Reborn as a Transcendent-Chapter 767Book 3: : Plenty of Perks, Sister Red Returns
“Did you just say something?” Yae-hime leaned in, her pretty face almost pressing against Irene’s small face, smiling with narrowed eyes as she spoke.
“W-wah!” The latter was startled badly, her body jerking backward as she hurriedly cried out.
“Why are you so flustered? Do you have a guilty conscience?” Yae-hime continued smiling as she asked.
“N-no, I don’t! I walk straight and stand upright. There’s nothing guilty about me at all!” Irene steadied herself and shot back in protest.
“Since there isn’t, then let’s begin.”
“Uuugh, you bad person!” Staring at the four fragments lying on the bed, Irene spoke with a near-tearful expression. This workload was clearly meant to squeeze her dry.
“Relax. I’ll fully support you,” Yae-hime said as she sat down, offering reassurance.
Hearing that, Irene finally let out a breath of relief. With Yae-hime providing full assistance, things would definitely be much easier.
“Th-then let’s start right away!” She picked up the pitch-black fragment and placed it in her palm, her expression turning solemn.
On the other side, Yae-hime removed her boots and moved behind Irene. Her pale, jade-like hand extended forward and gently pressed against Irene’s smooth back. In the next instant, green flames ignited across her entire palm as life energy surged forth.
‘Uu… my body is going to be filled again~’
Sensing the endless stream of life energy pouring into her body, Irene’s face flushed slightly, her heart racing with excitement. In the blink of an eye, the stamina she had burned away during her sleepless nights was fully restored.
After internally converting the energy into sacred power, Irene officially began purifying the fragment in her palm. Golden light blossomed as the pitch-black fragment immediately began releasing wisps of dark mist.
The two worked in seamless coordination, and in less than twenty minutes, the fragment was completely purified. At this moment, the fragment in Irene’s hand had turned crystal clear, faint traces of holy power seeping out.
‘I can feel it. It’s a holy power that resonates extremely well with me!’ Clutching the fragment tightly, a pleased smile unconsciously tugged at the corners of her lips. Although helping Yae-hime recharge was exhausting and troublesome work, it was not without its benefits.
As long as she could comprehend the power within, Irene could step into a higher tier altogether. The legendary realm was no longer just a dream.
Suppressing the excitement surging in her heart, she and Yae-hime resumed their work. This time, it was charging the fragment.
“……” Throughout the process, Yae-hime did not utter a single word. Her expression remained tense as she carefully controlled the output of life energy. Any excessive disturbance could very well attract the attention of that bishop.
She had no intention of becoming the other party’s enemy for now. If they could avoid crossing paths, it was naturally better to do so. Moreover, this kind of meticulous control over life energy brought her no small benefit in her own practice.
While the two were busy, in real life. The Southern Sea Region, Doom Island.
A large fishing vessel was docked at a crude pier. Calling it a pier was generous. It was merely a flattened boulder connected to the island.
“Why isn’t she out yet?” At the bow of the ship stood a dark-skinned, skinny man in his forties. His name was Mack. On the surface, he was a fisherman. In reality, he was a smuggler who operated across Southeast Asia, specializing in illegal border crossings between nearby countries.
At this moment, he was waiting for Sister Red to come out. She was an old client of his and paid extremely well.
“That woman is really dragging her feet,” a sailor complained irritably. On an eerie island like this, he did not want to stay even half a minute longer. What’s more, there were rumors that all kinds of lethal venomous creatures lived there. If a few of them crawled out, it would be more than enough to ruin their day.
“But she pays a lot,” Mack said with a shrug, sounding helpless. Just like his men, he had no desire whatsoever to get close to this island. As a professional smuggler, Mack was well aware of the situation around Southeast Asia.
Doom Island was the most dangerous place in the entire region. Venomous insects and poisonous miasma were not just rumors. He had once helped several desperate fugitives land on the island. Not long after, shrill screams echoed from within. In the end, only one person managed to escape alive.
Even now, Mack could still vividly recall the despair on that man’s face and the terrified words he uttered before dying.
“Bugs. Huge bugs. Help.”
“Captain, what huge bugs?” A sailor on deck asked in confusion.
“Nothing,” Mack shook his head. “Just remembered something from the past.”
‘That woman can go in and out of Doom Island without a scratch… truly intriguing.’ He vaguely sensed that Sister Red was anything but ordinary. If she had not repeatedly assured him that those insects would never leave Doom Island, he would never have wanted to come to this cursed place.
“Captain, the woman in red is coming out!” At that moment, a sharp-eyed sailor spotted a flash of red within the dense forest and shouted.
“When she comes over, you are to call her Sister Red,” Mack reminded them.
A woman who could freely enter and leave Doom Island was clearly someone formidable. He had no intention of courting death because of his subordinates’ rudeness.
The sea surface was calm. On the large fishing vessel, no one spoke as they quietly waited for that vivid red figure to approach.
In their view, Sister Red’s appearance gradually became clearer. Her steps were swift. It took her only thirty seconds to reach the dock.
“Sister Red, all done?” Mack asked respectfully.
“Yes, it’s finished. Is everyone on the ship gathered on deck?” Wearing a long red dress, sunglasses on her face, and carrying a large black bag in her hand, Sister Red lightly leapt onto the ship as she asked.
“Counting myself, all eight crew members are here,” Mack replied.
“Good.” Sister Red nodded. She then removed her sunglasses, green light flickering in her eyes. Before anyone on the ship could react, the green light shot out and struck them. One by one, they froze in place. As if their souls had been stripped away.
“Whatever happens next, you know nothing about it.” Sister Red put her sunglasses back on and said flatly.
The group showed no reaction at all.
With a rapid rustling sound, the dense forest suddenly stirred. After a short wait, numerous black shadows darted out from within. They were all insects, absurdly large ones.
They surged swiftly into the ship’s cabin, and the disturbance gradually settled.
“You should come along as well.” Sister Red turned her gaze toward the forest and spoke softly. The instant she finished speaking, three figures immediately shot out from the dense woods.
They were also insects. Unlike the earlier swarm, these ones stood upright. On the left was a mantis-man with scythe-like forearms, its entire body emerald green. In the middle stood a jet-black ant-man. On the right was a beetle-man clad in red armor.
All three radiated powerful auras, their eyes gleaming with unmistakable intelligence.
“Once on the mainland, you are to obey my orders absolutely. Disobedience means death,” Sister Red said sternly as she looked at them. The three insect-men slightly bent forward and nodded.
“Come aboard.” With that, Sister Red withdrew her gaze and turned toward the ship’s cabin. The three insect-men glanced at one another, emitting strange sounds as if communicating.
A few seconds later, they, too, entered the ship’s cabin.
After settling the insects inside, Sister Red appeared on deck once more. She snapped her fingers, and the crew awakened as if from a dream.
“Set sail immediately for Cathay. From now on, no one is allowed to enter the lower cabins.”
“Yes, Sister Red!” Mack responded.
Immediately afterward, he began directing the sailors to their tasks. Before long, the large fishing vessel sped toward its destination at full throttle.
