Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 200: Her Mom
After the medicine wore off, Amelia opened her eyes slowly.
The first thing she noticed around herself was how she was alone in the room. Neither Cyrus nor Kyle was there with her, and though she was the one who had asked them to go to the palace for the funeral because she knew things would turn worse if they didn’t go and explain, she felt strangely alone.
Her gaze moved to the door, where she could see someone standing behind the translucent sheet, and she knew the person was probably a security guard, making her sigh.
Why are you feeling alone even now when I am here? Amelia heard a voice in her head, almost surprising her.
This was new to her. She wasn’t used to anyone’s presence, especially not a powerful wolf inside her.
I didn’t get the time to thank you earlier. Thank you for saving my life. Amelia said, unsure what else to say or how people greet their wolves when they meet for the first time.
No one taught her any of this, nor did she hear anyone talking about it.
The wolf inside her chuckled.
You do realize that you are thanking me for saving myself, right? I was there most of the time. I mean, I was drifting into space with my mother, the Moon Goddess, but I had been there since you mated with the two mates. Your call really woke me up, something I couldn’t figure out how to do. So I should be thanking you.
The wolf replied, and Amelia hummed.
Can you come out? I want to have a better look at how majestic you are. I couldn’t see it properly. Amelia said, like a shy kid wanting an autograph from their favorite idol, and the wolf chuckled again.
Amelia felt a surge of energy inside her before she saw a white smoke before her that turned into a large white wolf that could barely be contained in the room because of its height.
Amelia looked at the wolf, awestruck.
Her wolf was beyond beautiful, far surpassing her wildest imagination when she heard she might have a rare white wolf.
"You are—" Amelia started to speak, but stopped when the wolf looked to their side. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Someone is coming. The wolf said before disappearing back into her.
Amelia sighed and looked towards the window where her wolf had pointed.
It wasn’t long before she felt a swoosh of wind passing by her neck, and a group of people stood before her.
She recognized a couple of people from the group.
One of the most prominent being Arnold.
"Am," the man walked to her and extended his hands, pausing by her side, unsure if she would let him hug her.
Amelia looked at the man’s hopeful eyes before smiling encouragingly.
After going through that harrowing ordeal with Dominic, Amelia realized life was too short and unpredictable to carry regrets. It was better to forgive and forget than to take the burden and kill your own happiness.
Arnold’s eyes brightened at her nod of approval, and he immediately hugged her.
"I didn’t know so many things had happened. I would’ve found out about the change in your fate with the mage rock that I observe occasionally, but someone tampered with it. It’s not an excuse for my absence, but I just want you to know that I have been looking for remedies for you, and it indeed worked," Arnold said.
Amelia’s brows furrowed.
Remedies? What kind of remedies was he talking about? She didn’t remember him or anyone giving her that sort of thing.
"The dragon blood pendant on your neck is mixed with a Death Angel’s teardrop and the ash of an angel-born fairy. It establishes a direct connection between you and heaven. Your pleas were heard by none other than the moon goddess herself. You didn’t have a wolf until your rebirth," a lady explained to her.
Amelia’s hand reached for the locket that Kyle had given her. She knew it had dragon’s blood in it, but didn’t know about other such things.
Kyle had indeed mentioned that someone asked him to give it to her.
So her father had indeed been caring for her in hiding.
"You can take it down if you want in the future. It’s useless now that your one wish has been fulfilled. I will look for another such substance." The lady said.
Amelia smiled at the lady gratefully, thinking she was a part of the cult and just wanted to help her.
"Thank you, Ma’am," she whispered before looking back at her father.
Scarlett’s smile wavered a little when her daughter addressed her. Even if she called her Mam, it was something.
Tears brimmed in her eyes, and she controlled her trembling fingers by clenching her fists.
Arnold hugged Amelia softly, patting her shoulders, and for once, Scarlett felt envious of him.
She wanted to hug her daughter, too, but wasn’t sure if she’d be accepted after she had never shown up when needed most.
As if Arnold understood the turmoil of her heart, he cleared his throat.
"She is not a random cult member, Amelia. She is your mother," Arnold said.
Amelia, whose gaze had shifted back to the beautiful pendant, froze when she heard the word ’mother.’
She looked up at the lady once again, her tearful eyes making her swallow hard.
Scarlett looked at Amelia, hoping to hear her say something. Though she wanted her to know the truth, the thought of the adverse reaction from her daughter scared her.
"Scarlett," Amelia said, and the lady nodded.
Arnold had told her that her mother was alive too, and she wasn’t allowed to come and meet her.
At that time, she had ignored the topic, but now that the woman was standing before her, she didn’t know how to react.
The child inside her, who had been deprived of love from childhood, yearned to rush to the lady and hug her tight, pouring out her complaints to her about everything. But the adult side of her felt unfamiliar with everyone surrounding her.
"Okay," Amelia said in the end.
Scarlett’s lips stretched in a sad smile.
Maybe she expected too much. She didn’t blame Amelia. The fact that she wasn’t screaming and throwing them out was more than enough.
"If she is my mother, why hasn’t she rushed to me yet and hugged me like a mother would?" Amelia suddenly asked while playing with her nails.
Scarlett, who was drowning in her pity, looked at Arnold to confirm if she had heard it right. When Arnold nodded at his wife with a happy smile, Scarlett couldn’t contain her joy anymore.
She rushed to the bedside and hugged Amelia tightly, almost scooting her to the side.
Amelia’s heart skipped a beat at the feeling.
Even though she had not yet met her, she could feel the familiar bond clicking through the energy circulating between them, and her hands wrapped around the lady automatically.
"Thank you, baby. Thank you so much for not hating me. You have no idea how hard it was for me to stay away from you just so my powers won’t harm you," Scarlett said.
Amelia hummed at the lady, not wanting to say anything, and just enjoyed the moment for some time.
As Scarlett held Amelia, her finger brushed against the mark on Amelia’s hand, and she narrowed her brows.
She pulled back and looked at her daughter’s hand.
"What is this? Who gave it to you?" She asked, her eyes turning from happy to angry in a second.
Amelia looked at the mark and then looked at her mother with confusion.
"I remember getting this mark from someone who was chanting in a cult in my dream. That lady was old and looked ancient," Amelia explained before looking at her father for answers.
Arnold pressed his lips into a thin line.
He had noticed the mark on his daughter’s body long before, but he didn’t want to alert Scarlett and risk her going to meet Amelia.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that he hid many truths about Amelia from Scarlett to keep her ’mother’s love’ side at bay.
"An old woman? You knew it?" Scarlett looked at Arnold, who cleared his throat, feeling peculiar under everyone’s watchful gaze.
"Everyone leave," Scarlett said to their group, who had come to greet and thank the person who helped awaken their powers.
Scarlett looked at the mark and closed her eyes for a brief second, chanting erasing spells. Once the mark was gone, she pulled her daughter close, placing her head on her chest.
"What’s wrong, Mom?" Amelia said.
The word ’mom’ rolled out naturally from her mouth, and Scarlett’s anger eased a little.
"This mark destabilizes your energy. You experience fluctuations in energy from low to high, and some witches who couldn’t control it had a history of going mad. Whoever gave it to you wanted to keep you under their observation and hurt you. While this mark catalyzes the awakening of your energy, it’s more like a curse," Scarlett explained to her daughter, rocking her back and forth as if cradling a little child.
Amelia remembered all the times she had suffered because of this mark and how painful it had been and couldn’t help but purse her lips.
"Everything aside, I wanted to warn you about a demonic energy that has been lurking around—" Arnold started, but Amelia’s words cut him off mid-sentence.
"I have met the energy, Father. She intends to destroy me. I didn’t clearly tell you about seeing her earlier, but she has been trying to infiltrate my life for some time." Amelia said before she remembered something.
"When Dominic attacked me today, he used some kind of ancestral dagger. It gave me weird vibes. What kind of weapon can harm my wolf, Mom? I don’t know anything about her." Amelia said.
Scarlett used her powers to look into her memories to see what kind of dagger she was talking about.
When she looked into her daughter’s memories, she saw everything that happened in the forest, and her eyes brimmed with tears when she saw her pleading and begging for life from the moon goddess.
Scarlett sniffed hard before taking a deep, shaky breath to calm herself.
"That dagger... It’s the same dagger we used to kill a witch named Adele, who had gone mad despite her young age. The first time it was used was on an ancestral witch. The second time it was used on Adele, a reincarnation of that witch," Scarlett explained.
As she said those words, her pupils dilated.
"That dagger... It can be used to kill any witch. Maybe we can use it for our benefit. I’ll just have to look into this and act before our enemies act. Whoever they are, they are someone close who is just waiting for the right opportunity to stab us in the back," Scarlett said.
After exchanging a few more words, Scarlett and Arnold left Amelia, who assured them that she had Kyle and Cyrus to take care of her, and they needn’t worry about her.
The two mage leaders left dejectedly, knowing they needed to find a solution for that energy before it destroyed everything for them once again.
They had to stop history from repeating itself, and it wasn’t going to be easy.
