Reborn as the General's Useless Daughter-Chapter 29: Zora is a spirit warrior
Zora’s face was cold and proud, her gaze filled with naked contempt. "If you dare to do such filthy things, then you should already be prepared to be beaten."
Her voice grew colder with every word. "Philip, you are lucky that you are a crown prince. Had you not had the backing of his majesty, for the act you dared to do earlier, I would have cut off your limbs and fed them to the crows."
With that, she no longer spared him another glance. She turned around decisively and walked straight back toward the banquet hall, her back straight and resolute. What Philip had done just now made her feel nothing but disgust.
"That Philip is truly shameless!" Black muttered angrily inside her mind. "Even such things can be done by him—he’s simply perverted!"
"He must regret himself to death now. Hahaha!" White laughed smugly. Seeing Philip humiliated like this was truly satisfying.
Not long after Zora returned to her seat, Prince Kael was pushed back as well.
"Darling," he said with a lazy chuckle, his eyes sparkling with amusement, "that slap of yours just now wasn’t light at all."
Zora’s expression stiffened slightly. "You saw it?"
"I went looking for you but couldn’t find you," Prince Kael shrugged. "So I had Alder push me around... and then I just happened to witness a scene that I probably shouldn’t have seen."
Zora frowned. "Since I’m already your fiancée, isn’t it improper for you to ’happen’ upon such a scene?"
Prince Kael raised his brows lightly. "I knew you wouldn’t allow Philip to get away with it. Moreover, the scene didn’t happen anyway..."
With Zora’s temperament, he had long known she would never tolerate such humiliation. He had simply wanted to see how she would deal with it.
"Sure enough," he said with a relaxed grin, "I didn’t even need to act. You took care of everything yourself."
Zora glanced at his smiling face, but her heart suddenly jumped. Her earlier line toward Philip—you can’t even compare to him—had definitely not been spoken softly.
Had this fellow heard it?
Prince Kael did not dwell on the matter. He joked a few more words and quickly dispelled the slight awkwardness in Zora’s heart.
By the time the Imperial Banquet finally ended, Zora did not leave together with General Helius and the others. Instead, Prince Kael personally had someone send her back.
"Darling," he teased with a blink of his eyes, "why don’t you come live at the prince’s residence starting tonight?"
Zora shot him a cold glance. "No interest."
With that, she no longer paid him any attention and headed straight back toward the General’s Residence.
This time, she was not coming back to continue living here.
She was coming back for one thing only—her mother’s belongings.
If she left them behind, she could not be at ease. Who knew if those people would destroy them out of spite?
Prince Kael watched her figure disappear into the darkness. The smile on his face slowly faded, replaced by a rare trace of seriousness.
This woman... was truly different.
When General Helius and the others returned to the General’s Residence, the first thing they did was ask whether Zora had come back. After receiving confirmation, they immediately rushed inside.
No matter what, they were determined to demand an explanation from her tonight.
With the help of two furry balls, Zora quickly packed up all of her mother’s belongings.
Her mother had passed away many years ago. The things she left behind were pitifully few—mostly old pieces of jewelry that had long lost their luster with time.
Yet as Zora carefully sorted through them, she suddenly discovered a thin, hidden booklet tucked beneath the jewelry.
Her heart trembled faintly.
She opened it at random and read two lines.
In an instant, a strange, heavy emotion surged quietly through her chest.
She instinctively understood—
Among all of her mother’s belongings, this small booklet would be the most meaningful of them all. It is the dairy of her mother.
After a while, Zora stored the last of Qin Yaqin’s belongings into the Storage pouch. Without another glance at the quiet room, she turned and walked straight out of the General’s residence.
Before she even reached the front hall, an angry roar thundered through the corridors.
"Zora! You unfilial daughter—get over here at once!"
Her lips curved slowly into a faint, mocking smile. Unfilial daughter? Did this old man really think she was still the same obedient, bullied girl from before?
She stepped into the front hall at an unhurried pace.
General Helius stood at the center, his face dark with fury. Behind him were Jasmine, Luna, and Icarus, all staring at her with gloomy, hostile expressions.
"So," General Helius barked, "when exactly did your eyes recover?"
Today at the palace, the Emperor had questioned him until he was utterly humiliated. If he didn’t figure this out clearly, how was he supposed to report to the Emperor tomorrow?
"Forgot," Zora answered lightly.
General Helius’s rage surged. "Zora! Do you even know who you are speaking to?"
"I know," she replied calmly, her lips lifting in a faint smile. "A great general named General Helius."
Her tone was steady. Too steady.
That calm indifference was like gasoline poured onto fire.
General Helius’s eyes turned red with fury. "Insolent brat!"
Without another word, he raised his hand and struck straight toward Zora’s face. He no longer cared about teaching her lightly—he only wanted her to suffer first!
Luna’s eyes lit up with excitement. Today at the Imperial Banquet, Zora had humiliated her again and again. Now she finally got to see this waste pay the price!
Jasmine, standing behind General Helius, also revealed a faint, satisfied smile. This little nuisance should have been dealt with long ago.
The fierce palm wind rushed straight toward Zora.
At that very instant, her eyes turned sharp.
Instead of retreating, she lifted her hand—
Boom!
A loud impact exploded in the hall.
No one had expected that Zora would directly counterattack.
Nor had anyone expected that—Zora would still be standing exactly where she was.
The two palms had collided head-on.
The air fell dead silent.
General Helius looked at her in shock. In that brief exchange, he had clearly felt the power surging from her palm—solid, steady, and unmistakably... cultivated strength!
His heart sank violently.
"This...!"
Luna stared wide-eyed. "Father... why do you look like that?"
She turned sharply toward Zora, disbelief flooding her face. "How could she possibly block you?"
Luna’s pupils also shrank. Even if his father had not used full strength, it was still absolutely impossible for a former waste like Zora to withstand it!
General Helius slowly withdrew his hand. The fury in his eyes had been replaced by deep shock and suspicion.
His voice lowered, heavy and restrained. "When did you start cultivating?"
The moment those words fell, the expressions of Jasmine, Luna, and Icarus all changed completely.
Cultivating?
Did that mean—
Zora was no longer a waste?
The girl standing calmly in front of them, her back straight and her gaze cold... had already stepped onto the path of a spirit warrior?
All three stared at her in stunned disbelief.
And Zora only returned their gazes with a faint, indifferent smile.
