Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress-Chapter 687: Worried for Nothing
[No wonder Icarus said that this person is still hiding his real strength. I would have been fooled if Icarus had not warned me.] Benjamin sighed deeply.
’Geez. He would be crowned soon. And he’s doing all the work Mother and Father used to do. How can he just ignore his injuries and keep asking to continue the spar and even ask for hand-to-hand combat?’ Arabella wanted to scold her older brother.
Benjamin should have been more responsible and thought of the possible consequences of his actions.
However, considering that he must have been buried in his office doing work every day ever since their parents stayed in Medeus, Arabella held back.
She knew how tiring it could be to just stay in one place doing the same things over and over again.
Perhaps, her brother wanted a breath of fresh air, and fighting with Ferdinand who was so much stronger than he was gave him the change of pace he needed.
After all, their knights were likely too worried to hurt their future king to truly go all out when they spar.
’But why did he have to make a scene so early in the morning and pretend like he had broken bones? Was that truly all just payback for getting excluded last night?’
Arabella glanced eyed her brother who was inspecting his hands and trying to move them.
[Icarus was already monstrous but this guy is even worse. As if I were some child he was training, he easily and nonchalantly parried each of my strikes no matter the strength I used. He knew exactly what I’d do next. Was it because he was often on the battlefield and had fought so many people? I asked for hand-to-hand combat to see how far he was with it and it only proved how strong he was. He’s already so powerful, and yet, he also has such a capable magician by his side. Valeria is undefeatable with this duo. Ella is indeed safest by his side since we cannot protect her here.]
Benjamin sighed and thanked Alwin again as the latter used magic to put back the sleeve of his clothes that he had made to vanish earlier.
"Are your hands really alright now? It doesn’t hurt anymore?" Lei inquired and examined Benjamin’s hands. "Wow, there was not a sign of brother’s wounds!"
[He did it so quickly without saying any spells.] Eloisa also checked Benjamin’s hands.
Eloisa was an avid reader of historical texts due to her interest in languages. Thus, she had come across a lot of stories about magicians and what they could do.
[Why are they looking at me like that?!] Alwin took a step back when Lei and Eloisa eyed him.
"Thank you very much for healing my Elder Brother, I mean the Crown Prince," Lei said.
"Indeed, Thank you very much for your help," Eloisa said as well.
[Hmm. Even if doesn’t chant, he must be adept with ancient language since he’s said to be the best magician in Eliora. Maybe, I will learn more quickly from him.]
"Please do not worry about it," Alwin said curtly with half a step back at how Eloisa and Lei were eyeing him.
[I am not yet engaged to anyone. Isn’t he single as well? Maybe, I should ask to get set up with him. I want to learn about ancient texts more quickly. Or should I strike a deal with him that he could do as he pleases and marry me on paper only so we could both do as we pleased? I heard magicians are crazy about their research. His voice is nice and he’s powerful and knowledgeable, so it should be alright no matter what he looks like. We cannot see his face because of that hood and the spell he used.]
’What?!!’ Arabella was wide-eyed when she heard Eloisa’s thoughts. Yet even more shocking was when Lei spoke again.
"You’re so amazing, You’re Eminence. Maybe, I should marry you?" Lei said and everyone gasped.
"What?!!" Benjamin and Nicholas reacted the most violently.
Eloisa was speechless since Lei beat her to it.
Meanwhile, Alwin was frozen at the sudden marriage proposal.
"Oops. Did I say that out loud?" Lei covered her mouth.
"Lei! You can’t just say something like that," Benjamin scolded when he recovered.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I was just kidding," Lei quickly raised both her hands in surrender and acted cutely so would not get scolded even more.
Everyone sighed in relief when Lei clarified her point.
"Lei, do not joke about this matter again. If you did this to someone else, what would you have done if they accepted it? You would be engaged to someone you do not even know or get labeled as the princess who proposed first and got rejected," Arabella chided. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Their other siblings joined in on the scolding as well. Meanwhile, Alwin retreated behind Ferdinand and hid himself in his lord’s huge frame.
[That scared me. Why would a child even propose to so suddenly? Thank goodness it was a joke.]
Alwin rubbed his chest in relief as he peeked behind Ferdinand.
’My goodness! Alwin had not even shown his face but both of them had already thought of marrying him. I can never allow them to see his face. This is dangerous.’
Arabella noted to not send Alwin here in Lobelius Palace again if not for emergency purposes.
She could not allow her younger siblings to fall in love with Alwin who does not even want to fall in love nor understand it. They might end up in an unrequited love.
"Elder Brother, did you really have to pretend to like you have broken bones? If the others saw you the way you were earlier, they could have panicked and interpreted it as something else," Eloisa was the one who scolded Benjamin.
"I had no plans of getting seen by the others, which was why I headed here early on," Benjamin reasoned.
"Sure, sure. I was worried for nothing," Eloisa grumbled.
"What do you mean by nothing? I was truly injured," Benjamin reminded.
