Reborn as the Failed Lord with my Resource Gathering System.-Chapter 255: A true history of the god killer.
Back inside the dark barrier, Dorian looked at Yahoshi, an expression of disbelief hitched on his face as she told the story.
He listened to every word.
And with every word he got, he was able to link it to the existing stories that he had, piecing everything together.
"So you're saying… I am this Jacob? Is that it?"
He asked, almost as though he was afraid of the response he was going to get.
"Yes." Yahoshi, of course, gave him her straightforward reply. "Do you doubt all that I have told you? Even though I have not told the whole story yet?"
Dorian averted his gaze, thinking more on what he had heard.
"How come I have no memory of anything?"
"Because you died." Yahoshi was quick to give a reply as always, her brows frowning even more.
Then she proceeded to continue the story, the pain visible on her face showing just how vividly she remembered everything.
…
[Memory Playback Continues]
After Jacob had killed the God of Wine, the people of the village, though hesitant at first, soon accepted him.
This acceptance solidified after an angel was sent to observe how Dionysius had died.
Right in front of their eyes, they watched as Jacob killed the angel that was sent, ripping it to shreds as though it were an ordinary animal.
Seeing this display of power, people began to look at him as a deity in his own right—the only being in the entire world that was able to stand against the divine force and finally bring justice to the mortal realm.
No one knew where he came from, or who he was, but it didn't take long for them to assign him the title of "King of Men."
During this time period, he would go around saving more people from the oppression of the gods, killing their messengers and those stupid enough to physically show themselves in the human realm.
Known as the King of Men, people continued to serve him, praying to him so he would save them from the gods of the Heavenly Realm.
And he did.
Slaying one god after another, over and over again.
With time, the gods took notice of his existence, labeling him the God Killer, a threat to the entire god race.
By this time, Jacob had already become famous on Earth, with Yaho acting as his partner in all things. She taught him everything and gave him advice whenever he needed it.
He would then go on to tame the dragons of the Eastern Mountains—dragons who were said to have spirited themselves away from the matters of all the realms.
However, in the face of the God Killer, they were forced to follow his orders, submitting themselves to him and pledging their loyalty.
This then earned him the title of the Dragon Monarch.
His name only further spread when he assigned powerful warriors from the resistance to look after specific dragons. If they were of good heart and strong mind, they would be able to control the dragons, becoming Dragon Masters serving under the Dragon Monarch.
As for Jacob, by his side was his trustworthy companion, the Dragon Ragnor, leader of the entire dragon race.
By the time the gods could understand what was happening, the human race had become far stronger than they ever expected.
From Jacob, they learned that once they ate the flesh of the angels, they awakened powers far beyond their own comprehension.
When Yapa, Yaho's father, ate the flesh of an angel, he found a different kind of mana running through his veins; this mana strengthened him, improving his magic abilities the more he trained.
In order to keep track of their strength, they measured it using Ranks.
There was the Novice, the Master, and so forth.
Each of them eager to prove themselves stronger than the last.
But of everyone, only one person was strong enough to attain a rank higher, a rank that was then called the Lord Rank.
That was the son of a famous Chief, meant to be married to Yaho at the time.
His name was Jin.
After he too killed an angel, he was named the "Second Coming of the King of Men," a hero.
It was peaceful.
The gods seemed to have stopped attacking, and humanity was growing stronger day by day. Just from the appearance of the Dragon Monarch, it seemed like all their lives had changed.
Yaho even got her wish and got married to Jacob. Something that spread through the land as quickly as the wind traveled.
However…
Just when it seemed like it was all over.
The gods attacked.
Sending their most powerful warriors, they slaughtered hundreds of humans in the dead of night, calling it a punishment for their transgression.
Many called for the Dragon Monarch's interference. And as always, he arrived.
This time, doing the impossible.
Every human that had died, he brought them back to life.
He turned them into what would be called Demons, beings that were directly linked to him and capable of controlling a new type of mana: Demon Mana.
But as expected, humans wanted revenge on the gods for their actions.
Now, they felt they were strong. Strong enough to put up a fight against their once-oppressors.
Dragons.
Demons.
Humans.
All were in favor of the Dragon Monarch acting on the war.
Soon, Jacob agreed and launched a war against the gods when they least expected it.
The war went on for years, with over 50,000 gods getting wiped out in that short span.
It came as a shock.
All of a sudden, the humans were able to kill the gods as though they were merely mortals.
It made no sense.
The mortal realm would come every day, murdering them like flies.
Some of the gods, scared, even went to the mortal realm to surrender, offering themselves as prisoners.
But rather than kill them, Jacob saw their hearts and forgave them, adding them to the list of people who had chosen to follow in his path.
Of course, this angered the High Gods.
It was bad enough they were getting wiped out of existence despite holding so much power; now some of their own were turning to the human side.
It truly angered them.
So much so they had to go with a dirty tactic.
"Kill the man they call the God Killer, and in return, I shall make you a god amongst the Heavenly Realm, far stronger than the likes of any mortal or god you have ever seen."
These were the words the God of Eternity uttered to a greedy human Monarch.
While Jacob was fighting on the front lines as he did every time he was needed, the greedy Monarch sent his soldiers to Jacob's territory.
They murdered everyone.
Killing the women and children and leaving their heads in front of their doors as a message to the rest.
Other villagers that tried to get involved were slaughtered as well. Under the name of the God of Eternity, the invaders were able to use powers that let them come back to life even if they were killed.
And when Jacob and his people returned back to the realm, he found them all dead.
Every last one of them.
Including Yapa's wife, Yaho's mother.
Luckily, Yaho had been working in the fields and had the chance to hide. But to her, she didn't care much about her own survival. After all, as long as Jacob was alright, that was all she cared about.
Jacob vowed to get to the bottom of it all.
He went to look for the Monarch, to question and potentially bring justice to the people who had died after he had failed to bring them back to life.
But on his way there, he got ambushed.
Not by gods.
But by the very humans he thought he was protecting.

I guess this is it for me.
