Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 162: Meeting the mages
"One more time," Cyrus barked the orders at the soldiers who lined up behind the Grand Palace in the training grounds to train.
"I am ready," Amelia said from a distance, and the man’s attention snapped to her. His narrowed brows immediately eased, and his gaze softened when he looked at his wife.
Cyrus looked at Trevor and asked him to continue the training for another hour.
He also instructed them to tighten security in the market area near the Grand Palace, just to ensure nothing troubling would occur there.
"Did you ask him? Does he want to join?" Cyrus asked Amelia, and the girl shook her head.
She told him that the man wanted to relax and said he was tired after this long trip. Besides, he already knew a few things and didn’t want to meet another mage in such a short span.
The mages have a strong network, and they might not like that he met another mage, thinking he didn’t trust the words of the first one.
After bidding goodbye to Grayson, they sat in the car to go to the mage, who fortunately was staying in the Hazelnut forests just an hour away from the Grand Palace.
After the silent ride, both of them busy with their thoughts, they finally reached the Hazelnut forests.
Cyrus instructed Fabian to stay outside the forest on standby, just in case they needed his help.
A team of soldiers was ready for action at some distance from the mage.
Cyrus knew the mage might see this as a threat, but as a king, it was even more crucial for him to ensure the safety of his wife.
"Let’s go." Cyrus extended his hand towards Amelia, and she took it readily.
They started walking inside the forest, and as soon as Amelia crossed the small stream of water, her mark burned a vibrant sky blue color, and she couldn’t help but thin her lips.
"We are nearing the mages, aren’t we?" Amelia asked.
Cyrus looked at the coordinates before looking at her.
"How do you know?" He asked.
She can sense it. She mentioned the different sensations she feels through her mark that she got in some weird dream, didn’t she? Sylas reminded him, and he didn’t ask anything further.
"We were wondering when you’ll have the guts to seek one of us." A dark voice echoed around, and Cyrus immediately pulled Amelia closer, shielding her with his body.
"We mean no harm, Valentino. You wouldn’t be standing here with her if we wanted." The threat lay heavy in the air.
Though the mages assured them, Cyrus didn’t let down his guard and looked around, trusting his wolf to sense any danger and protect their wife.
After a few minutes, a shadow-like thing appeared from behind the trees.
"Follow me to the hut," It whispered, more like hissed.
Cyrus nodded at Amelia, indicating that he understood her, and she didn’t need to be scared of anyone as long as he was on guard.
Amelia smiled at him gratefully, her fingers tightening around his overcoat that she was holding like a kid.
They followed the shadow and stopped at a mediocre hut that was clearly built with magic.
The shadow disappeared once its work was done, and Cyrus pushed the door open, ensuring he held onto his wife tightly.
No matter how strong the mages were, they wouldn’t dare to try to put their hands on the King of the werewolves.
"Welcome," said one of the mages, sitting on the large couch-like thing.
To say Amelia was surprised would be an understatement.
From the outside, it looked like something that would only have a little space to maneuver, but from the inside, it was more like the hall of a large hotel.
But what surprised her more was the young-looking woman sitting behind the table. Her twinkling eyes were akin to stars.
A small smile tugged on her lips, genuine or fake, hard to guess.
"We are here to get some answers about my wife. We need assistance with a magical phenomenon that is unique to werewolves," Cyrus said.
Amelia, who was slightly hidden behind Cyrus’s overcoat, stepped forward slowly.
She looked at the three mages, one male and two females, with a slight nod.
One of them beckoned her to come closer, and Amelia looked at Cyrus.
Cyrus’s heart skipped a beat.
They had had many interactions before, many of them intimate. Still, for some reason, the way Amelia looked at him in that moment, trusting him with her life as if she knew nothing would happen to her as long as he was around, felt more intimate than anything they ever had together.
He nodded, his gaze hardening as his king’s protective aura was backed up by the husband’s love for his wife.
The mages noticed the aura around Cyrus increasing tremendously, and the one in the centre cleared his throat.
"We made it clear, Valentino. We meant no harm. You don’t need to call your wolf into the picture," The mage said.
Amelia sighed.
"It’s okay," she said, smiling at Cyrus, and the man nodded, suppressing his aura a little.
"Come here," the mage said, and Amelia came closer and then extended his hand.
"Place your hand with the mark," he said.
Amelia followed suit, and as soon as her hand touched the man’s, her mark suddenly burned with a white glow; weird shivers traveled from head to toe in her body.
It was as if something was giving her mild shocks, and she looked at the man in surprise.
"You see this mark; it holds a history. Now ask your question," he said.
Amelia gulped.
"I get visions. About a girl being tied to a pole and getting attacked by the king of werewolves and vampires, unrequited love. About some magicians chanting and performing rituals. Recently, an ancient-looking woman came to meet me and explained a few things, but they didn’t explain what I feel. What am I supposed to do or how to deal with this matter?" She said.
The mages looked at each other with slightly surprised expressions.
"When you say an ancient lady, was it her?" The female mage asked before she swirled her hand in the air.
Soon, a projection of a woman was displayed on one of the hall’s walls.
Amelia followed the projection and nodded.
"She was the one," she answered.
The mage in the center stood from his place.
He walked around the table and looked at the girl before grabbing her hand and closing his eyes.
To say he was surprised would be an understatement. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he saw her past.
"You are the one," He said.
Cyrus furrowed his brows.
"What do you mean she is the one? Why does it feel like all this? Is there no solution to all this?" He asked.
The male shook his head.
"Solutions are for problems. This is not a problem. This is her destiny. And we small mages have no right to discuss it. She is... she is meant for a bigger destiny. A havoc is looming in the sky. You can’t see it, but I can. This is beyond nature. This is history, a boon from the moon goddess, a curse from the ancestors," the mage said.
Amelia looked at Cyrus, slightly worried.
It was hard for her to understand anything.
The more she learned, the more scared she felt.
"But... it hurts. It hurts so much. There has to be a way to make it stop," Amelia’s voice cracked, the burden of this mark and what that white light had asked her to do about unlocking the mage’s powers pressing harder on her.
She took a deep, shaky breath and pulled out the note that she had received at the University when she was studying.
"Someone already knows about this secret. Please help me before I commit a sin that hurts everyone around me," she said.
Cyrus looked at the note that was asking Amelia if she could see the white light and those women.
He felt his heart clench in his chest. Just how much was his wife bearing all alone so that she wouldn’t end up worrying him?
If he hadn’t asked her about the truth, if his grandfather hadn’t gone to that mage and suspected something was wrong with her, would she have continued like this? 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The thought of her in pain made him mad, and he looked at the mages urgently.
"You said you small mages aren’t allowed even to discuss it, let alone provide a solution. Is there a mage stronger than you here on Earth? Someone who can help us? I don’t care if I will have to travel the nations to find them. Just give me a place and the accuracy of their availability," Cyrus said.
The mages looked at each other with a slightly hesitant expression.
"Well, there is indeed someone who can help you. But he is –" The head mage of the group couldn’t even complete his sentence when they suddenly felt a cold breeze brushing past them.
Amelia suddenly stepped back from the mage when she saw her mark burning golden, the color of her eyes turning slightly.
The mages looked at her in surprise.
Cyrus looked at his wife and was about to reach out for her when the mages warned him.
"Don’t. You will make it worse for her," they warned him.
Amelia turned to Cyrus before a strange smile appeared on his face.
"He is here," she whispered.
"Who is here, princess?" Cyrus asked, confused.
"He is," She pointed at the entrance, and everyone turned to look at who it was.
