Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 80: Ch : Game 11
"So... how did the meeting go? Were you able to come to a conclusion about what we should do next?"
Lilianna asked as soon as Andrew was back. Everyone had gathered to hear what he had to say, and he quickly told them all about the children and what he had observed.
"Those poor children... I cannot imagine the pain of losing their parents so young and then living like this..."
Clara shook her head in grief, but even she knew there was not much she could do about this situation.
Emperor had been awfully quiet, and it was impossible to tell if that was because this was all news to him or if he just did not wish to talk about it with Andrew and the others.
"I will do it. You said that they asked me to give these kids a medical exam? I will do that once we finish our next game."
Lilianna looked determined to see things through.
She was not one to abandon kids, and especially kids who were going through a hard time. Clara also stood up with a determined expression on her face.
"Well, since we will be going to visit kids, I better put much more effort into growing my fruits. I want to offer them a fresh batch. Lilianna, come with me and help me take a look at the plants."
Clara dragged Lilianna outside, leaving Andrew behind with Emperor and Seraphina.
"Do you know anything about these kids?"
Andrew asked Emperor, since he was the only one who could answer his questions. But from the expression on Emperor’s face, it did not seem like good news.
"I... did hear that the organization was training kids, but I never saw them in any game. I can only conclude that these kids did not get to live long..."
That was concerning news, but not totally unexpected. Games were not a place where children could survive with their fragile bodies.
"I see. Even in our world, children and the elderly were the first to perish. It is the unfortunate situation our world currently is in."
Seraphina sighed with a sorrowful look as well. She had buried more than a few kids with her own hands, and after some time, the pain did numb down a little.
The news was not a happy one, but the world was chasing constant ways to evolve and survive. Unfortunately, that included the kids as well.
"We will have time to think about those kids in the future. For now, we should focus on our next obstacle."
Emperor reminded them, and the tense air in the room finally broke.
"You are right. We need to focus on our own survival first and then think about the kids next. The next game will begin tomorrow, so let’s make sure we get out of it safely."
Andrew reminded the other two as much as he reminded himself.
That one-day limit passed in no time, and before he realized it, the timer had hit zero.
Once again, the sky cracked, and the puppet appeared out of thin air. For the first time in forever, she had a happy smile on her face.
"Everyone, I am delighted to see that you made it to game 11. This is my favorite game I designed, and I want you all to try your best to make it even more special for me."
The humans listening to her tensed. They could not even imagine what kind of game could make the puppet smile like this. But whatever it was, they did not like it.
[Game 11: Shelter Split. Please protect your base beacon from upcoming dangers. A base can only hold a maximum of 10 people at a given time, and it can only be protected with the help of a beacon.
But be warned, not all allies will be what they seem.
Teams that have their beacon safe after 10 days and are inside a shelter will win.]
[Objectives – survive for 10 days and end in a team shelter.]
[Additional Objective: Become the player with the highest kill count. Additional rewards will be provided for the top 10, but it will not be based on rankings.]
[Warning: Your abilities will not be restricted, but only weapons provided inside the game can be selected. Your inventory will be restricted as well.]
"It’s time for desperation and betrayal. I am sure you all will finally show me something interesting."
The puppet smiled before the space started to distort and break apart.
Once it settled, Andrew found himself inside a concrete base, and outside was a forest.
"Where are we-?"
"Did we die-?"
Two pairs of identical voices called out, and the small group looked at two Liliannas in front of them.
"Why-? Why does this keep happening to me?"
"Andrew, you trust me, right? I am the real Lilianna-?"
The second female’s head went rolling off before she finished speaking, and her body disappeared.
No one questioned how Andrew knew which one was not the real one, but Lilianna did let out a nervous laugh.
"C-Can you at least hesitate a little before attacking someone who looks just like me? Your actions make me feel like it can be my head next on your chopping board."
Lilianna sounded worried, but Andrew gave her a reassuring look.
"Don’t worry. I will never mistake an imposter for a precious ally of mine. Especially one as capable as you are."
Lilianna’s mouth fell open in shock, and she suddenly felt a blush cover her face. But she waved it off and gave Andrew a stern look.
Unfortunately for her, the sudden angry growls outside their door caused her to break concentration and focus on what was happening outside.
The ground suddenly shook and caused everyone to lose their balance.
"W-What the... Ugh, you all should see what is happening outside right now."
Clara quickly turned toward the window to take a look outside, only to flinch and take a step back.
The others followed her lead to see what was happening outside, only to see hordes of monsters rushing toward their base, following a small group of people who were running toward it.
