Reborn as the General's Useless Daughter-Chapter 225: No evidence, no crime
"It really looks painful," Reesa said, glancing at Fiona, who was writhing on the ground. Even speaking seemed to take all of Fiona’s strength now.
Baldwin nodded gravely. "It must be unbearable. Otherwise, with her temperament, she wouldn’t be reduced to this state."
A second later, Reesa suddenly broke into a bright, flower-like smile. "Hahaha, seeing her hurt like this makes me feel especially happy!"
Baldwin froze for a moment. He hadn’t expected such a reaction from Reesa, but when he thought about everything Fiona had done, he couldn’t really disagree.
"Zora is amazing," Reesa said cheerfully. "People this annoying deserve a proper lesson!"
She didn’t have the ability to do what Zora did, but just watching was already incredibly satisfying.
Sebastian, however, wasn’t smiling. His brows were knit tightly with concern. "Fiona’s background isn’t simple. Zora, offending her like this... I’m afraid Fiona will retaliate fiercely in the future."
Unlike Reesa, Sebastian knew exactly how terrifying the House Ravens could be. The House Ravens hadn’t brought many people to this ruin, so the pressure didn’t feel overwhelming right now. But once they returned...
If Fiona truly decided to take revenge, Zora would inevitably be dragged into endless trouble.
Miel sighed softly and shook his head. "This can’t be blamed on Zora. Even without today’s incident, Fiona would never have let her go. With Prince Kael standing beside Zora, this grudge was doomed from the start."
Since the hatred had already formed, there was no point holding back anymore.
"In that case," Miel added, "it’s better to vent it properly."
Tiffany also couldn’t help but sigh. "I never expected Zora to be so formidable. Not only is her medical skill outstanding, but even her methods of dealing with people are also far beyond ordinary."
On the Holy Mystic Continent, physicians might not hold the same status as alchemists, but offending a truly capable physician was never a wise decision.
"Zora!" Fiona suddenly screamed, eyes wide and bloodshot, veins bulging at her temples. Her face was ghostly pale as she glared at her. "You poisoned me, didn’t you?"
At once, all the House Ravens’ spirit warriors turned their hostile gazes toward Zora.
"Miss Zora," one of them said coldly, "if you don’t hand over the antidote, don’t blame us for being impolite."
Zora’s expression remained calm, almost amused. "That’s really interesting," she said lightly. "So this is how the House Ravens handles things, throwing dirty water on others without any proof?"
She swept her gaze across the crowd. "I’m standing right here. Did any of you see me poison her?"
"Doing things requires evidence," she continued coolly. "Slandering people like this is far too unfair."
"Seize her!" Fiona roared, fury burning through the pain. "I’ll peel her skin and tear out her tendons myself!"
As her voice fell, the House Ravens’ spirit warriors instantly raised their weapons, their killing intent locking onto Zora.
"Who dares!"
Just as the House Ravens’ spirit warriors were about to move against Zora, a cold, domineering voice cut through the air.
Prince Kael stepped forward.
Killing intent surged from him like a winter tide. His handsome face was coated in frost, and his deep, dark eyes were sharp enough to pierce steel as they locked onto the House Ravens’ spirit warriors.
At that instant, the House Ravens’ expressions shifted again and again.
They knew exactly who Prince Kael was. A man widely regarded as the future successor of Heaven’s Gate. Offending him for the sake of a mere dispute was an incredibly bad bargain.
More importantly, they were not blind. From beginning to end, it had clearly been Fiona who kept provoking trouble. If she hadn’t repeatedly gone after Zora, none of this would have happened.
Now that things had reached this point, even they found it hard to justify stepping in.
Seeing Prince Kael place himself firmly in front of Zora, Fiona’s face twisted with fury.
"Prince Kael!" she shouted hoarsely. "We’ve known each other for so many years. Now that she’s treated me like this, you still want to protect her?"
Her voice trembled with rage and obsession. She simply could not believe that Prince Kael would rather offend the House Ravens than abandon Zora.
At some point, Guinvere had already walked to Prince Kael’s side. Her lotus-like face carried a trace of concern as she lowered her voice.
"Brother, you know Fiona’s identity. Isn’t this... a bit impulsive?"
Seeing Guinvere whispering to Prince Kael, Reesa and the others couldn’t help but tense up.
Would Prince Kael waver?
Raphael silently clenched his fists. Compared to these powerful figures, he was insignificant. But as long as he was still standing, no one would touch Zora.
Sylvandria glanced at him, her heart stirred by an indescribable emotion.
Amid all this chaos, Zora herself remained astonishingly calm, as if none of it concerned her.
"I know what I’m doing," Prince Kael replied coolly. Then his voice rose, clear and resolute. "Zora is my wife. If you want to lay a hand on her, you’ll have to step over my corpse first."
He stood squarely in front of her, his stance already speaking louder than words.
Guinvere’s expression changed subtly. She hadn’t expected that even after her warning, Prince Kael would remain unmoved.
Had she truly lost all weight in his heart after just three years?
"You—!"
Fiona was shaking with fury. Her venomous gaze drilled straight into Zora. If looks could kill, Zora would have died countless times already.
"If you dare do this to me," Fiona snarled, "you won’t live to see tomorrow!"
Zora’s red lips curved faintly. Her tone was light, almost indifferent. "If you could kill me, you would have done it long ago."
Those simple words made Fiona’s face change abruptly.
"So you still won’t admit it!" Fiona screamed. "You poisoned me!"
Zora shrugged, her expression innocent to the extreme. "There’s no evidence. On what basis do you say I poisoned you?"
Her calm, harmless look made Fiona feel as though she were being stabbed again.
That composure was far more infuriating than any open provocation. "If I wasn’t poisoned, how could you dare say I wouldn’t survive?"
Fiona ground her teeth, her eyes bulging as if they might burst from their sockets. Under normal circumstances, such an expression would have been intimidating. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
But now, wracked by agony, even speaking a single sentence seemed to drain all her strength. Any trace of dominance was long gone.
Cold sweat soaked through her robes. Every breath felt like torture. She truly felt as if she were being kept alive only to suffer.
Zora looked at her calmly, without the slightest trace of panic. Her voice was steady and composed.
"I am a physician. Can’t I tell what kind of condition you’re in right now?"
"A physician?" Fiona sneered weakly. "Do you take everyone here for fools?"
"Zora is a physician," Reesa immediately said. "And not just any physician. Her medical skills are extraordinary. The Entire Elysia knows about her skills!"
Sebastian and the others nodded in agreement. They had all personally witnessed Zora’s abilities. Her medical skill was far beyond those of ordinary doctors.
At first, many people hadn’t taken Zora’s words seriously. But seeing even the academy mentors openly affirm her identity, doubt began to creep in.
Was she truly a physician?
"You say you’re a doctor, and you think that proves something?" Fiona sneered. "You’re all in the same group. Of course you’d cover for her!"
"Miss Fiona, watch your words," Sebastian said, stepping forward with a serious expression. "I am an academy mentor. Do you think I would lie about something like this?"
"And the reason we were able to pass through the miasma safely," Reesa added, "was because of the detoxification pill refined by Zora!"
Those words caused a visible stir.
Elowen and the others immediately reacted.
