Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress-Chapter 702: Making New Friends
This could put them and everyone else at risk if they accidentally use magic without knowing how to control it.
Raymart and Alice have yet to learn about magic though. However, since they have dragon blood, once they see it performed, they may learn much more quickly by imitating it or relying on their instincts.
In one of Arabella’s curious questions, Ferdinand had explained that since Primordial dragons like him and the generations that followed them mostly learned and survived through their instincts and gut feeling, it became ingrained among dragons even in their sense of mana and magic.
Thus, most dragons now learn magic quickly since it was already ingrained in their system from the efforts of the previous generations.
This was why Alwin had only shown Raymart and Alice a few spells such as conjuring non-harmful things like flowers.
The two have not shown signs yet, but once they begin to be able to turn even a small part of their body into their dragon form consciously or unconsciously, learning magic would become much easier for them.
"Can I?" Dimo glanced at Arabella and when she nodded, he replied to the siblings, "Yes, I can."
"Please show me! Show me!" Alice begged eagerly with her eyes sparkling in excitement.
[She’s excited instead of scared. Ever since I accidentally hurt my playmate, all the other kids were scared to play with me. Even Brent and Monica hated me and always looked at me with fear and disdain. Will they not hate me too?]
Arabella felt a lump in her throat when she heard Dimo’s thoughts.
’I hope he realizes he was not wrong or scary. It was simply that people did not understand him and people usually feared what they could not understand nor tried to.’
Moreover, Sonia was there to make things worse. Sonia ensured that Dimo was ostracized. It was so her children would be the ones who would be accepted by the people. It was easy to figure from there that Sonia did it so she could make a reason for her children to be the heir of the ducal seat instead of Dimo.
As a mother herself, Arabella could understand Sonia’s obsessive love for children but she could not agree with the latter’s actions. Moreover, Sonia could have shared a bit of that love and consideration with Dimo since she married the child’s father.
If Ferdinand already had a child with someone else before he married her, Arabella would have been unable to accept or love the child immediately either. However, she would have never treated the child badly and still would have done her best to act as a mother to the child.
"May I?" Dimo once again glanced at Arabella and Clarisse for approval. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Yes, you may." Arabella and Clarisse responded in unison.
When they approved, Dimo used a bit of his mana and made a flower out of magic.
"Woww!!" Alice jumped around in delight and awe. "Can I touch it?"
[They are not scared of me? Is it because they are close to Master and are used to seeing him use magic?]
"Yes, but your hand will pass through it," Dimo explained.
Alice’s eyes still implored though and Dimo could not say no to how she appealed so cutely. Dimo also feared making the adorable little girl cry and possibly causing trouble for Arabella.
Dimo kneeled so Alice could touch the flower. Since he was eating well in the Magic Tower and his mana flow was balanced out, he grew a bit taller.
"It went through," Alice pouted in disappointment as her pinky went through the flower when she tried to touch it.
Raymart copied Alice and tried to touch the flower with his index finger too. It also went through.
Dimo was wide-eyed when he saw the siblings’ disappointment.
[Will they not want to meet me again?! What should I do? Her Majesty even brought me here so I could meet other children. What if she thought I was failing her expectations?]
Arabella blinked twice when she heard Dimo’s thoughts. He recalled Sonia scolding him too much and saying deriding words when he failed to make new friends even though she was the same person who ensured he would not be able to make one.
Dimo lost confidence in himself because of Sonia’s actions and was thus too fearful of failing in matters like this due to the possible consequences.
"Can you make something we can touch?" Raymart inquired.
[I can still do something about it!] Dimo found hope in Raymart’s question.
"Y-yes. Of course," Dimo immediately agreed. "I... I can make something else that you can touch."
This time, he made a small glass-like luminescent rabbit the size of Alice’s palm. The light it emitted was a light gold.
"Wow! So cute!" Alice was delighted at the luminescent rabbit. "And it’s shining!"
Even Raymart’s eyes were filled with interest so Dimo sighed in relief.
"May I touch it?" Alice inquired. She was already extending her hand though before Dimo could reply. She stopped it just above the "rabbit" and waited for Dimo’s response.
When Dimo nodded, Alice touched the rabbit and gasped. She looked at Raymart and everyone else and back at the rabbit. Her eyes were filled with amazement.
"It’s soft and squishy," Alice said as she pressed the rabbit a bit.
"Let me touch it too," Raymart got bored of waiting. His curiosity got the best of him so he asked Alice to move so he could try touching the rabbit as well.
Alive pouted at her elder brother but gave him the chance to touch the rabbit as well.
"Oh, my hand is not going through!" Raymart was also delighted. He tried pressing it like Alice did. "It’s soft and squishy indeed."
"My turn now," Alice made her older brother move aside.
Alice could not contain her excitement and wanted to play around with the rabbit so Dimo handed her the rabbit he made, "You can have it. It’s yours now."
"Yay!" Alice squealed in delight while Raymart pouted since he did not have one.
