Reborn As Cursed Alpha's Mate-Chapter 127: Emotional Wounds Are Worse Than Physical Ones
Chapter 127: Emotional Wounds Are Worse Than Physical Ones
Siroos combed through the rest of the tome but he found nothing else related to the curse or what initiated it. He shared the findings with his mother and the newly found Elder Council and it was decided to keep the information limited to them. The pack might panic knowing it.
He was left stunned at the revelation. The story of Asara came to mind as he was reminded again that she stopped visiting their realm around the same time.
What could his original self have done to incur such wrath from the gods? It seemed like he had always been headstrong and never cared about them in the first place.
But he rammed his mind to remember any bit of what might have happened all those centuries ago. Nothing came to his mind, as if his memories were all locked away.
Finishing his discussion, Siroos mind linked his brother and Beta, asking them to meet him in his chamber so we could speak to them in privacy.
"How are you doing? Did you speak to SIL? She is not leaving, right?" Faris hounded him with questions, seeing him sit against the wall with his wrists on his bent legs, looking downtrodden. His life kept spiralling out of control.
"She is staying but she wants to have nothing to do with me," Siroos bewailed, letting all that facade drop now that he was with people who understood him.
Faris sank near his brother and placed his arm around him. Ranon stood in front of him rather protectively.
"She is staying and that’s all that matters for now. The wounds are still fresh, give her time to heal, I know you will win her heart again." Faris being Faris was always the voice of rationality and positivity.
"That’s the first step towards the healing both of you will need. And we are here, every step of the way. Anything you need." This time it was Ranon with his pearls of wisdom.
"I would appreciate it if you would try and keep her happy. She wouldn’t let me anywhere near her, but she wishes to train with you for the Luna Trails. Can you do that? Both of you?" Siroos’s hopeful eyes wavered to them both.
"Brother! You don’t even have to ask. She will be smiling in no time." Faris pulled his brother in for a hug. Ranon gladly nodded as well.
"There is more I need to tell you both." Siroos went on to inform them both about his findings.
"Bless-o brother, you have always been wicked. Fought the gods, I am sure. Did you steal a goddess or something?" Faris playfully nudged his brother with his elbow making a very small smile creep up on his lips.
"Maybe!" He shrugged his rugged shoulders.
"We are with you and this time I have a feeling the outcome of the curse will be different. You have a mate and that will account for something," Ranon wisely said as the three men further discussed the implications of it.

Cassandra returned to her chamber where Ara had arranged for her bath.
"Nissa! Let me help you," she gently suggested seeing Cassandra’s sullen face and puffy eyes. She wasn’t in a condition to take a bath alone.
"No, Ara. I would like to do this on my own. I would like to return to my training after the bath, kindly inform Faris to meet me," Cassandra painfully answered, heading towards her wash area.
Ara sadly watched her Luna but nodded before exiting her chamber and mind-linking Faris.
Cassandra took off her gown and stepped inside the bathtub filled with scented water. Her hand went to her chest, the spot where his hand had landed before pushing her. It had bruised into a deep purple patch.
It wrecked her emotionally more than it hurt physically. No man had ever laid a hand on her before. Her father was tough and didn’t care much for her but he was never physically abusive towards Cassandra.
Apart from Stephanie, no one had ever hit her before. But all of Stephanie’s abuse on one side, this push stung the most. It was like he had torn her apart and scattered the pieces to harsh winds.
The water didn’t soothe her today, the relaxing oils didn’t calm her down. The way Siroos had fiercely glared at her, the rage she had felt emanating from him had almost made her heart stop beating.
That moment was forever etched onto her brain. Gathering her legs she plastered them to her emotionally crushed chest and buried her face between them. Her arms hugged her legs as sobs rocked her body.
The encounter near the oasis had left her completely drained.
The worst part was that she still didn’t hate him. She had this feeling that malice against him could never occupy her heart. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
The girl with golden hair had thought that she would yell at him, finally. The moment she would see him, this emotional storm would burst out of her. But it didn’t.
There was this defeat in his eyes and posture, the one she had never seen before. It had fuelled the numbness in her heart. That feral look he had given her earlier had evaporated only to be replaced by regrets and unsaid apologies.
He seemed more broken than her. The actions he had taken of burning his pack members alive, must have weighed on him heavily. Cassandra knew if she had asked, he would tell her what they had done to him to make him act like that.
But she was tired of the schemes; the more she fought, the more forces worked against her. She had to let him go for now. Keep a distance and safeguard her heart.
It would be extremely painful but not impossible.
The loss of what they had clawed its way into her battered body and rendered her so weak that she found it impossible to get up.
He had just confessed his love to her and then went on to fuck Kela. Her life couldn’t be more messed up.
"Nissa!" Lana’s soft but deeply concerned voice pulled her out of her misery and she raised her head to glance in her Beta’s direction. Her body shivered from the amassing vulnerable emotions rolling out of her.
"I got you." Lana wrapped her comforting arms around Cassandra, letting her show this vulnerability which she had refused to so far, even in front of Siroos. She had cried but hadn’t completely broken.
In Lana’s arms, she did.
"I am here, I am always here for you. Those who hurt you are gone, Alpha made sure of that." Lana kept comforting her while battling her own tears. She needed to be strong for her Luna.
"I... just wanted his love not... betrayal, " Cassandra wailed, clutching Lana’s arm. "Why was it too much to ask?"
"It wasn’t, Nissa. The people are just cruel," Lana tried to calm Cassandra down, but there was no calming the heart, which was broken into so many pieces that she wasn’t even sure how to put them back together.
After hours, Cassandra’s wails dulled into slow sobs and Lana was able to guide her out of the bathtub. The bruise on her chest horrified Lana but Cassandra refused to have her place a balm on it.
"What’s the point of healing physically when I can’t heal emotionally?" Cassandra had said while Lana helped her slip into a simple olive sundress. Lana was speechless, she didn’t know how to comfort her Luna anymore.
She picked up her dagger and placed it into the hilt of her belt. Picking up her waterskin she was ready for her training session.
"Can I bring you something to eat?" It was more than twenty-four hours since Cassandra had eaten anything.
"No, I would like to head over to the training arena and train." Cassandra made her way to the door and threw it open. Stepping out she found Faris leaning against the wall, waiting for her. Deep concerns and worries had hardened his face, his boyish charms had disappeared.
"SIL!" He gently called her, rushing forward he hugged her with all his brotherly affections. That mask Cassandra had plastered on her face and all those emotions she had buried crumbled and fell; the emotions tumbled out like a natural spring sprouting from the ground.
She was a quivering mess in his hold as Faris held and consoled her.
"We are sorry, all of us. We failed you."
It took Cassandra a while to get hold of her emotions and separate from Faris. He had that comforting embrace which assuaged some of her grief.
"Help me train from today onwards, I don’t want anyone to think I am broken or weak," she informed Faris, wiping away the last of her tears with the back of her hand. She was done crying.
"Gladly, come. We are going to win those Luna Trials. And if you need to talk, I will always listen. I won’t try to pressure you into changing your feelings about what happened; sometimes, all you need is time to heal."
Cassandra thankfully nodded at Faris as he led her towards the training arena.
