One fact that was hammered into the head of every Federation soldier in the past 12 days was the fact that inside Purgatory, it was exceedingly difficult to kill a NetRunner, even E Rank NetRunners.
It was this subconscious fact that made him eliminate the possibility of trying to counterattack against both NetRunners.
Instead of wasting his energy to try attacking the NetRunners, he set his sights on the sole D Rank Gene Augur instead.
At D Rank, apart from Cyber Gladiators of the Pulse Brawler Specialization, perhaps the only other Class Specialization with a skill set to deal attacks with the potential of slightly breaking the C Rank ceiling are Quantum Shapers of the Gravitionist Specialization.
By combining Pull, Push, and Spatial Rend, a D Rank Gravitionist’s attack could pose a lethal threat to a C Rank Ascended!
Afterall, with Pull and Push to amplify it, Spatial Rend amplifies it further literally making it bypass the concept of defense!
Guessing that his opponents didn’t know the skills of D Rank Quantum Shapers, this was Major Goldbridge’s devious plan to catch his opponents off-guard and deal them a big blow.
Even if the Gene Augur somehow survived the attack, he wanted to at least injure him enough to delete him from the battle just like the Pulse Brawler.
The attack had all the power that it promised when it hit.

The sound of impact was like exploding dominoes.
The attack bypassed all of Major Lawrence’s defense, slamming into the thick skin of the Winged Rhino with violent force and rupturing it apart, tearing a hole through the Rhino!
The Gene Augur suffered devastating damage.
A thunderclap echoed from the impact as blood rained from the sky.
And then the Winged Rhino shuddered from the damage as it lost its ability to fly, beginning to freefall from the sky.
Seeing this, both Major Kai and Major Potter were stunned as they both felt a chill crawl down their spines. ’What kind of offensive power is this???’
Major Goldbridge was already chasing after the plummeting Winged Rhino, eager to continue what he started and kill the enemy!
But he forgot something.
In his subconscious bias to not target the NetRunners due to the PTSD of fighting against NetRunners inside Purgatory led by Ren Nora for the past 12 days, Major Goldbridge forgot that the NetRunner Class was not the only unique Class.
Every Class was unique in its own way and had their powers, and one thing that high-ranking Gene Augurs are known for is their sick tenacity, relentless indefatigability, and their sheer survivability.
In his subconscious bias due to Purgatory, Major Goldbridge completely forget that Gene Augurs are the tanks and turtle shells of the Ascended world.

Amid a mighty eruption of orange ADE even as he was being chased by the Quantum Shaper, Major Lawrence though stunned by the damage of the attack reacted instinctively as he triggered 3 abilities.

The torn flesh of the Whined Rhino instantly started squirming.
Instantly, the blood became clotted as at a speed visible to the naked eye, tissues began stitching themselves back together inside the massive hole torn into the body of the Winged Rhino as he began rapidly regenerating.
Seeing this, Major Goldbridge blinked in surprise then he cursed. ’Crap! I miscalculated!’
At E Rank, the regeneration abilities of Gene Augurs are already sick and exaggerated but at D Rank, especially for Gene Augurs of the Beastframe Specialization, this survivability and regeneration becomes even more exaggerated and overpowered in a Beastframe form.
And the thing that truly makes Gene Augurs unkillable is the fact that with the passive ability, Symbiotic Core, they could really do this all day as they had ocean-like reserves of ADE going into any battle.
Major Lawrence could keep on fighting at this intensity for a month if he wanted!
He was not afraid of damage, he was only afraid of his enemy running away due to not being able to kill him.
Still in the Winged Rhino Beastframe form, the massive Rhino grinned in a mad and deranged manner than he roared.

Before the NetRunners could react and catch up, Major Goldbridge reacted first as he did the combination of Pull, Push, and Spatial Rend again and unleashed another devastating punch at the Rhino.
Major Lawrence welcomed it with open arms.

A cloud of poisonous miasma erupted around him, rushing towards the Federation Lieutenant as he retaliated while prepping his body to take the attack head-on.
It hit.

Again, he suffered devastating damage and again, he was already healing as his orange ADE swirled around his body like a cocoon.
He laughed and roared like a mad Rhino, taunting the Quantum Shaper.
The look in the predatory eyes of the Winged Rhino seemed to challenge the Quantum Shaper. ’You can attack, I can regenerate’.
’I can do this all day, can you?’
Major Goldbridge’s eyebrows twitched as he saw this. ’Crap!’
And then, the 2 NetRunners got involved again.

The moment the 2 NetRunners moved, Major Goldbridge made his decision as he realized that staying to fight was a lost cause.
Of his 3 enemies, he couldn’t touch 2 of them simply because they could outmaneuver him easily while the last of them was too tenacious to be killed, so why waste his time here?
Just like the NetRunners, his was a paper Class, he didn’t have high defense to resist a single targeted attack from the Gene Augur.
And he didn’t have the sheer mobility of NetRunners either.
Major Goldbridge didn’t hesitate as common sense took over. Unlike Major Ceres he had no intention of fighting till death, he decided to abandon the Federation Army and escape!
Just as the 3 enemies converged on him, eager to overwhelm him and kill him his body suddenly erupted with thick white and gold ADE.

Major Goldbridge didn’t hesitate as he drained his ADE like water, using his Phase Step ability a whopping 50 times!
A Quantum Shaper’s Phase Step is not as effortless as a NetRunner’s Neural Projection as a lot of ADE is needed to fold space but to Goldbridge, the price was worth it rather than dying a meaningless death like Major Ceres.
Within a single second, he escaped to outside the city!
