Reborn ghost seeing lady is pampered by her ex husband-Chapter 554: To marry or not to marry.
The excitement old lady Mayfair was experiencing was not shared by all. Jennie for example was more worried and anxious about the whole situation. Her worry was not for Shanna. Shanna was a grown woman in her eyes but Phoebe!! Phoebe was young and being a mother was going to force her to mature really quickly.
She hugged and rubbed her arms. "My poor Pheebs, she is just too young and naive to marry into the Saxon household. That house has their fair share of smiling vultures and snakes. With David becoming president, there are bound to be more than a few unhappy people that will not hesitate to look for ways of toppling him.
They will see Phoebe and the baby as the way to get to him. My daughter does not know the scheming ways of our society, she is naive, and they will eat her alive. I do not want her to stay away from us; Edward we just got her back." She held onto her husband's hands for dear life and started crying again.
"That is not going to happen mother, I am not leaving this house. There will not be any such thing as living in the Saxon tower for now, or the next few years." Phoebe's voice preceded her, slipping through the doorway before she did.
When she appeared, it was with a calm face. Jennie's eyes flooded even more without warning, like a dam cracking in real time. She rushed to embrace her daughter tightly like she might run away. "Oh honey, I cannot believe that you decided to deal with this on your own without telling me. This is the kind of thing which mothers and daughters handle together. How could you not tell me? I would never judge you; I will fight anyone that does. I will be the new Ashley Miller." The words spilled out through rugged raw sobs.
"You don't have to take it that far." Edward mumbled. With the law, his wife did not need to become the new wrestling champion of the lane.
Meanwhile, everyone in the room was looking at Phoebe's stomach which was no longer hidden. They could not believe that all this while they had not seen such a big belly.
Edward rubbed his eyes a few times to be sure that he was seeing what he was seeing.
"How has she been hiding that thing?" Andre whispered.
Maria brought in refreshments, which was calming tea. She almost answered Andre's question by saying that it was not that hidden and she had always known about the pregnancy. Even if it could not be seen, Phoebe's dresses could no longer zip up. The trousers could be tied around the waist. Any woman that had carried a child before would have noticed the changes.
After a few seconds of shedding tears Jennie's eyes dropped to the belly. "When did this appear, I haven't seen you in a day and you are already showing to this extent?" Her confused voice demanded for an answer.
"I was cloaking it in magic for a while. I am five months along." Phoebe answered, going ahead to greet the rest of her family members.
"You hid it well." Andre commented. "I need answers about how you did it in case I need to hide things from now on. Are congratulations in order?"
Phoebe nodded.

"Then congratulations baby sis." he said and embraced her.
Luke scoffed first and then he hugged her. "Luna is opening a children's luxury boutique and I am going to start taking shifts in the obstetrics and pediatrics department. Whatever you and Shanna will be needing, I will do."
"It is a not a competition." Collin laughed as he hugged Phoebe. "Congratulations."
Edward hugged her after and said they would talk later. Luna was the last to get a hug and then finally, the Mayfair's focused on the Saxon elders who had tugged along. They were not smiling anymore.
"Where is David? Do not tell me that he is already neglecting his responsibilities." Jennie's voice was not raised, but it did not need to because the steel in it was enough.
Grandpa Rufus shook his head lightly. "He is out there with Maureen and Rekha, pulling strings to undo the damage that you did I believe." He answered as he walked closer to them. "Are you not going to invite us in?" He asked, making his way to the living room even without the invitation. Having been to the Mayfair manor a lot of times, Rufus knew his way around the house.
The way he was moving, it seemed as if he was the owner of the manor and they were the guests. The rest followed him, once everyone had settled. Rufus spoke first and he began by apologizing for what had happened, then he requested that they maintain their friendly relationship especially for the sake of the two children.
"I believe that they will marry soon." He raised his hand before Phoebe could say a word. "That way the child is not labeled a bastard. Now I know the young ones have their own foolish ideas, but we must think about baby Star. Surely, you are not on board with her being called a Saxon bastard" Rufus looked at grandma Mayfair, the decision maker of the Saxon family.
Grandma Saxon who had already briefed her husband on Phoebe's views on marriage shook her head in uttered disbelief. "I cannot believe that you are stubbornly hellbent on bringing this up right now." She looked at Phoebe and shrugged, "I am sorry dear, I intended to let you handle your affairs on your own but with a child things have changed.
This idea of not marrying does not make sense anymore. I cannot believe that instead of David convincing you he' is dancing along to your tunes. Please think about the child." Her protest was more of a drowsy whimper than a real objection.
The Saxon elders stared at grandma Mayfair, waiting to hear her opinion on the subject.
"We will go with whatever our Phoebe decides to do to, although I think marriage is the right and most logical step, but I cannot force her to do this against her will." Grandma Mayfair concerned about the rumors hurting her granddaughter's reputation.
[If you only knew what happened in my previous marriage to David, you all would be against it.]
The Saxon elder's frowned while the Mayfair's traded gazes.
"I take back what I said, I will be contented even if the children never marry for the rest of their lives. What matters is that they are happy. If anyone calls Star a bastard, I will shoot them." Grandma Mayfair flipped like a coin after seeing the thought.
Phoebe was thinking about the words of the Saxon elders too. They were not coming from a bad place, they were worried, and they were right to be. Rekha had grown up stigmatized because she was called the Montgomery outcast. Star being called the Saxon bastard did not sit right with her.
David strolled in and sat next to Phoebe. "Mr., and Mrs. Mayfair..."
"Oh, so now we are not mother and father to you anymore after you did this to my daughter!" Jennie teased him, her voice dancing with mischief.
David wiped sweat from his forehead. She was not trying to bash his head in with a baseball bat or throw him out. The hard part was over, it seemed. Thank God Collin and Shanna's wedding venue had taken the brunt of her anger.
