Chapter 190: The Blue rank Mission (Part-1)

Reesa accompanied her, unable to hide her envy at Zora’s freedom to head into the White Mountains. Ordinary students simply didn’t have the same liberty to leave the academy for training.

"Ah, when will I become a special enrollment student too?" Reesa sighed dramatically. "Then I can live a life like this and make others jealous."

Hearing this, Zora smiled softly. "I’ve heard your results are among the best in your class. As long as you pass the assessment, becoming a special enrollee won’t be difficult."

She knew a little about Reesa’s performance. Her strength was solid, and she was diligent in her studies. Her ranking within the academy was already quite impressive.

"In order to be able to cultivate alongside you in the special enrollment class, I’ve been working ridiculously hard every single day."

As she spoke, Reesa’s eyes sparkled with determination, her youthful face glowing with enthusiasm. "And Elixir of Tranquility helped a lot too. Since my meridians were widened, my cultivation speed has increased noticeably."

She clenched her fists, excitement practically spotioning out of her. "But I haven’t taken the special enrollment assessment yet. That’s why this blue-rank mission really caught my interest!"

Zora looked at her seriously, a thoughtful light flickering in her eyes. "Do you feel confident about passing the special enrollment assessment?"

If Reesa truly had the ability, then she didn’t mind bringing the matter up to the two mentors. Although she had once had some disagreements with Sebastian and Miel, her later interactions with them made it clear that they were broad-minded and valued talent sincerely. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Taking in another capable student shouldn’t be a problem.

Reesa paused for a moment, then lifted her chin with renewed confidence. "I believe I can pass!"

"In that case, I’ll speak to the two mentors when I get the chance," Zora said calmly. "If they’re willing to conduct the assessment in advance, that would be even better."

Reesa’s eyes widened instantly, her face lighting up with uncontrollable excitement. "Zora, you really mean it?"

Zora nodded lightly. "Of course. I can help bring it up, but whether the mentors agree is ultimately up to them."

"I understand!" Reesa grabbed Zora’s hand happily. "No matter what the result is, thank you so much!"

Watching her reaction, Zora couldn’t help but smile. Reesa was the kind of person who found joy easily, and that sincerity was rare.

After purchasing everything needed for the trip, the two returned to the academy together.

Just as Zora arrived at the special enrollment dormitory, she ran into Baldwin.

"Zora, were you just with Reesa?" Baldwin asked, trying to sound casual.

Seeing his expression, Zora smiled faintly. She had noticed long ago that Baldwin paid far more attention to Reesa than he cared to admit.

"Yes. She just went back to her dormitory," she replied.

"Oh... I see." Baldwin’s face briefly revealed a trace of disappointment before he could hide it.

"Baldwin," Zora added, her eyes glinting thoughtfully, "Reesa wants to join us for the White Mountain Range mission. I was planning to ask the mentors if they could conduct her special enrollment assessment in advance. What do you think?"

Interest flashed in Baldwin’s eyes at once. "That would be great!"

"I’m just not sure whether the two mentors will agree," Zora said honestly. "And it’s getting a bit late."

"That’s not a problem," Baldwin replied immediately, patting his chest with confidence. "I was planning to see the mentors anyway. Leave this to me."

Zora raised an eyebrow slightly. "You’re confident you can persuade them?"

"Relax. There won’t be any issues," Baldwin said with a grin.

"Alright, then I’ll leave it to you," she replied, smiling.

"Perfect. I’ll go right now. If it gets any later, it might be inconvenient to arrange the assessment."

As his words fell, Baldwin’s figure was already darting away, disappearing like a gust of wind from Zora’s sight.

Watching Baldwin’s retreating figure, the curve of Zora’s red lips slowly deepened.

If it really were Baldwin and Reesa together... it actually didn’t seem bad at all.

"Master, you’re scheming again," Black teased, grinning from ear to ear as he peeked up at her.

Zora shot him a sideways glance and shrugged with an innocent expression. "I merely gave Baldwin an opportunity to show himself. If things go well, Reesa will naturally feel grateful to him. That’s all."

As for the rest, she truly hadn’t thought that far.

The next day dawned bright and clear, the sunlight warm and just right.

At the entrance of the academy, Zora and the others had already gathered. In the square nearby, ordinary-class students were practicing diligently, their movements orderly, while glances of envy kept drifting toward the group preparing to depart.

At this moment, the special enrollment students had packed their belongings and were ready to head for the White Mountain Range. The contrast between the two groups was striking.

"Special enrollment students really live differently. They get to go out and gain experience, while we’re stuck here repeating the same drills every day."

"I wonder when we’ll finally become special enrollees ourselves."

"Enough daydreaming. If you want that kind of treatment, pass the assessment first. Envy won’t get you anywhere."

The murmurs rippled through the crowd, but mixed in with the envy was something else entirely. Earlier that morning, the news that Reesa had successfully passed the assessment and become a special enrollment student had already spread throughout the academy.

The announcement didn’t just spark jealousy. It ignited resolve.

If Reesa could do it, then so could they.

Thinking of the privileges and opportunities enjoyed by special enrollment students, many ordinary students felt their blood surge with motivation, their determination quietly hardening.

While the crowd buzzed with discussion, Reesa herself hurried over to Zora, her pretty face glowing with excitement.

"Zora, thank you so much!" she said earnestly. "I really get to go to the White Mountains with you. This feels unreal!"

Zora smiled gently. "You passed the assessment on your own merits. Besides, Baldwin was the one who went to speak with the mentors yesterday. If you want to thank someone, it should be him."

As she spoke, her gaze drifted meaningfully toward Baldwin.

Reesa froze for a second, confusion flickering across her face. "Baldwin?"

Nearby, Baldwin had been quietly listening to their exchange. When Reesa’s eyes turned toward him, he suddenly felt awkward and scratched the back of his head.

"I just happened to have something to discuss with the mentors yesterday," he said hastily. "When I ran into Zora, she mentioned your situation, so I brought it up."

Only then did Reesa understand. Her expression brightened immediately as she smiled at him. "So it was you. Thank you, Baldwin!"

Baldwin stared at her smile, his mind going blank for a moment. He stood there grinning foolishly before finally managing to reply, "It was nothing. Really, just a small effort."

Only he knew how much effort that "small" thing had taken.

The night before, he had practically talked Sebastian and Miel’s ears off.

Convincing them to arrange an early assessment outside the usual schedule had been anything but easy. He had explained, argued, reasoned, and nearly exhausted every persuasive trick he knew.

The two mentors had been so worn down by his persistence that they eventually gave in, half-reluctantly agreeing to let Reesa try.

Fortunately, Reesa’s strength lived up to expectations. She passed the assessment cleanly and officially joined the special enrollment class. Otherwise, even Baldwin himself would have felt unbearably embarrassed.

Once all the special enrollment students had gathered, Sebastian’s steady voice rang out, calm yet decisive.

"Since everyone is here, we’ll set off for the White Mountain Range now."
