Chapter 225 - Longevity Essence Stone!

Maruti ran through the rain, her half-wet body shivering slightly from the cold. She rushed up the stairs and reached her dorm room. Without wasting a second, she opened the door quietly and stepped inside.

But the moment her foot touched the floor, she stopped. Her instincts kicked in. Her body stiffened, and her eyes narrowed.

"I know you're there. Come out!" she yelled into the room.

There was complete silence. Not even the sound of raindrops outside could be heard. The stillness hung heavy, almost suffocating.

Suddenly, someone dropped down from the ceiling and landed near her feet. It was Alice. Her purple eyes were filled with guilt as she looked down.

"You again?" Maruti said, her voice rising with frustration. "Can you stop stalking me in my room? Give me some damn privacy!" She forced a smile, but the veins on her forehead popped slightly in irritation.

"I-I... um... you said you'd go out with us, but it's been three weeks," Alice said in a small, shaky voice as she walked closer. "You never said anything about the date..."

Maruti crossed her arms and looked away. "Not now. And I'm not someone who goes back on their word that easily. Just wait a bit longer."

"Wait?" Alice repeated, her voice suddenly sounding deeper.

She leaned in close, placing both palms gently on Maruti's cheeks. Her usual shy aura vanished. In seconds, her presence grew intense, like a completely different person.

Alice looked taller now, her eyes wide and wild.

"I don't want to wait. You're mine," she whispered with a crooked smile. "We should go on a date, laugh together, and have even more fun at night..."

Maruti's eyes widened, sweat starting to form on her forehead.

"Shit... she's gone back to that personality..."

"I just wanted to watch you sleep... maybe touch your hair a little. Is that too much? Do you know how much it hurts seeing you talk to that silver-haired lizard—"

She stopped. Her words caught in her throat. She coughed twice.

"I'm sorry... I got carried away," Alice mumbled, her crazy look fading. She pulled back and lowered her head. "We'll meet tomorrow\..."

She turned and ran out of the room in a hurry.

Maruti stood there, staring at the door Alice had just disappeared through. Her heart was still beating fast.

Only after a few seconds did she let out a long breath and slump her shoulders.

"I really thought I was screwed... This is why I hate relationships. Girls expect so much... especially attention..."

Maruti sighed again and walked slowly toward her bed. Her clothes were still damp from the rain, clinging uncomfortably to her skin. She looked down at herself and let out a small groan.

She pulled off her wet top, leaving herself in just her bra. Her skirt was still wet too, but she was too tired to care. She dropped onto the bed and lay flat on her back, staring up at the ceiling with a blank look.

"Recently... every time I walk into this room, I stop and pretend like I sense someone... then say something like 'I know you're there' or 'I can see you'," she muttered to herself. Her voice was low and full of exhaustion. "And shockingly, either Kaelith or Alice actually comes out of hiding."

She gave another sigh, this one longer and more frustrated.

"Was Kaelith stalking me not enough? Now even Alice joined in? I feel like I'm being watched even in the toilet now\..." she grumbled, like she was complaining to the heavens above.

Her eyes narrowed slightly. "I guess their patience is running out. I really do need to go on a date with them soon... or else—"

Her words stopped mid-sentence. Her eyes widened. Her ears twitched.

"I heard something..." she thought, sitting up quickly. Her heart beat a little faster. The room was quiet again, but something felt off.

She stood up and walked toward her closet—the one where she kept her clothes. Without hesitation, she grabbed the handle and pulled the doors open with force.

Standing inside, cramped and awkward, was Kaelith.

Maruti stared at her in disbelief, a hand slowly dragging down her face.

"Now\... can you explain to me what you're doing in here?" she asked, her voice filled with disappointment rather than anger.

Kaelith gave an awkward smile and scratched the back of her head. "I-I just wanted to give you a surprise, but... I guess it didn't go well. Hahaha..."

Maruti sighed again, deeper this time. "What kind of surprise? Scaring me in the middle of the night while I'm asleep?"

But before she could say anything else, Kaelith stepped forward and gently grabbed Maruti's wrist.

"Come here for a second," she said softly.

She led Maruti to the middle of the room and gently made her sit down on the bed. Kaelith sat beside her and patted the spot next to her.

"Sit here first," she said again, her voice calm and almost shy.

Maruti looked confused. Kaelith didn't seem like she was playing around anymore. It was like she really had come for something.

Then Kaelith slowly reached into her pocket and pulled something out.

It was a flower—a glowing red hibiscus.

It wasn't an ordinary flower. A soft, red light surrounded its petals like a warm flame. It looked full of life, pulsing with energy and beauty.

Maruti stared at the glowing flower with wide eyes. Her mouth was slightly open, and her breath caught in her throat.

Then Kaelith spoke in a soft voice. "This is a Longevity Essence Stone. It can raise a person's lifespan by 50 years."

Maruti blinked, her expression slowly changing to shock. She knew very well how rare and valuable that was. For most humans, who only lived around 100 years, something like this was priceless—something you could only dream of.

"Why are you showing me this?" she asked slowly, her voice filled with a mix of confusion and suspicion.

Kaelith scratched the back of her neck and looked away awkwardly. "You said... last time... something about dying early, low lifespan and stuff like that..."

Maruti's mind flashed back. "Oh... that. I was just talking nonsense... I didn't think she'd take it seriously." But she didn't say that out loud. Instead, she just stayed quiet.

Then Kaelith gently pushed the glowing flower into Maruti's hand.

"You take this," Kaelith said softly. "I know... it's not enough... Mother is very strict. But I'll bring more later, I promise."

Her voice sounded almost guilty, like she had done something wrong or broken a rule made by Maruti.

Maruti looked at her, surprised again. "This is for me? Is this what people mean when they say impress someone with expensive gifts?", she thought. She had a pretty good guess what Kaelith was about to ask next... but still, she didn't refuse. In fact, she quickly grabbed the glowing essence and stuffed it into her skirt pocket with a shameless grin.

"I can't let something this valuable slip out of my hands!", she thought, feeling proud of herself for getting it.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The air felt strange... a little heavy, a little awkward.

Then Kaelith looked around nervously, and finally turned to Maruti again.

"Umm... so..." she mumbled, her face turning a little red, "You know... I gave you something valuable, so... how about you reward me a little?"

She pointed at Maruti's chest—bare except for a tight black bra—and then made a silly motion in the air, like she was squeezing something soft with both hands.

Maruti gasped and quickly covered her chest with her arms out of instinct.

But deep inside... she knew she had already accepted the gift. That alone was like silently saying yes.

"...C-Come tomorrow," she muttered, looking away awkwardly. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"Why tomorrow?" Kaelith asked, leaning closer with a playful grin. "It's raining right now. Isn't this the perfect romantic mood?"

Maruti didn't answer. Instead, she pushed Kaelith's face away with her hand.

"What do you mean why?" she shouted. "I feel like a prostitute—selling my body for a damn essence stone!"

Kaelith blinked, surprised. Her face froze for a second, like she didn't expect Maruti to say that.

"Wha—Of course not!" Kaelith said quickly. "I'd never think of you that way! It's just once, okay? Just one time! We won't do it again."

Maruti looked at her, still frowning. But after a few seconds, she sighed and gave a small nod.

"Fine... but remember—only once."
