Chapter 706: Chapter 706: Had A Lot to Say About His Prank

I believe we have both learned from our history books and neighboring kingdoms that as a king, you do not necessarily have to be at the frontlines to win a war.

I know it is important for the sake of the knights and soldiers’ morale but you do not have to be the one that leads the war. I’m not saying this to make you a coward. I simply mean that we can be strategic as other rulers have done.

Because first and foremost, your life and well-being are of utmost importance to us and all of Lobelius; so please never use them as collateral.

Moreover, someone who asks for your health or your life in exchange for something clearly does not have well wishes for Lobelius.

Without you to reign as King once our respected parents pass the throne to you (which seems to be soon), our younger siblings would be at a loss and our land would be in turmoil.

The status quo and balance of power Lobelius currently has from how you and our parents had worked hard to build all these years would collapse because the nobles who supported you would fight over who to place on the throne next and blame each other on why you had gone through such lengths.

I know you must not want to depend on Valeria too much but please give me a bit of credit. Give me some trust and count it as the result of my hard work.

After all, Valeria will not blindly help anyone either. Thus, I’m doing my best to be a useful Empress. The better I function here, the more help Lobelius will get.

I promise I will do everything I can to ensure this marriage alliance works as how it should. I will get Valeria’s support no matter what in case Lobelius needs help.

Do not worry about me overdoing things since my husband would not allow it. As you can see, he does not want me working too much so I won’t do anything much more than I can handle.

So please do not use underhanded tactics again to try to get what you want from him. Ferdinand will help as long as you ask nicely.

He simply did not agree to your request because he thought it was dangerous and could lead to you getting hurt and possibly straining the relationship between Valeria and Lobelius.

Of course, as you already know, which was why you pulled that prank, he is also conscious and worried about what I, and our family, would think or say in case you got hurt from training with one of his knights.

Moreover, please do not forget that Ferdinand is the Emperor of Valeria. He simply let your actions pass because you are my sibling. But if you had been someone else, you would have truly ended up with broken bones.

His people would not have tolerated your actions either if they knew about it. They take pride in the Empire and they love Ferdinand’s strength so please do not do anything that could insult it.

Next time you want something, why don’t you just tell me about it first so I can speak with him about it first and discuss the pros and cons before making a decision?

(I, at least, have better tactics for asking a favor.)

That’s all I have to say. Take care.

Your Concerned Sibling,

Arabella

***

Arabella’s hand hurt at how fast she wrote the letter. She was done with it in a few minutes despite its length because she had been aching to write the letter to her brother.

From what she saw in Lobelius, it had not changed much from the time she departed. Her perspective did though so she finally understood her brother’s actions better.

He was worried because of the possible war with Fynnia which might last for years once it begins. Thus, getting stronger was a must.

However, it was all the more reason that Lobelius needed someone supported by their people so it was Benjamin who had to rule after their parents.

Years of war with Fynnia or other territories, plus, in-kingdom fighting would only exhaust their resources. Thus, they needed Benjamin who had already gotten the support of both the nobles and the masses.

The noble households do not trust Nicholas yet since they think he is still young. The knights would support Nicholas but the noble houses may not since they were all on Benjamin’s. Their expectations would make them doubt Nicholas.

The same was true with their younger siblings.

Eloisa had begun doing her part in maintaining the status quo among the nobles but that was not enough for her to be strong enough to be the queen when war comes. Moreover, some nobles may support Eloisa but the knights may not. They would have wed Eloisa to one of the most powerful houses in Lobelius to strengthen her support if she was the one to be crowned.

As for Lorelei, she was too young to even be considered. She would only be thought of as a last resort in the worst case that all the other older siblings died.

Benjamin’s presence itself had stabilized Lobelius so if something happened to him, the control and support he had managed to gather over the years would shake and collapse.

Lobelius would be in a mess and whoever replaces him would have to deal with internal conflict first before being able to deal with outer forces.

If they deal with outer forces without fixing their own first, they might just end up getting themselves killed on the battlefield.

Arabella sighed as she folded her letter and placed it in an envelope. She stamped it with her seal and rubbed her summoning ring.

{Alwin, I need your help. Can you please send a letter to my older brother?} Arabella inquired and Alwin teleported before her.

"You just met your siblings. Why would you need to send him a letter so soon?" Alwin inquired.

"I have a lot to say about his prank yesterday," Arabella clarified.
