Chapter 724: Chapter 724: Her Sweet Maids

They even wondered if they heard her right.

[Does Her Majesty understand what her words mean? It’s going to war with Crux.] 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"His Majesty had already decreed this. We will follow his decision and attack if Crux still does not free all the Prudencians they are keeping. Before His Majesty left, he had assigned the Grand Commander to lead the attack and secure our people. A number of mages from the Magic Tower will also accompany them to ensure that our people are recovered safely," Arabella clarified.

The Grand Commander of the Imperial Knights bowed and confirmed Arabella’s claim by showing a badge of authority Ferdinand had given him as proof that he was indeed the one who would lead the war with Crux.

Alwin also nodded to verify her claim of mages accompanying the knights. It was rather funny that he had such an amused yet somewhat proud look on his face.

[Go on and silence them.] Alwin thought. He did not like having no choice but to follow all the rules the nobility had while staying here so he was quite delighted when seeing them proved wrong at something.

Raymond also nodded when the nobles glanced at him.

Those who doubted Arabella were silenced as they realized that she knew what she was doing.

[Right, she saw the situation in Prudencia herself so she must be keeping a close watch on this issue.]

[The attack on Crux should not be postponed anyway since we would become a laughingstock. Once Crux do not give in to the demands and yet do not get the consequences, other neighboring kingdoms might think of doing the same and be more daring in their aggressions.]

The rulers approved of attacking Crux once the week ends and they still do not relent in returning all Prudencians in their hands. They were relieved to know that someone was already assigned even if Ferdinand was busy with something else.

[I thought it might be about Crux that His Majesty is not around. It seems there’s another reason since he assigned the Grand Commander to take care of the war with Crux. Could it be related to why the heads of several territories are not present and are represented by one of their heirs instead?]

The rulers began noticing that some household heads that were here the previous days were no longer present.

[A relative of one of our maids had just returned from Morbal and said that His Majesty went there and asked the former Count to step down due to corrupt behaviors and mismanagement. Is His Majesty visiting another territory?]

[I have heard rumors about the issues in Morbal but I don’t know the details. They say His Majesty went there himself and assigned Morbal’s daughter as the new ruler. Could His Majesty be in another territory doing the same?]

Those whose territories were near Morbal had an inkling that perhaps Ferdinand had gone to visit Sibruh and the other territories whose household heads were not present.

They wanted to ask where Ferdinand had gone exactly but they knew that since Arabella nor Raymond mentioned it meant it was not yet time to reveal it. Thus, they had no choice but to wait until it was time for them to be informed.

The Court Sessions took half a day and ended without any issues since her assistants and maids’ households supported her.

Arabella was very much grateful for it and noted to add them to the list of people she would invite on her first tea party.

She returned to her personal study and only sighed in relief once she was sure no one could see her.

’Thank goodness that went well,’ Arabella slumped on the couch instead of going to the seat beside her table.

It was more exhausting than she thought but it was worth it. Raymond had even congratulated her before they parted and once again said that she did well in choosing her assistants.

After all, with seven of the most powerful households already supporting her, the other households could not bully her carelessly since it would be an insult to her supporters.

Treating her maids well also contributed to how people thought of her. They did not try anything funny since they were still hoping to get someone from their family to be part of her close associates.

Arabella was lost in thought when she heard a knock.

Knock. Knock.

"Your Majesty, we brought you some refreshments."

It was Carla.

Arabella could also hear her three other maids. They were curious how the Court Session went.

[Did it go well or not?]

[I hope Her Majesty is alright.]

[Did they give Her Majesty a hard time? She looked exhausted when we saw her heading back.]

[I hope some food can help Her Majesty relax after going to that battle.]

Arabella couldn’t help but smile at their genuine concern. She seated herself properly before giving her reply.

"You may come in," she said and all her maids entered.

[Her Majesty looks tired indeed.]

’Was it too obvious on my face?’

Arabella noted to practice being better at hiding her exhaustion. Busier times might come so she wanted to be able to look fresh even if she was tired deep inside.

"Your Majesty, these refreshments might help you," Irene said as she began serving refreshment on the coffee table in front of her.

Arabella decided to indulge herself and picked a slice of fruit that would go well before eating her lunch.

As she was eating, her maids glanced at one another trying to pass around who would ask her the question.

Blanca lost in their staring contest so she was the one who asked.

"Uhm, Your Majesty, did the Court Session go well?"

Arabella swallowed first before eyeing them. She intentionally delayed her reply for several seconds to watch their reactions change.

They tensed up thinking that their efforts must not have worked.

"It went well," Arabella finally said when they were about to droop.

"Really?!" They asked with curiosity.
