Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress-Chapter 704: They Do Not Hate Magic
It was clear on Clarisse’s face that she got quite annoyed with it a lot but had to calm herself since they were her adorable little children.
"I feel guilty for scolding them but my mood just goes askew at times. But even so, they keep coming to me asking for my attention. On some days, they get so clingy and want to be pampered a lot more than usual. I try to indulge them since it seems they could feel I would be focused on their sibling once I give birth... Even Raymond becomes so annoying sometimes..."
Clarisse shared a lot of her experiences, difficulties, and joys during her pregnancy. She had not gone out much and could not have tea parties either with other ladies due to the sensitivity of her current pregnancy. Thus, she had a lot of stories to tell now that she finally had another lady she could speak with a lot aside from her family.
Arabella simply listened so Clarisse could let out her pent-up frustrations. She understood the feeling since she also had some of the same frustrations when she was pregnant in her previous life. She had a lot she wanted to complain about back then too but she had no one to talk to and simply kept silent and did her best to bear with it all. She knew it would be different this time though.
After a while, maids and butlers arrived with fruits and goods from Ryvaleh for Arabella to try.
"These are best eaten before a meal while these are best after a meal... As for these, they are best eaten with a bit of salt..." Clarisse showed Arabella how the fruits were eaten and what best went with them.
Arabella enjoyed the fruits and thanked Clarisse for choosing the best quality goods for her from Ryvaleh.
They conversed a lot more about all sorts of things until the children finally returned to them when they got tired of playing around the estate.
The children were all sweaty from running around and their clothes got dirty here and there. It was easy to tell they played all sorts of games now that they finally had someone to play with.
Alice complained about her foot aching.
Meanwhile, Raymart pointed out that it was Alice who kept running around and had to be chased by them.
Dimo kept silent but Arabella could see his eyes were bright. He clearly had fun playing with Alice and Raymart.
"Mommy! I missed you," Alice said sweetly and innocently. She hugged her mother with so much sweetness.
Clarisse could not resist the little girl and could not help but smile happily. She patted her child before pulling out a handkerchief to dry Alice’s sweat.
"I missed you too. Did you enjoy playing with your new friend?" Clarisse inquired and Alice nodded enthusiastically.
"Yes! It was fun!" Alice beamed.
"What about you?" Clarisse also patted Raymart who also came to hug her on the other side.
"I also had fun. We played a lot of games," Raymart grinned.
[I wanted to play swords with him but the maids said we are not allowed since Mother prohibited. Should I ask Father about it?]
’Oh my, it seems they can learn swordsmanship together indeed,’ Arabella smiled at the thoughts she heard.
Raymond said Clarisse was panicky due to her pregnancy so she could not watch Raymart’s sword lessons anymore.
Clarisse also voiced that she now ends up too worried so she does not watch it anymore or she might just tell Raymart to stop trying to learn swordsmanship.
"I see. That’s good," Clarisse also tried to dry Raymart’s sweat after she was done with Alice.
"I’m grown up now," Raymart said he could do it on his own and got the handkerchief from Clarisse so he could do it himself.
Clarisse glanced at Dimo and smiled, "Alright."
[He has a playmate now so he’s trying to act all mature.] Clarisse stopped herself from chuckling. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Here, dry your sweat too," Arabella handed Dimo her handkerchief. She wanted to dry it herself but she figured Dimo would not want to look like a child in front of his younger new friends either.
"Thank you, Your Majesty."
"Did you have fun?" Arabella inquired and received a wide grin from Dimo.
"Yes, I had a lot of fun too."
The smile on his face as he said such words was contagious.
Arabella was glad that having the children’s meeting worked well. Dimo would no longer be as lonely as he was with him having playmates now. The same goes for Raymart and Alice who did not have playmates before this.
"Mommy, I’m hungry," Alice complained as her stomach growled.
"Alright, go and get changed so we can eat," Clarisse instructed.
The children were sent to clean up while Arabella and Clarisse headed to the dining hall.
Dimo also had to change and thankfully, Arabella knew this might happen so she had asked Blanca to pack extra clothes for Dimo.
Once the children were cleaned up and dressed neatly, they had a lively dinner together.
Raymond was working overtime so he was not back yet. His family was used to it so they were used to having their meals without him.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand had also said he might come back late so Arabella did not need to wait for him either.
What was important for now was that the children were having fun with each other and sharing a meal would bring them even closer.
After a bit of rest when dinner was over, Arabella and Dimo departed for the palace with promises to visit again so the kids could play with each other again.
"Do you like your new friends?" Arabella inquired when they were in the carriage.
"Yes, they are so energetic and fun. And they do not hate magic. They love it," Dimo beamed.
"I see. That’s good then," Arabella smiled despite feeling a pang in her chest as she recalled why Dimo would say such words.
It was his first time meeting children who did not think he was a monster because of his abilities.
