleep, and a warm, comfortable sensation spread through his body.
"Big Brother Qing, what about that weird Uncle Yu? How could he have let us go?" Shangguan You pressed, her curiosity insatiable.
"I don’t know. Let’s get home first, and then we can figure it out. I have no idea what happened or how we ended up here," Shangguan Qing replied, thoughtfully recalling the moments before he fainted. He just remembered feeling extremely tired and then suddenly falling asleep.
"Okay," Shangguan You nodded, letting Shangguan Qing lead her as they quickly made their way through the alley. After rounding a narrow path, the area ahead suddenly brightened, and a cacophony of voices reached their ears.
"Who’s there? Who’s wandering around here in the middle of the night?" Just as they were about to hide, they were spotted and immediately surrounded. Alright, my luck is particularly bad tonight, Shangguan You thought grimly.
Of all the places she and Shangguan Qing could have gone, they ended up here. This was clearly the widest road, perhaps the only way out, but it seemed their timing was terrible.
Two groups of people were in a standoff, apparently trading something or negotiating a deal. It looked like the negotiations had soured and they were on the verge of fighting. Just as Shangguan Qing and Shangguan You burst in, making explanations impossible, they saw they were completely surrounded and knew they were in deep trouble.
"We’re just passing by. Please continue, please continue."
A gleam in his eyes, Shangguan Qing flashed his most charming smile at the crowd and, while holding Shangguan You, slowly stepped back.
"We’ll leave right away."
Shangguan Qing looked at the people who had them tightly encircled and spoke again. Alright, I have to admit, it seems no one is listening to me, he thought with a touch of resignation.
"Want to leave?" the punk in the lead, who had green-dyed hair, smirked maliciously.
"Do you think this is the kind of place you can just come and go as you please?" another punk with yellow-dyed hair snarled, throwing his cigarette to the ground.
Following their words, more punks swarmed in, surrounding them several layers deep, some wielding shiny machetes and others armed with wooden clubs.
Their respective leaders were still negotiating without a resolution. Amidst the unresolved tension, the two groups had started arguing. Now that two ’fools’ had blundered in, their collective ire naturally turned towards them.
"What do you want?" Shangguan Qing asked, stopping. He faced the roughly twenty punks. These youths looked no older than seventeen or eighteen and seemed to be a gang of delinquents negotiating some nighttime business, which he and Youyou had accidentally intruded upon.
Suddenly, Shangguan Qing felt a headache coming on. Brought to this place by that Uncle Yu, inexplicably passed out, then just as mysteriously escaped... and now, to top it all off, we’ve stumbled into an alley and been besieged by a bunch of punks. This is just wretched!
However, it could be worse. I believe it won’t be long before someone comes for us. If we can just wait for about half an hour, help should arrive.
Although tonight’s victory at Yu Zifeng’s place felt great, my bad luck has now reached an extreme. We would normally never wander into such a narrow and dirty alley, especially not at night. Now, with the darkness, leaving is even more difficult. Would these punks be willing to escort us out? But would they even agree? Shangguan Qing’s mind raced with possible solutions.
"Since you’ve trespassed onto our turf, naturally, you’ll have to abide by our rules," the punk with green-dyed hair said, eyeing Shangguan You intently. I didn’t expect to come across such a beauty in the middle of the night! he thought.
"That’s right. You follow your rules, I follow mine. Let’s each mind our own business," the punk with yellow-dyed hair chimed in, his gaze also fixed on Shangguan You.
"Oh? And what exactly are your rules?" Shangguan Qing asked, his hand instinctively tightening around Youyou’s. He saw how the two punks were eyeing her. How dare these punks look at my Youyou like that! They truly have a death wish!
