Chapter 1694: Chapter 1688: Did I See a Ghost!?

Because time is frozen inside the Space, Yujiali was completely dazed when she was released from Storage Space by Huo Sining. She didn’t even realize that someone had stolen nearly half an hour of her time just now.

Yujiali’s mind was a bit muddled because she soon heard the passionate voice of the host coming from the stage, shouting: "Congratulations to the winner of our Special Award, the director of ’Kite Angel,’ Lixiang Zheng, for coming up to receive the award!"

The applause was thunderous. Sitting in the control room, Yujiali saw the display screen synchronizing with the award stage. The camera focused on a Huaxia woman passionately hugging her companion, then she walked energetically onto the stage and stood at the center. This person was so familiar—she was the one Li Youyou wanted her to deal with—Zheng Lixiang.

After getting on stage, the host was smilingly joking with Zheng Lixiang. Zheng Lixiang smiled back, holding her golden trophy, responding to the host’s questions, and giving her acceptance speech.

Yujiali, however, couldn’t hear what exactly the two were saying because her mind was roaring, leaving her dumbfounded.

What the hell is going on? Why was she sitting there comfortably in the control room, ready to tamper with Zheng Lixiang’s video samples during the Horizon Unit playback, yet the stage had skipped these two segments?

Yujiali was utterly confused, instinctively feeling something was wrong with the stage process. She didn’t believe it was her fault since she hadn’t felt that half an hour had suddenly passed.

However, when she looked down, she was shocked to find her eyes wide open.

Because she suddenly discovered that, at some unknown time, several new video samples had appeared in her playback software. The award ceremony process had directly moved into the Horizon Unit, and several awards from earlier groups had already been given.

This made Yujiali’s heart skip a beat, and she leapt from her chair.

What the hell is going on? Who added these samples? This is definitely not her doing!

What’s more shocking to Yujiali is that these samples had already been played. But she had been sitting in the control room the whole time, so why didn’t she know when these samples were inserted and played?

This absolutely was not her doing; Yujiali could be certain she hadn’t done it, as she had no recollection of hearing the main stage follow into the Horizon Unit section.

Yet, indeed, this segment had already been broadcasted. After checking again, Yujiali realized that over half an hour had inexplicably passed while her memory was stuck at the last sample playback of the previous unit.

It truly was maddening!

Yujiali felt like she was going crazy, panic rising within her. Almost instinctively, she clicked open the computer backend, wanting to find the section of video samples that Li Youyou had given her that had been replaced.

But even more baffling to Yujiali was that that video sample was nowhere to be found!

She couldn’t locate it anywhere in the computer; the video had vanished like a phantom, disappearing without a trace!

Yujiali felt a heavy thump in her heart, her face blanching, as she sharply turned her head to look at her companion: "Feiluo, did you mess with my computer?"

Her companion lifted his head with a bewildered look towards Yujiali: "Why would I mess with your computer? Yujiali, this joke isn’t funny at all. You know I never touch other people’s things lightly. In fact, I’ve been sitting right here the whole time, and I haven’t touched your computer."

Hearing this, Yujiali instinctively bit her lip, wanting to ask more, but her phone suddenly rang.

Yujiali picked up her phone, hesitating once she saw the caller’s name displayed, but after pausing for a moment she still answered the call.

On the other end, Li Youyou immediately started cursing: "Yujiali, you damn bitch, do you find it amusing to fool me? Taking money and not doing anything, huh? I’m telling you, my money isn’t that easy to swindle! Didn’t you want to go back and develop in our country? Believe me, as soon as you return, I’ll have people kill you!"

Yujiali turned pale. She understood why Li Youyou was so angry. Seeing Zheng Lixiang escaping unscathed infuriated her as well. But being berated by Li Youyou and even threatened with murder over this incident left Yujiali even more enraged.

Now Yujiali was unable to grasp the situation, clueless about what had happened, but clearly, this matter wasn’t as simple as it seemed on the surface.

Yujiali really wanted to curse back at Li Youyou, but she knew very well that now wasn’t the time to fall out with her. This woman still had her uses, and it would be a waste to squander it.

"I know you’re very angry, but Sister Youyou, I must explain this to you. It’s hard to make sense of it over the phone. Come to the backstage, to the control room!"

Li Youyou was already prepared to fight it out with Yujiali, and upon hearing Yujiali say this, she didn’t hesitate for a moment, immediately hanging up the phone and heading straight to the control room.

Upon reaching the control room, Yujiali explained the strange events that occurred. After finishing, Li Youyou gave Yujiali a look like she was staring at an idiot.

"Yujiali, do you really think Li Youyou is just a big-breasted airhead, with an IQ low enough to let you fool me? Even if you wanted to deceive me, you could’ve picked a better excuse. Do you think I’m an idiot?"

After hearing Yujiali’s explanation, Li Youyou was utterly furious, glaring at Yujiali as though she was about to explode in fury.

"I didn’t lie to you! I’m telling the truth; I don’t know what happened with those samples—they weren’t added by me. Even the sample you sent me, which I swear was in the computer’s backend, is now gone. I’ve searched every drive and couldn’t find it. I don’t even have a memory of the Horizon Unit awards being presented, it’s like I’ve blacked out. This is too weird!"

Yujiali argued anxiously. She herself knew that this explanation was absurd, but it was indeed the truth, and she desperately needed a reasonable explanation.

Li Youyou, seeing the urgency and sincerity in Yujiali’s eyes, felt a bit uncertain, wondering if perhaps Yujiali wasn’t lying.

But such an explanation was too far-fetched; no one would believe it.
