The nearly invisible transparent green streams of light slammed into him with the force of a sledgehammer!
General Sylvari Charr felt like he just died 10 times!
His eyes instantly rolled behind his head, froth bubbled from his mouth as he felt like a supernova just detonated inside his head!
He suffered instantaneous brain damage!
His whole body shuddered and vibrated, his hand violently shook beside him in a raggedy manner as his nerves fired on overdrive.
His brain, his intelligence, his awareness, his perception, all of it was overwhelmed instantly.
The moment this happened, Major Mendez reacted.
With a simple mental command, his battered Knight Exosuit- Legendary Knight of Chaos turned before plunging its massive Warhammer into the crater where he fell in, just below where General Sylvari Charr was above him.
With a mighty vibration, the ground caved in even more as the battered Knight Exosuit finally shattered... but Major Mendez was gone.
He burrowed into the ground like a rodent and escaped!
And then, he emerged out of the ground more than a kilometer away and rejoined his comrades who also retreated the moment the General was trapped.
And then, they all looked at the General.
Major Mendez and Major Lawrence saw nothing, they only saw the General squatting with his whole body vibrating, straining and making crackling sounds like the weight of the entire world was on his shoulders.
His eyes were unfocused, smoke seemed to be coming out of the top of his mechanical head.
’What is this...?’ They thought in fear.
When Major Kai gave them a very brief summary of the plan, though they were skeptical they believed in the General’s setup and followed him.
But still, now that it happened, they were stunned.
They stared at the Federation General with wide eyes filled with disbelief. ’What can make a C Rank Ascended like this?’

General Sylvari Charr’s final resistance collapsed like a deck of cards as he finally fell on his knees with dazed eyes and a twisted expression on his face, and yet the Cyber Gladiator and Gene Augur saw nothing.
The current situation was nothing short of creepy.
And with General Sylvari Charr being pressed by this invisible force on his knees, his neon green ADE turned erratic as they flared around him like tiny Dragons in a cage who were struggling to escape.

Despite his brain being overwhelmed, he instinctively tried to escape.
General Sylvari Charr’s mechanical body turned ghostly and transparent as it felt like he was about to hop through Purgatory, and yet for some reason just before he could disappear he flickered before being forced back into reality.
A strange power was interrupting with his psionic teleportation!
Major Mendez and Major Lawrence felt a chill crawl down their spines on seeing this, this was because they couldn’t even see what was interfering with him and trapping him in place.
At E Rank, NetRunners become capable of seeing the psionic network.
When Purgatory overlapped the cyber world with reality, other Ascended also become capable of seeing the psionic network but the creepy thing was that the 1 kilometer radius of the trap became invisible to regular Ascended again despite the fact that Purgatory was still active.
It was like this 1 kilometer radius was isolated from Purgatory!
And with the General struggling so much, his distant ADE that curled inside a certain D Rank Cyber Gladiator’s brain finally turned erratic.
After unleashing the powerful Focused Punch that forced Major Mendez down from the sky into the 1 kilometer radius, creating the crater, puppet Major Garfield had also been rushing towards the crater to end his comrade’s life right until he lost connection.

When the General was trapped, the ADE inside his head acting as the controller instantly lost connection!
The puppet froze, and then the formidable mental defenses of a D Rank Ascended did the rest.

Instantly, his slightly glowing neon green eyes returned to normal.
"Ugh...!" Major Garfield bent over and coughed a mouthful of blood as his entire complexion turned pale.

Major Kai instantly hopped to his position as he supported him while his gaze remained fixated on the struggling General with a solemn look on his face.
The others may not see what was happening, but as D Rank NetRunners, both Major Kai and Major Potter clearly saw what was happening within a 1 kilometer radius around General Sylvari Charr.

In their vision, they saw hundreds of millions of neon green data streams aggressively crisscrossing within a 1 kilometer radius, inducing such psionic traffic that directly created a vacuum in this region outside Purgatory.
Leon’s trap broke Purgatory!
Within this vacuum that was isolated from Purgatory, hundreds of millions of data streams bounced everywhere like bullets, flooding the entire psionic space within a kilometer radius with dense psionic traffic.
Inside that dense traffic isolated from Purgatory, it was impossible to teleport using Neural Projection.
And as the target server of attack, it was impossible to think or react. This was a trap that did not just cage the body but also caged the mind.
This was a trap powered by an entire city!
A single NetRunner being inside this dense traffic was like a boy lost inside the heart of a nanite storm!
There was nowhere to escape to, the hundreds of millions of data streams intercepted every attempt even as they smashed into and bounced off the body of the C Rank NetRunner of the Federation Army.
They didn’t just bounce off him.
When they hit him, each individual data stream burrowed into his very nature as an Ascended, flooding with brain with so much traffic that forced General Sylvari Charr to his knees, shaking violently like an epilepsy patient!
The General no longer had any idea what was going on around him.
His brain was overwhelmed!
The only thing he knew and saw at this moment were the hundreds of millions of redundant data streams around him.
He lost his mind!
He forgot that he was inside a battlefield, he forgot that he was fighting a war, he forgot himself!
It was the perfect trap.
You could not brute force it, at some point you do not even realize that you’re trapped simply because of the fake content of the data streams.
General Sylvari Charr was a server, and right now the server just crashed!
Having been on the receiving end of this same trap as a test subject alongside the General for the past few days, Major Kai knew exactly what the General was passing through as he shuddered from his lingering PTSD.
’This Leon guy...’ He thought with dread.
Hidden inside the control data center, unknown to everyone but him, Leon was manipulating this trap from the dark with his formidable A.I.
An E Rank Mechanist was the cause of the General’s current predicament!
Days ago when the Mechanist first brought the idea, Major Kai thought it was the ramblings of a fool but now, even he was forced to believe.
In that moment, all the other Lieutenants of the rebel army seeing that the General was truly trapped looked at Major Kai with shocked and complicated expressions.
’He actually managed to do it!’
Major Kai grinned.

After Major Kai told his comrades that the General already attempted the Trial, making them understand the situation, he took charge of the rebel army as the interim leader in Ren Nora’s absence.
And then, in very few and concise words, he told them the plan.
He told them that the General had a plan to trap General Sylvari Charr but it needed all of their cooperation. He didn’t go into details, he simply told his 4 comrades to trust him.
Their only goal was to lead General Sylvari Charr to the 1 kilometer radius that was the location of the trap while making sure that the General didn’t suspect that anything was wrong.
If they were able to do this perfectly, Leon would take care of the rest.
This was one of the reasons that pushed them to actually engage a C Rank Ascended in battle in Ren Nora’s absence.
Though they found the prospect of trapping a C Rank Ascended ridiculous, their blind faith in General made them accept the plan.
They were willing to put their lives on the line just to lead General Sylvari Charr to the location of the trap.
Major Garfield’s brain was almost completely eroded as he became a puppet in the process, Major Mendez almost lost his life but in the end, it worked and they all survived to see a C Rank Ascended become trapped.
The moment General Sylvari Charr fell into the trap, everything changed.
A Federation Army led by a C Rank Ascended and a Federation Army led by just D Rank Ascended was a different situation entirely for the rebel army.
In the first scenario, all they could do was hold on and survive as long as possible, but in the second scenario, they could actually fight.
It was time to retaliate!
