Reborn as an Evolving Space Monster: Harem Of Otherworldly Beauties-Chapter 381: Fuzzy Feeling
"It wasn't a perfect match for me." Cero said after a moment. "Plenty loved it there, but I never quite found my place there. Maybe because I left too early?"
"Hm… I guess I feel the same way about Wor." Roka whispered, lying on her side and looking in his direction, blanket covering most of her face. "It isn't a perfect match, and probably never will be."
"Do you think there is a Planet out there that is a perfect match? A civilization that would suit you perfectly?"
"I'm not sure." Roka answered after thinking about it for a bit. "I know that some places sound better than others, but usually they're…"
"Better in one way, but also worse in another?" Cero completed her sentence.
"Yeah." She nodded. "Plus… I guess I have too much history with Wor to love it, you know?"
"Too many negative experiences, you mean? Yeah, I guess some people move, not to go somewhere particular, but just to get away." Cero scratched his chin. "Getting a new start and all."
"A new start sounds good," Roka whispered. "Though in that case, it doesn't need to be a new Planet, does it? Just a different city or country? A place that I'm unfamiliar with and where people don't know me."
"That could have worked in the past." Cero let out a dry chuckle.
"I'm not that famous." Roka shrugged. "In the first place, no one really cares about the kind of public figure I am, not really."
"Even saving the world won't make you as famous as singers and actors."
"People might know my name, but I won't get recognized." She nodded. "Hm…" Roka frowned. "I don't like how quickly this conversation turned into a plan."
"You're free to leave with us," Cero said, ignoring Roka's attempt at making the conversation lighter. "You know?"
"And be a third… Fifth wheel forever?" She chuckled. "No thanks."
Cero momentarily paused.
He assumed that Roka must have known by now, but it was the first time she was acknowledging it.
At the very least, beyond Lith.
"Yes, yes, I know," Roka said with a sigh.
Even she was surprised at the fact that she'd blurted it out, almost as if the dimmed light mixed with being in bed made talking freely easier. They weren't in bed together, but the effect was the same.
"What do you know?" Cero asked, attempting to play dumb even though he knew it likely wasn't going to work.
"That you've made yourself a reverse harem," She answered with an awkward chuckle.
"Eh… I don't like us being referred to that way."
"Why not?"
"Makes it sound dirty."
"Dirty and lewd, hehe."
"We're more like old and boring married couples."
Roka was silent for one second.
"Old boring couples don't wake up their neighbour in the middle of the night." She blurted out suddenly.
Gulp-
Roka pulled the blanket to hide her face further, anxiously waiting for his response.
"Well, that's awkward." Cero said. "I hope that didn't happen too often."
"Hahaha, no. Once or twice." Roka shook her head. 'More like a couple of dozen times… Ugh!'
"You could have told us to keep it down, you know?" He muttered with a reprimanding tone.
"Told you to keep it down?"
"Yes."
"What am I? The grandma living on the floor above?"
"Coincidentally… Yeah, kinda."
"So, what? I get woken up because you're… Going at it with any one of my subordinates… And you expect me to come to your room and knock and tell you to keep it down?!" Roka was so agitated she sat up at once. "Is that it?"
"Exactly," Cero answered at once, lips twitching due to repressed laughter.
Roka remained seated for a moment, staring at the general outline of his body under the blanket, before breaking out with laughter.
"Sure, yeah. You know what, I'll keep it in mind for next time."
"So there will be a next time."
"Maybe!" Roka let her back fall onto the mattress. "Provided you all keep it down!"
The two couldn't help but chuckle.
Roka was truly amazed at how easy talking was when the other person wasn't visible.
The awkwardness and anxiety were minimal. It actually felt good.
For the first time in a while, talking actually felt good. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Roka could feel a warm, fuzzy feeling start to form around her.
'Maybe I should have talked about this long ago.' She thought. 'Keeping it a secret, playing dumb… Maybe I thought that doing those things would increase my chances with him, my chances of something happening…' Roka had a wide smile on her face as she stared in his direction. 'But maybe I shouldn't. In fact, maybe nothing should happen between us…'
Roka's lips parted, but took a moment for the words to echo.
"Did you ever… Do group stuff?"
"Huh?"
"You know, like uh… I don't know… You, Lith, and Liz. Or you, Raya, and Liz."
"What?"
"Well, you know, threesomes and all." Roka pursed her lips. "Or uh, I don't know. I don't really see any other combination involving two."
"Roka."
"Yes?" She tilted her head.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"I'm saying that I can't really imagine Rea and Liz or Rea and Raya… Or Rea and Lith… Huh… I guess Rea isn't really a team player, is she? Liz and Lith, I could see though. They're pretty close and…"
"No, seriously." Cero interrupted. "What the hell are you talking about?"
Roka stared in his direction with a raised eyebrow.
There was no way he wasn't understanding what she was saying.
"Wait…" It only hit her a moment later. "Your voice." She muttered. "Could you be… Are you…"
"Don't turn on the lights. I can see you reaching for them."
"Are you blushing?! Is the idea making you blush?!" Roka laughed out loud while pointing at Cero. "You're totally blushing! Imagining both of them at once is making you all hot and bothered!"
"Just shut up and go to sleep!"
