Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 137: A Face -off
After a ride of twenty-five minutes, Amelia finally reached the grand venue for the so-called face-off between King Cyrus and Patrick.
She wore a peach-colored dress with black latex gloves that reached her elbows, exuding elegance and royalty.
She smiled at the driver before turning and walking to the entrance.
The guards stopped her.
"Invitation," They said simultaneously.
Amelia raised her brows.
Right. How could she forget? She was yet to be announced as a member of the royal family and Cyrus’s wife.
She was just a random person, a healer, who came to watch the face-off.
She knew it. It was just unfortunate that she forgot to ask for an invitation letter from King Cyrus.
Amelia thinned her lips. Should she bother King Cyrus with such trivial matters? He must be forming strategies to win the face-off.
She licked her bottom lip and thought of calling Trevor instead.
However, before she could pull her phone out, someone held her elbow gently.
"She is with me."
Amelia turned to look at the person and noticed Lilithia beaming at her.
"But Miss Lilithia, we are not allowed to let anyone enter without a pass. Even if it’s your acquaintance, they need a pass to enter that is signed by the royal security," The security guard said.
The security was indeed very tight.
Seeing Lilithia’s face turn a little sour, Amelia shook her head and assured her Cyrus was coming to take her, so she didn’t need to get angry over such a trivial matter.
"Please give me a moment," Amelia said to the security guard and stepped aside.
If it had been any other time, she would’ve instead returned home, but she promised Cyrus she would sit in a place he could see her easily.
And she wasn’t someone to break a promise easily.
"Here is her pass," She heard a familiar manly voice, and turned around, her cheeks flushing when she saw Cyrus standing there with a cold look.
The security guard gulped and immediately took the pass with both hands.
"We are sorry, sir. We didn’t know she was your guest." The security guard looked like he would fall on his knees anytime soon, but the man didn’t give him any attention.
Cyrus turned to Amelia, and his gaze softened.
"I told Miss Quinn to give you the pass, but I heard someone was so eager to come that she didn’t even bother to meet Miss Quinn one last time and forgot her pass at home," Cyrus leaned forward and whispered in her ear.
She remembered receiving Miss Quinn’s call a few moments ago, but she was so eager to reach the arena in time that she was afraid he might become a little edgy, and because she wanted to see him in his glory, she didn’t answer.
Amelia pouted a little, and Cyrus’s fingers twitched.
He had a sudden urge to even her pout with his fingers, pull her close, and kiss those red lips, but he knew better not to put her in any kind of danger, not until it was announced she was his wife.
He sighed and held her hand.
"Let’s go, Miss Healer. Didn’t I tell you that you need to stay close to me in case of any emergencies? Is this how you guys are taught? Where is Professionalism?" Cyrus said, loud enough for everyone to hear.
Amelia’s ears turned red.
Though she knew Cyrus was saying those words for everyone, she suddenly felt like a child being reprimanded by her father, and the thought alone made her want to cry, as she felt a little wronged.
Cyrus took her to the fifth lane rather than the first lane because that was enough height for him to be able to see her clearly.
"Sit here. I will ask someone to attend to you. If you want to eat anything, just let him know. He will bring anything you want. Additionally, if the area feels too crowded and you prefer not to sit, you can stand in the spacious area once everyone is seated. No one will say anything to you," Cyrus explained.
Amelia looked into his blue eyes, which seemed so enchanting at the moment as he cared for her like a real husband, something she had always wished to experience.
"You are spoiling me too much, King Cyrus," Amelia whispered.
Cyrus paused as if realizing what she said was true.
"You are mine to spoil," He said before he leaned closer.
It was almost as if he was going to kiss her. But he stopped, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ears. He held her hand, brushed her knuckles with his thumb, before taking a deep breath.
He wasn’t nervous. Honestly, he wasn’t even worried about this face-off. For some time, he was more concerned about leaving Amelia here all alone.
He didn’t know what this feeling was budding in his heart.
Was his love becoming deeper, all because of this mark on his neck? If this continues, will he have to keep Amelia plastered close to himself all the time?
He shook the thoughts and was about to leave when Amelia held his hand. He turned to look at her, his gaze once again becoming cold, for the world.
"I know you’ll win. The crown and...me," Amelia just whispered the last word, but Cyrus heard it pretty clearly, and his heart thumped in his chest.
His gaze wavered for a second before he nodded with a neutral expression and left.
As soon as Cyrus went out of sight, Amelia smiled to herself, covering her face with her hands to cool off her heating cheeks from all the shyness.
"You both definitely enjoy being together. What happened to change it to this?" Someone said from behind her, and Amelia nearly jerked in her place.
The voice was all too familiar. Her heart skipped a beat, but for a different reason this time.
She turned and looked into those amber cat-like eyes that looked at her as if she was sinning by being happy with Cyrus.
"Kyle," Amelia whispered.
Even with his mask on, she could identify him just by his voice and the way he looked at her.
The man smirked, his eyes sharp, accusing.
"Hello, sweetheart," he said, licking his bottom lip.
Amelia looked around, afraid someone would hear him, and the little action made Kyle even angrier than before.
She didn’t react like that when Cyrus was holding her hands and being close to her, but she was afraid just because he called her sweetheart.
Why this discrimination against him? Was it because he wasn’t a king like him? Didn’t have a kingdom like him? Was it because he wasn’t her husband like him?
Or was it because of the mark that man bore that he was yet to have?
Kyle evened his expression, and rather than looking offended, he smiled at Amelia.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
Kyle raised his brows.
"That’s strange. You don’t know? Your husband invited me here to talk to me about something right before the face-off," Kyle tilted his head and looked straight into her eyes with a teasing glint.
"You have deeply hurt me today, Amelia. I am your mate, yet you treat me like I am some kind of scum. You have seen what kind of vengeful person I am. What if I slip some important information about you or us to Cyrus? Will this distract him?" Kyle asked with wide eyes, faking his innocence.
Amelia’s pupils dilated.
No. This will ruin everything.
"You can’t do this," Amelia said.
Kyle grinned.
"Can I really not?" He asked, leaning closer to her, his lips almost reaching hers before he stopped with a smile.
"Test me, princess," He said before kissing her cheeks affectionately and leaving.
Amelia’s heart thumped inside her chest at the possibility of what they were going to talk about.
What she didn’t know was that Cyrus, standing three lanes down, was talking to the person he had appointed to take care of her, and he saw everything from afar.
His fists clenched, and he turned around before leaving, Sylas becoming edgy inside him for some unknown reason.
But then again, maybe it was jealousy.
