"Sit down first." David helped her sit and then he knelt down, removing the grey and white furry bedroom slippers that she had been walking around in.

There was no wound and no blood but some bruising and pain when David touched the big toe.

"Are you alright?" Rufus hovered close, worried. He was asking about the toe but looking at Phoebe's stomach.

"She knocked her toe uncle Rufus, your descendant is is fine and dandy, baking in my niece's body and kicking her. I saw that wince before she knocked her foot. I swear when that kid comes out, I will spank it for each kick it has given her." Maureen complained

"No, you won't." Rufus argued.

David handed Phoebe a glass of water in the meantime and called a maid to bring a first aid box. Phoebe was sipping the water slowly and watching Rufus and Maureen argue on parenting styles when the door to the study suddenly burst open with a force that made everyone draw their weapons.

Rufus was the exception. He did not know that rest were drawing their weapons because they suspected that Ruth had been and probably still was, on the grounds of the tower.

"Guns, knives and fans down." Rufus loudly and sternly order.

Grandma Saxon did not blink at the sight of the weapons; she stood there with one arm on the doorknob while the other held her phone.

"Phoebe Mayfair are you pregnant?" She posed the question out of the blue.

The room went still for half a breath, then erupted in a flurry of motions with everyone denying having any knowledge about what grandma Saxon was talking about.

Rufus smoothed his sleeves and stared at his wife with a blank expression. "Dear wife what do you mean? How could she pregnant? It is impossible, she cannot even lay eggs and I-I mean..." He stammered before his words dissolved into silence because he had started speaking nonsense.

He also knew that lying was not an option, so it was better that he shut his mouth before talking his way into an early grave.

Casting her husband a sharp look, grandma Saxon scoffed. "Do not try to patronize me! And what is this nonsense about her laying eggs, is she a snake or a hen? I am going to sound only one warning, the next person to speak had better tell me the truth or I will shoot you with your own guns and if that won't work, I will gut you with that knife Maureen pointed at me. I have killed fish; I am not afraid to scale up." She spoke in a raised voice.

Phoebe shoved Maureen forward. "You talk."

Maureen shoved Rekha, Rekha shoved David, and he hid behind Rufus. They did not respond but let out 'hmms' and 'Well you sees' but words failed them.

"I asked a question, I need answers. Phoebe is it true that are you pregnant?" Grandma Saxon's eyes remained pinned on her granddaughter in law.

Star shifted to a more comfortable position and in the process kicked Phoebe. "Uh oh, i smell trouble. I am going to sleep; you don't need my help." She yawned and went silent.

Phoebe winced. She wondered if her daughter had dragon feet. Why were her kicks so powerful? Was it a grand guardian thing? Was she training in there?

In all swift motion, David gently yanked Phoebe behind him, his body acting like a barricade. Seeing her wince brought out his protective instincts.

"Grandma, let's be calm and rational. How did you even find out about this? Just so you know we were just about to tell you, in fact we were on our way to you right now to share the good news." He lied with a straight face. "Do not scold grandpa because he just found out now."

Rufus nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes, yes, I just found out too." He gasped and looked at Phoebe. "I cannot believe that you are pregnant. What were you two thinking? How could you be so irresponsible?"

David suddenly felt betrayed. Phoebe was stunned, Maureen's mouth fell open and Rekha stifled a laugh.

Letting out a derisive snort, grandma Saxon who did not believe her husband and his poor acting rolled her eyes hard. At the end of the day, she had got her answer. "So, these celebrity gossip blogs are not spreading rumors, and you are really pregnant! My goodness! I am thrilled, over the moon." She twirled around with glee.

The confirmation melted away her anger for finding out such important news through the blogs.

Phoebe leaped up, pushing David forward in the process. "The blogs know. How? Which one of you opened their mouth?" Her stare could have burned holes in their faces.

Shoulders twitched in unison, rippling with denial.

"Wait!" Maureen roared. "That maid that was here earlier, what if the talisman failed and she told someone who then told another. Word travels fast around here for instance it is already out there that Bradley Taylor bought himself a mansion in Ripley Villas near the founding lane." Came her voice that shredded the air like a gunshot.

Nodding, David agreed with her. "It has to be her." He spoke. "I am going to sack her for having a big mouth, both she and whoever told the blogs." He growled his promise, teeth clenched.

"That is my department child, I will have to make an example of all those involved." Grandma Saxon assured David.

Maureen chuckled. "So much for signing those non-disclosure agreements." She uttered, then she pulled her brows together. "This must be why mother has been calling me nonstop. She even texted 911 so this is not about the wedding. We have to go home Pheebs." She shot to her feet as icy tendrils of panic coiled around her chest.

Rekha followed suit. "The Mayfair manor must be on fire as we speak." She stated.

"Your parents did not know?" Grandma Saxon asked Phoebe who in response only shook her head looking mortified.

Grandma Saxon's chest vibrated with a sound more wolf than woman. "Oh...you are in so much trouble." Knowing how dramatic Jenny Mayfair was, she knew that Phoebe was going to get a scolding from her for not telling her sooner.

"Perhaps we should go along with the kids and soothe the Mayfair's anger, after all our grandson knocked up their daughter before marriage." Rufus's head moved with disapproval. "Children of these days, you have no patience at all now see what you have done. While this was an accident, I am still glad that Star is coming. Let's go before I lose my nerve." He began to move towards the door.

Confusion pooled in Grandma Saxon's eyes. "Star? Who is that?" She asked as she followed her husband.
